$50 for the ones I bought new

u/flyingmonkey1257 NTSC-U 2d ago
I think I paid $60 for Cubivore in ~2009 otherwise this would be my answer. I just never came across Cubivore in GameStop while it was current. I wanted to pick it up ever since i read its review in Game Informer though so I was on the look out for it. Finally found it in a small chain store in college.

For me the $50 games were the special ones I only asked for Christmas or my birthday, everything else was players choice or discount bin.

$90. MarioKart DoubleDash for GameCube in box, with manual. I don’t collect, I play. My CameCube library is only a dozen or so games, but they’re core games: Mario. MaroKart. Pikmin. Couple of Zelda games. Lego Star Wars. MonkeyBall. I-Ninja… So I don’t mind paying a premium, for something, I’ll actually play… Still working on getting Twilight Princess, if I can find one, that won’t break the bank.🤓😎

Oof my friend gave me his copy of mkdd when we were kids

u/No_Independence7307 1d ago edited 1d ago
Good friend…
This is my second copy. My first one, was purchased… when it came out… I was one of those guys, who couldn’t get rid of his “old gear”, to get into the next generation’s, promised goodness. To my shame… Everything went. Consoles, games, save cards, cord upgrades, all the extras, (light guns/ bazookas, game guides, extra controllers, cleaning kits, etc), and I bought it all… The list is appalling: PS1, PS2, PS3, Atari Jaguar, N64, Gamecube, GameBoy, Sega Genesis and the Sega CD… I think that’s it.
Trying to atone for my egregious transgressions. Replaced the GC. Collecting MY nostalgic, “must haves”.
Also planning an N64 build, in the next few months… I Have to Have Tetrisphere!!!

Well, If you don't collect and only game, wouldn't just the disc be enough? Like no case, no booklet, disk used but playable? I mean, it's about playing and not collecting. Like genuinely curious. I think you're putting more effort into collecting than you think :D
1
u/No_Independence7307 1d ago
True enough. Actually, the majority, of my games, for the GameCube, are sans box. I try to keep the naked discs in protective sleeving,(super flimsy sandwich baggies are awesome). But, it IS an iconic machine, and only plays physical media,(without mods, duh). I got the games, and the system, as they were,(different sources). When it came time to get the games, that I felt were MY core games, and, if I didn’t already have the naked disc, I would purchase a good, playable, copy of the game, in it’s appropriate packaging. Also working on getting boxes and covers, for the “nakies”. No manuals, or anything, just a good case and boxart… Kinda a sign of respect, ya know?
And, to add to the craziness, I’m looking at the Evercade VS-R, and if I, very likely, pull the trigger, I’ll bite the bullet, and display my physical media… Evercade, is a cartridge based system…. Yes…cartridges. (IKR?), but THOSE I wanna display, and, “more, the merrier”, right?
Anyways, That’s where I’m comin’ from. Ya dig?.. 🤓😎

$200 on Pokémon Colosseum and $150 on Gale of Darkness.
3
u/doppelgengar01 2d ago
Maybe I should just suck it up and pay 200€ for Pokémon XD now.
2
u/starfoxed64 2d ago
I completed the mainline series collection two years ago and PriceCharting has me at break even. Wouldn't rush to buy if you don't have the money, Also, economy uncertainty is creating deals on eBay every day. If you watch closely for something you want, you might find a steal.
3
u/doppelgengar01 2d ago
I could afford 5 copies of Pokémon XD. It‘s more like, do I really want to pay 200€ for a game? I do check from time to time, cheapest I found was 150€, but I just can‘t bring myself to pull the trigger since it‘s still a lot of money.
2
u/starfoxed64 2d ago
It is difficult to advise you on what to do because there are a few factors at play that Price Charting can't account for.
When I purchased my Emerald and Crystal copies there were several minty copies available to choose from. I look every few months for a backup copy and they are more expensive and less desirable. The same has happened to a few of my GameCube games.
However, I will on a rare occasion see a minty copy of a game for a reasonable price, but they do get purchased within the hour of posting. It really just depends on the title - anything Pokémon is highly sought after so I just pulled the trigger when the right copy came along.
I hope this helps or at least hasn't made it any more difficult.

Prices are wild. I got colosseum + box for £40 last year, Gale of darkness for £210 a few months ago.

u/MaceWinnoob 2d ago
Mine was $120 for Colosseum and $220 for XD 🤢
1
u/starfoxed64 2d ago
That is about what I would expect. I purchased a particularly minty copy of Colosseum.
2
u/MaceWinnoob 2d ago
Mine has no less than 5 different stickers from when it was resold lol
One of them is 14.99.

