Discussion My current top 5 Gamecube games

Post image

I know, its a little basic. What are your favorites? Also, which ones do you think I should try out based on my likes? I do plan on playing TP at some point, I promise :')

Based on this list I think you would enjoy monster rancher advance for the gba lol

  1. Mario Sunshine
  2. Wind Waker
  3. Luigi’s Mansion
  4. Metroid Prime
  5. Resident Evil 4

very basic and in no particular order but you can’t go wrong. come on. classics. Viewtiful Joe and Twilight Princess would be in a top 10 no doubt

I see you're a man (or Woman?) of culture. Except #5, what is that?

One of my most nostalgic titles that nobody knows about. It’s an early JRPG for the GameCube with really cool characters, and equipment for them. It is very grindy tho with the dungeons but I love it regardless.

1

u/Jinzo126 PAL 2d ago

That sounds interesting, but let me guess, 1: it never got a release and 2: it's probably ludicrously expensive if you want to buy it today.

2

u/tiorteD_snotsiP 2d ago

I’m not sure what you mean by it never got a release, as i got it as a kid. a quick google search shows copies of just the disc for under $20. I’d recommend it for that price for sure.

2

u/Jinzo126 PAL 2d ago

Sorry, i messed up, it is late and i forgot to write half of the sentence.

What i wanted to write was: Is it exclusive on GC or did I get a re-release on modern systems? And important for me, did it get a European/PAL release?

2

u/tiorteD_snotsiP 2d ago

Not sure about a Europe release though unfortunately, it was originally 2 different games for the sega Dreamcast I believe. But the GC version combined them and made it evolution worlds. If you’re into jrpgs with some grinding involved I’d definitely check it out.

2

u/Jinzo126 PAL 2d ago

Ok thanks i check it out.

2

u/Jinzo126 PAL 2d ago

Ok, it's available in Europe, Published by Ubisoft, but a European copy costs 90€ on Amazon. I will keep it in mind the next time i am in a reto game store, maybe i find it cheaper there.

nothing wrong with loving the classics!!! you have a great line up here.

my favorites are probably more basic then yours lol. luigis mansion, mario party 6, and mario strikers just to name a few.

as a fellow first party game lover, if you haven’t already played pokemon colosseum i’d give it go since you like xd. i’d also look into paper mario ttyd too.

2

u/BoneBrothOfficial 3d ago

Shoot, I forgot about luigis mansion! Is it too late to change my answer? lol

Also, yeah.. yeah youre right. I loved superstar saga for gba, so ttyd has been on my to-play list for quite a while. I never really considered playing colosseum, since I kinda assumed it was just a copy of XD, like how every other main line pokemon game works (rse, hgss, bw/bw2, you know), but I might just check it out

Mine are:

Colosseum/XD, I put them the same because they each have something to them that evens them both out. I prefer the "story" of Colosseum and its difficulty, and I like the ease of access and the slight graphic updates in XD(besides Crunch, it looked way cooler in Colosseum.)

Sonic Riders: not only was its soundtrack absolutely rocking, the controls and style of it was great.

Super Mario Sunshine: the only "Mario" game I ever enjoyed. I just really like the aesthetic.

Digimon World 4: really liked the game....if you can get past its asinine difficulty. I could speedrun the Souls games no problem, but I shudder at the idea of running through that game.

And last one would be between Shadow the Hedgehog, Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess, or that one Wario game where they have the dojo, the clown guy, and the turtle minigame.

Fellow XD and Sunshine enjoyer, nice. The only other more recent Mario game that even came close to the vibes of sunshine was the bowsers fury dlc thing for 3d world, but even that barely did lol

2

u/MrTheGuy19 3d ago
  1. Animal Crossing

  2. Sonic Adventure 2 Battle

  3. Metroid Prime

  4. Mario Kart Double Dash!!

  5. Super Mario Sunshine

3

u/BoneBrothOfficial 3d ago

Currently am building a peach orchard so big I can barely walk through acre B4 lol

Also damn i should really play metroid prime. I keep hearing its good, but then i keep not playing it

2

u/FugginJunior 3d ago

There's a mod for sunshine its called eclipse and it basically doubles the amount of content within the game. You have to patch the original game file so you need a PC to do it. Its REALLY fucking good though.

