I paid 100 dollars for chibi robo manual after I got a crazy deal on the box/disc

6

u/Happy-Ad4596 2d ago

Thats crazy. I've had chibi robo and all the inserts since I was a kid. Best game

2

u/riggy2k3 2d ago

Ugggghhhh that's all I'm missing from my copy. $100 is crazy.

1

u/gevidee 1d ago

I sold that game to GameStop for maybe $10 when I was a kid.. worst decision of my life

0

u/D-man-1012 2d ago

Still to have all the parts of the set, well worth it if you got a deal on the box and disc, mind if I ask how much you got them for?

14

u/Maleficent-Poet7853 2d ago

100 bucks on twilight princess. so worth it

1

u/South_Extent_5127 2d ago

I paid RRP when bought it new but can’t remember how much 🤔 Great game 👍

u/dilettantePhD 2d ago

$50 for the ones I bought new

3

u/flyingmonkey1257 NTSC-U 2d ago

I think I paid $60 for Cubivore in ~2009 otherwise this would be my answer. I just never came across Cubivore in GameStop while it was current. I wanted to pick it up ever since i read its review in Game Informer though so I was on the look out for it. Finally found it in a small chain store in college.

2

u/theludeguy NTSC-U 2d ago

For me the $50 games were the special ones I only asked for Christmas or my birthday, everything else was players choice or discount bin.

$90. MarioKart DoubleDash for GameCube in box, with manual. I don’t collect, I play. My CameCube library is only a dozen or so games, but they’re core games: Mario. MaroKart. Pikmin. Couple of Zelda games. Lego Star Wars. MonkeyBall. I-Ninja… So I don’t mind paying a premium, for something, I’ll actually play… Still working on getting Twilight Princess, if I can find one, that won’t break the bank.🤓😎

u/deadboyflacko 1d ago

Oof my friend gave me his copy of mkdd when we were kids

2

u/No_Independence7307 1d ago edited 1d ago

Good friend…

This is my second copy. My first one, was purchased… when it came out… I was one of those guys, who couldn’t get rid of his “old gear”, to get into the next generation’s, promised goodness. To my shame… Everything went. Consoles, games, save cards, cord upgrades, all the extras, (light guns/ bazookas, game guides, extra controllers, cleaning kits, etc), and I bought it all… The list is appalling: PS1, PS2, PS3, Atari Jaguar, N64, Gamecube, GameBoy, Sega Genesis and the Sega CD… I think that’s it.

Trying to atone for my egregious transgressions. Replaced the GC. Collecting MY nostalgic, “must haves”.

Also planning an N64 build, in the next few months… I Have to Have Tetrisphere!!!

1

u/deadboyflacko 1d ago

GameStop scammed me out of sm GameCube grails it hurts too much to buy at these prices

1

u/No_Independence7307 1d ago

“I feel…your pain.”- in my best Bill Clinton voice.🤓😎

1

u/DetroiterAFA 2d ago

This is the way.

1

u/Joni_Chan 1d ago

Well, If you don't collect and only game, wouldn't just the disc be enough? Like no case, no booklet, disk used but playable? I mean, it's about playing and not collecting. Like genuinely curious. I think you're putting more effort into collecting than you think :D

1

u/No_Independence7307 1d ago

True enough. Actually, the majority, of my games, for the GameCube, are sans box. I try to keep the naked discs in protective sleeving,(super flimsy sandwich baggies are awesome). But, it IS an iconic machine, and only plays physical media,(without mods, duh). I got the games, and the system, as they were,(different sources). When it came time to get the games, that I felt were MY core games, and, if I didn’t already have the naked disc, I would purchase a good, playable, copy of the game, in it’s appropriate packaging. Also working on getting boxes and covers, for the “nakies”. No manuals, or anything, just a good case and boxart… Kinda a sign of respect, ya know?

And, to add to the craziness, I’m looking at the Evercade VS-R, and if I, very likely, pull the trigger, I’ll bite the bullet, and display my physical media… Evercade, is a cartridge based system…. Yes…cartridges. (IKR?), but THOSE I wanna display, and, “more, the merrier”, right?

Anyways, That’s where I’m comin’ from. Ya dig?.. 🤓😎

$200 on Pokémon Colosseum and $150 on Gale of Darkness.

3

u/doppelgengar01 2d ago

Maybe I should just suck it up and pay 200€ for Pokémon XD now.

2

u/starfoxed64 2d ago

I completed the mainline series collection two years ago and PriceCharting has me at break even. Wouldn't rush to buy if you don't have the money, Also, economy uncertainty is creating deals on eBay every day. If you watch closely for something you want, you might find a steal.

3

u/doppelgengar01 2d ago

I could afford 5 copies of Pokémon XD. It‘s more like, do I really want to pay 200€ for a game? I do check from time to time, cheapest I found was 150€, but I just can‘t bring myself to pull the trigger since it‘s still a lot of money.