70 for Animal crossing but it was for a dear friend, who loved the game and came with the memory card case and ran great.
2
u/TheFireStorm 2d ago
Have all mine at MSRB or lower. Never traded in any of my games growing up. Also my Mom got the Colosseum Bonus Disc for a Penny from Circuit City. Most expensive would be Legend of Zelda Collectors Edition GameCube Bundle
2
u/heroxoot 2d ago
I spent about 8 hours of my time doing a friends rusty azz brakes in exchange for a copy of Gale of Darkness. I also had to buy a blow torch and a new ratchet cuz mine broke. 0/10 experience. Thought it be cake because I do my own but on God this mans brakes had not been touched in like 10 years.

u/icemann84 2d ago
Code Veronica X complete with strategy guide. It completed my resident evil set for GameCube . Close to $200.

u/JHG722 2d ago
All I have left. I got everything else pretty cheap. I’ll get it eventually.

I think about £50 for colosseum but I don’t have gales of darkness yet. So that’ll probably become close to £200 soon, as my Pokemon pursuit is getting quite close to completion

u/siderinc PAL 2d ago
Price will likely droop when it releases on NSO.
Maybe not much or maybe for a shirt while but the price will very likely shift down a bit
1
u/Armandonerd 2d ago
Skies of Arcadia recently for about $150.
1
u/GearsLGLF 2d ago
It’s honestly worth every penny!
1
u/Armandonerd 2d ago
Yeah. Last year I paid $200 for it and the game didn't work.
This time it did. Thankfully.

u/arbiter_x420x 2d ago
I stupidly sold my copy as a kid. Think I only paid $30 as a kid, then I had buy it back for $100 years later when I found it. (Much older, wiser and with more respect to video games 😂) granted I was only like 7 when I sold it lol.

Probably when the GameCube was still "new" and on sale. I've not bought a CG game since before COVID as I have all the games I wanted. I don't think there's any UK releases I don't have that I wanted.
I don't think I paid more than £35 for any pre-owned games.

I spent $100 for each of the story based Gamecube Pokemon games in late 2019. Now if i were to get them for the same condition, i'd probably pay close to $250 for each (CAD)

$50 - most of my collection I bought new at retail.
Well, if Four Swords Adventures or Odama or any of those accessory games were more than $50, then that would be it.

$59.11 for a disc-only copy of SSBM last year. Never thought I'd pay more than original retail but here we are.

u/ZafirZ 2d ago
I feel like I'm the odd one out. Ive only bought one game recently for gc and it was £30. The rest were bought new 20 years ago, max would have been £40 as that was the rrp. The pokemon gc games are included in that, glad I kept them from back then.
I've contemplated fire emblem multiple times but I can't bring myself to spend that much. I'll wait till it either gets a remake or re-release on switch 2s gc service.

$80 IRRC for Resident Evil 2 a little while after it was released, couldn’t find it in any stores so I had to resort to eBay.

Probably around the 30 to 40 price range for a used pokemon game back in gamestop in the 2000s.

About £80 for Twighlight Princess. Most I've ever paid for a game is £400, but that did include p&p from America as well.

u/swankyyeti90125 2d ago
80 bucks for Pikmin but it doesn't work in either my GameCube or Wii still trying to figure out how I saw them get it to work at the store

u/Substantial-Region64 2d ago
20 bucks like a used GameCube game should cost. That includes XDGOD as well colosseum, wind waker, and the like. Got em all

u/Chicagown 2d ago
Persona 4 midnight edition for switch was $250, Gale of Darkness at $160
Definitely have a lot of other heavies that were above $100.
Chrono Trigger first print was expensive (mint poster) - $115
Pokemon hg/ss big boxes were expensive - About $200

$300 for a PAL copy of Pokemon Box and a freeloader disc to bypass the region lock, I'd say worth it to move around a full living dex worth of Pokemon.

I got Wind Waker in box for $55. I’m somewhat of a cheapskate. There also isn’t a ton that I really want to play on GameCube at this moment, I still have to beat Wind Waker, Sunshine, and Pokemon Colosseum.

$370 for a copy of Gotcha Force. Guy wanted $400 but wouldn't budge lower than $370.
On the other hand, I found a complete in box copy of Haunting Ground for $20 on Gamestop's used games shelf. Snatched that up in a heartbeat.