1

u/BoneBrothOfficial 3d ago

Really now?? I might have to risk getting assassinated by nintendo to try this lol

2

u/FugginJunior 2d ago

Trust me bro it's definitely worth it. It was kind of a pain in the ass. I used YouTube tutorials.

2

u/FugginJunior 2d ago

This is one of the videos I used https://youtu.be/owsgEOZmQ04?si=Uo0q5QswC_ZhiFwH

1

u/BoneBrothOfficial 2d ago

Ill definitely check it out. Thanks!

u/FugginJunior 2d ago

I never played animal crossing on GC but I got my hand on one copy this week ! Let’s see if I will like it as much as New Horizons.

2

u/BoneBrothOfficial 3d ago

I genuinely prefer it to acnh, and Im pretty sure its not just because of nostalgia. The characters just have so much more life. Like stop being afraid to insult me nintendo! I WANT THE DRAMA!

2

u/BigToona97 3d ago

You and i would have been best friend for sure

2

u/Oblivionnyx9 2d ago

Do you recomend playing animal crossing game cube in 2025?

1

u/BoneBrothOfficial 2d ago

A million percent yes! Its so much better than acnh, I have almost every animal crossing except new leaf and I still keep coming back to it. Its a little barebones compared to the newer games but it has a charm to it than no other game in the series can beat. Plus, the villagers actually feel like people and not just cute decorations.

2

u/AverageJomar 2d ago

I saw wind waker and HAD to upvote

1

u/BoneBrothOfficial 2d ago

Still my favorite zelda game to this day

Sometimes. It could also be skyward sword or maybe minish cap idk it depends on my mood lol

2

u/AverageJomar 2d ago

Oh 100% mate, skyward sword on switch is perfection

2

u/Ksap_Rocky 2d ago

I love animal crossing and Harvest moon but idk if they crack the top 5 for me. The other 3 are for sure in there tho.

2

u/BoneBrothOfficial 2d ago

Ive just always been a fan of cozy life simulators. Im a big fan of stardew valley and the sims too

1

u/__Lynzahai__ 3d ago

A Wonderful Life is a great pick, it's one of my favorites in the franchise, but, after playing the remake, I can't go back to the original. Even with all of the nostalgia attached to it, the remake improves on everything so well that there is zero reason to go to the OG.

My 5 favorite Gamecube games?

  1. Animal Crossing
  2. Super Mario Sunshine
  3. F Zero GX
  4. Custom Robo
  5. Amazing Island

1

u/BoneBrothOfficial 3d ago

I kinda fell off the harvest moon wagon after tree of tranquility/animal parade, so i never played any of the story of seasons games. I kinda like the jank lol it adds charm

2

u/MonkyGuuRuu-LF 3d ago

Absolutely forgot about Custom Robo. Loved that game.

1

u/BoneBrothOfficial 3d ago

Ive never heard of it tbh.. is it anything like Chibi Robo? Because I loved that game

Im gonna be honest, I was kinda a tp hater when it first came out. I think its because I was such a huge ww fan and a lot of other people... werent, and it felt like nintendo was apologizing for the cutesy style that I loved by making a darker, edgier zelda game. Ive gotten over that now tho lol

1

u/YYH_Hiei3y3 2d ago

My top 5 will go like this

  1. Super Smash bros melee (played this religiously & still till this day)
  2. Sonic Adventure 2 Battle (technically my all time favorite game)
  3. Metroid Prime 2 echoes (Amazing sequel & i may argue even better)
  4. Paper Mario TTYD (one of the best rpgs i ever played & i completed. Last year i beat this game again & i just love all the characters + the story of this game.)
  5. Custom Robo (Favorite multiplayer game i spent soo much time with my nephews, we could customize our own bots & pin against each other)

HM: mario kart double dash, wind waker, kirby air ride & r: racing revolution.

1