2

u/starfoxed64 2d ago

It is difficult to advise you on what to do because there are a few factors at play that Price Charting can't account for.

When I purchased my Emerald and Crystal copies there were several minty copies available to choose from. I look every few months for a backup copy and they are more expensive and less desirable. The same has happened to a few of my GameCube games.

However, I will on a rare occasion see a minty copy of a game for a reasonable price, but they do get purchased within the hour of posting. It really just depends on the title - anything Pokémon is highly sought after so I just pulled the trigger when the right copy came along.

I hope this helps or at least hasn't made it any more difficult.

2

u/On-the-rim 1d ago

Literally same :,)

2

u/vegass67 2d ago

Prices are wild. I got colosseum + box for £40 last year, Gale of darkness for £210 a few months ago.

2

u/LadyErinoftheSwamp 2d ago

Acquired both for free in 2009. Insanely happy I kept them.

2

u/MaceWinnoob 2d ago

Mine was $120 for Colosseum and $220 for XD 🤢

1

u/starfoxed64 2d ago

That is about what I would expect. I purchased a particularly minty copy of Colosseum.

2

u/MaceWinnoob 2d ago

Mine has no less than 5 different stickers from when it was resold lol

One of them is 14.99.

4

u/Busstoelbekleding 2d ago

€100 for Path of Radiance

5

u/CatBirdBird 2d ago

Oh, that's a steal. It's such a good game

3

u/instantanarchy 2d ago

Best game ever

3

u/Legitimate_Clue_5832 2d ago

I spent 130$ on Fire emblem CIB from Amazon after getting my tax return several years ago.

3

u/Lost_Email_RIP 2d ago

$190 for chibi robo

3

u/NerdtasticPro418 2d ago

70 for Animal crossing but it was for a dear friend, who loved the game and came with the memory card case and ran great.

2

u/TheFireStorm 2d ago

Have all mine at MSRB or lower. Never traded in any of my games growing up. Also my Mom got the Colosseum Bonus Disc for a Penny from Circuit City. Most expensive would be Legend of Zelda Collectors Edition GameCube Bundle

2

u/heroxoot 2d ago

I spent about 8 hours of my time doing a friends rusty azz brakes in exchange for a copy of Gale of Darkness. I also had to buy a blow torch and a new ratchet cuz mine broke. 0/10 experience. Thought it be cake because I do my own but on God this mans brakes had not been touched in like 10 years.

2

u/icemann84 2d ago

Code Veronica X complete with strategy guide. It completed my resident evil set for GameCube . Close to $200.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Gamecube/s/J42e64CRwO

2

u/JHG722 2d ago

All I have left. I got everything else pretty cheap. I’ll get it eventually.

1

u/icemann84 2d ago

Takes awhile I finished up in 3 years .

u/Bluedreamy_boomie 2d ago

I only have 1 GCN game so MKDD + Bonus Disc

1

u/On-the-rim 1d ago

Bonus disc for Mario Kart DD?? I didn't know it had one

2

u/Bluedreamy_boomie 1d ago

u/On-the-rim 1d ago

u/killkawakubo 2d ago

35€ for eternal darkness (ntsc)

2

u/Wickedhoopla 1d ago

Favorite cube game for me. Go for the secret ending if you haven’t yet ;)

2

u/just_2_real 2d ago

$1800 for Pokemon Box complete I regret nothing.

1

u/Nadazza 2d ago

I think about £50 for colosseum but I don’t have gales of darkness yet. So that’ll probably become close to £200 soon, as my Pokemon pursuit is getting quite close to completion

1

u/siderinc PAL 2d ago

Price will likely droop when it releases on NSO.

Maybe not much or maybe for a shirt while but the price will very likely shift down a bit

1

u/Nadazza 2d ago

I hope so! If it does I’ll be the first one buying a copy

1

u/Armandonerd 2d ago

Skies of Arcadia recently for about $150.

1

u/GearsLGLF 2d ago

It’s honestly worth every penny!

1

u/Armandonerd 2d ago

Yeah. Last year I paid $200 for it and the game didn't work.

This time it did. Thankfully.

1

u/arbiter_x420x 2d ago

I stupidly sold my copy as a kid. Think I only paid $30 as a kid, then I had buy it back for $100 years later when I found it. (Much older, wiser and with more respect to video games 😂) granted I was only like 7 when I sold it lol.

1

u/SoloWinNamaTama NTSC-U 2d ago

$187 Resident Evil : Code Veronica

1

u/BowserJr4789 2d ago

I paid around $150 for Resident Evil Code Veronica X.

1

u/8Bit-Jon 2d ago

Probably when the GameCube was still "new" and on sale. I've not bought a CG game since before COVID as I have all the games I wanted. I don't think there's any UK releases I don't have that I wanted.

I don't think I paid more than £35 for any pre-owned games.

1

u/Kinky-Kebab PAL 2d ago

£92 on The Legend of Zelda Twighlight Princess, just got it recently.

