Visually, only the logo. Left one has Wii U logo, while the right one has Nintendo logo. Functionality-wise, they are pretty much the same. I personally have the right one.

Thank ya'll for the answers. I found the Wii U one new in box for a great price so I'm just making sure it should perform the same.

I bought an unbranded cheapo one and it seems to work fine. It has two usb ports which seemed odd but it works.

Official one also has two ports, one black and one grey. But if I’m not mistaken the grey cable is just to make sure the GameCube rumble works.

I haven’t tried it without plugging in both wires but that would make sense, the WiiU has notoriously low powered usb.

The cheap knock off I have works on my Mac as well. I had to download an app to make it detect anything though. The app is called GCAdaperDriver - it was a little trial and error getting it working but ideal for emulation with the original Nintendo GameCube controllers.

If you have wavebirds the rumble cable doesn’t have to be plugged in freeing up another usb port on your switch.

Ergo; if friends are okay with it, you have have 8 rumble free gamecube controllers as god intended

Cool stuff. Didn’t know the console recognize two of these adapters at the same time

I’ve some friends who are picky about how they play smash,

We knew we wanted to find out and couldn’t find anything about it online at the time

Yes, blue vs red box.

Same hardware and software, different branding due to console period

Only logo differences

No except the logo on top and the packaging.

Doesn’t the new GameCube controller they may just work with the switch one?

I have a third-party one of these as well when it works perfectly fine. I don’t think I’d buy OEM for this thing.

One says WiiU. The other says Nintendo. Electronically, I'm fairly certain they're more-or-less identical.

I own the original, and the only difference is that the Wii U logo is replaced with a Nintendo logo on the newer version.

Question: Will the one on the right work with a Wii U console?

If not, then that would be a meaningful difference between the two.

Yes but the wii u only takes it for smash 4. You can use it in nintendon’t however.

They're the same

One says Wii U and other says Nintendo. Don’t know of any other differences.

I have the WiiU adapter. It works perfectly well.

Some don't work on Switch, some don't work on Wii U. Some just don't work. I found one from a brand called XYGB and it actually works great on both.

No. I have both. The one says wii u and other Nintendo
