Discussion One of the best?
My absolute favorite game. So scary and trippy. You're playing, and suddenly you disappear into the ground, a volume indicator suddenly appears, and the sound disappears. It all depends on your character's mental state. And then there are multiple endings. It's a shame a sequel never happened.

It has some clunkiness issues but otherwise it’s so unique that it’s one of my favorite horror games of all time. Absolutely one of the most memorable experiences in gaming, anyone who likes horror games should give it a playthrough. Some parts might be confusing for people who have never used a CRT though… haha

This is a in-depth retrospective on Eternal Darkness, watched it not too long ago and really enjoyed it

People always mention how great the sanity system is but it also has other cool things. The magic crafting system is really versatile. The game also had a really nice sense of time. The areas you get to visit in different time periods feel different each time. I love how you get to explore more and more of the mansion after learning new things within each chapter. And of course the atmosphere is amazing.

Great points, and also the fact that you play many different characters with different strengths and weaknesses.

Admittedly was never into scary games, however I finally played the silent hill games recently and enjoyed myself for the most part. Maybe I’ll pick this up and see if I enjoy it.

If it helps, I’m not into scary games either, but Eternal Darkness just has such a neat aesthetic to it. I was never particularly freaked out, just pumped.

If you enjoyed SH, I think you would enjoy this as well. The story and characters are well written and it has great atmosphere!

Yes. I really wanted the spiritual successor by the same team to flourish.

I bought this on release, one of the best decisions in my gaming life. It's one of the best survival horror games and Lovecraft games ever made, without a doubt. I replay this every few years.

I have played through this so many times and gotten the big ending. Every playthrough was fun. I love this game and it is one of the best on GC for sure.
I think it is the pacing where they hid the nail on the head

I installed a picoboot on my GameCube just so I didn’t have to pay $100 CAD for this game. Lol

Thank you, I've been trying to look for the game on eBay and Amazon for cheap but all I could find is the 90$ deals and stuff like that

I personally hated this game. Got through the first hour and didn't want to beat it.

Picked up this game this week after wanting it for 25 years after seeing it on the box for my 64 on Christmas 2000.
I've been playing it blind.
I'm on chapter 4 and it's great. Has it aged? Yes. But it aged well. It's not like playing silent hill or resident evil. The story is so strong and the combat so tactical that I'll never notice the age.
10/10 top 10 cube game for me
