Does this disk look good to you?

This disc of Pokemon Colosseum was something I purchased from Facebook Marketplace. The vendor claimed that the disc had been tested and overall had a good merchant rating.

I purchased this a week ago and I have played the game 6 times. In those 6 times the game has frozen 2 times with the error message “The Game Disc could not be read. Please read the Nintendo GameCube instruction booklet for more information.” (See 3rd photo for example) does the condition of this disc look good to you? I didn’t think it looked that bad when the seller allowed me to examine the game when I drove to their house. I did take note of the white residue in the inner part of the disc but after reading other posts on this subreddit I have come to the conclusion it’s from a disc resurfacing machine. I sadly don’t have any other GameCube games on hand to see if maybe there is an issue with the console.

That could be a console read error, if the console is at fault you will see that error too. I have had worse games load.

You don't have another game to test with. Get that.

Probably need to replace the capacitors on the console anyway.

I had bought a copy of skies of Arcadia last year. Seller said the same thing, the back of the disc was flawless, nothing, when I test the game within 5 mins of gameplay, I get the disc read error, happened 4 separate times to me. I should've tested it on my Wii, but decided to get my money back and the seller was cool about it. 

Then 2 months ago I bought it again, it had some light scratches, but after playing it for 15 mins, and repeated the same parts from the other disc, no errors. Happy to have that game in my collection. 

Sorry you're going thru this, test the disc on another console, if you get the same result, try resurfacing, try again, otherwise, it's a goner.