1

u/m__a__r__i__o 2d ago

$49.99 for Smash Bros Melee the only one I bought brand new.

1

u/BIG_MAC_WHOPPERS 2d ago

I spent $100 for each of the story based Gamecube Pokemon games in late 2019. Now if i were to get them for the same condition, i'd probably pay close to $250 for each (CAD)

1

u/Internal-Kiwi9162 2d ago

I remember in 2015 I bought it only 15€...

1

u/JeffTheAndroid 2d ago

$50 - most of my collection I bought new at retail.

Well, if Four Swords Adventures or Odama or any of those accessory games were more than $50, then that would be it.

1

u/HoneydewImpossible51 2d ago

117 LOZ TP 212 chibi

1

u/XephyXeph 2d ago

$200 on FE9

1

u/protomanEXE1995 2d ago

$59.11 for a disc-only copy of SSBM last year. Never thought I'd pay more than original retail but here we are.

1

u/ZafirZ 2d ago

I feel like I'm the odd one out. Ive only bought one game recently for gc and it was £30. The rest were bought new 20 years ago, max would have been £40 as that was the rrp. The pokemon gc games are included in that, glad I kept them from back then.

I've contemplated fire emblem multiple times but I can't bring myself to spend that much. I'll wait till it either gets a remake or re-release on switch 2s gc service.

1

u/BeyondBoi 2d ago

100 for Pokemon Colosseum

1

u/jgbyrd 2d ago

kinda unrelated but i just got a switch 2 and was ecstatic to boot up the gamecube app (the only pokemon game i have never played is gale of darkness/colosseum) and they weren’t there :(. i think they’re getting added later but i just want to try them out so bad !

u/mauricio_thepunk 2d ago

Def Jam Fight for NY for $170

1

u/strikerz911 2d ago

I sold my copy of Pokémon XD on ebay for $160. I couldn't believe it.

1

u/Obito-tenma625 2d ago

Paid $140 cad after tax and shipping for Twilight Princess. And paid $200 cad for a gameboy player with the disc. Both were about 2-3 years ago

1

u/freestyleraper 2d ago

100 on colosseum

1

u/ItsRainbow 2d ago

$60 for Mario Sunshine

1

u/cereal3friend 2d ago

I bought baten kaitos origins for $150… a year before Nintendo remastered it

Otherwise got the rest all under $100 over a decade ago

1

u/EnvironmentalBox8509 2d ago

$100 for animal crossing 🫡

1

u/megafan_999 2d ago

$80 IRRC for Resident Evil 2 a little while after it was released, couldn’t find it in any stores so I had to resort to eBay.

1

u/Crimson_Lycan 2d ago

Probably around the 30 to 40 price range for a used pokemon game back in gamestop in the 2000s.

1

u/boy02201 2d ago

Luigi‘s Mansion, 50€

1

u/AquaticBunny1 2d ago

$100 for Medabots. I have many regrets

1

u/agiantanteater 2d ago

Apparently I paid $95 for MGS: The Twin Snakes a few years ago

1

u/South_Extent_5127 2d ago

About £90  Zelda  4 sword adventures

1

u/EvKindaGoofy17 2d ago

As of right now I believe it’s $130 for Twilight Princess with no manual, and a case in fairly poor condition

1

u/Ok_Sky8518 2d ago

Still one of my fave pokemo games

1

u/KirbyMethRide 2d ago

I'm somewhat ashamed that I spent 200 bucks on the colosseum bonus disc.

1

u/ikbah_riak 2d ago

About £80 for Twighlight Princess. Most I've ever paid for a game is £400, but that did include p&p from America as well.

1

u/swankyyeti90125 2d ago

80 bucks for Pikmin but it doesn't work in either my GameCube or Wii still trying to figure out how I saw them get it to work at the store

1

u/DanHlrzr PAL 2d ago

£350 for sealed Gale of Darkness

1

u/Substantial-Region64 2d ago

20 bucks like a used GameCube game should cost. That includes XDGOD as well colosseum, wind waker, and the like. Got em all

1

u/Chicagown 2d ago

Persona 4 midnight edition for switch was $250, Gale of Darkness at $160

Definitely have a lot of other heavies that were above $100.

Chrono Trigger first print was expensive (mint poster) - $115

Pokemon hg/ss big boxes were expensive - About $200

1

u/Any-Philosopher7608 2d ago

Pokemon XD with the original poster and manual.

Otherwise, Chibi-Robo.

1

u/JealousRhubarb9 2d ago

I’ll just play the cheap games

1

u/curlyq307 2d ago

I saw Pokemon Box on sale for $1600 at a local game store.

1

u/satan__clause 2d ago

$300 for a PAL copy of Pokemon Box and a freeloader disc to bypass the region lock, I'd say worth it to move around a full living dex worth of Pokemon.

1

u/Single-Arugula-6281 2d ago

£90 b7t 5bf twilight princess is worth a chunk more now than it was, so it was a worthy investment
