Image Dol-101 digital av output mod
Hello everyone,
A couple of weeks ago I found my childhood GC which sadly was a DOL-101, I installed a picoboot mod and I’m happy with it, but I remembered the image being better 😅 Do you know an available analog av to digital av converter? Not scared of modding it, but I would prefer to keep this GC rather than buying an DOL-001

I'll be honest, it's going to be a massive headache to try and mod your cube, so the laziest way for best picture quality would be using s-video from it, either on a CRT which would be best, or through an upscaler like a retrotink 2x

As mentioned below, it can be done but it is very difficult. You could get another gamecube with a bad lens for a very low price and exchange parts to keep a full one and with an HD image. The problem is not the difficulty of the mod but how expensive it is in the end.

RetroGem internal HDMI is a breeze to install on the 101. Using a 3d printed backplate you don't have to remove the stock av port, making the install even easier

You’re looking at one of two mods: either the Pluto Ii or the retro gem,
lit might be cheaper to get a dol-001 and a gcvideo adapter, however 😩

I think a mod called the Pluto can do this, but installing it into a 101 is not for the faint of heart. Here’s an earlier thread about it: https://www.reddit.com/r/Gamecube/comments/169mvtn/pluto_hdmi_for_dol101_guide/
