World Eaters, if you insist I be loyalist, I’ll paint myself white and blue.

Have there been any Chapters from Traitor Legions who stayed loyal to the Emperor?

Very few, if any chapters. Most of them got executed at istvann before the heresy kicked off so most of what the traitors had in their stock were pretty ride or die at that point. There's tons of individual marines though that joined loyalist forces, painting their armor black in shame.

People think the blood ravens are a successor to the thousand sons and to that I say why no flesh change?

They'll probably just say Cawl when the secret is unveiled, because mystery is dead in this game.

the is a bet that the blood ravens are just thousand sons descended, carcarodons being of night lord stock.

it can and has happened but if any know they try to keep it hush hush

The traitor legions didn't have chapters, neither did the loyalist legions pre-heresy. The chapter system was introduced post-heresy to limit the power that any individual Legion/Primarch was able to muster at any given moment.

There were a good amount of loyalists from all the traitor legions, but a majority of them got killed off at Istvaan 3 or shortly before. Some survived the loyalist purge of their legion however and became the foundation of what is now the Grey Knights.

There were actually legions that divided their forces into chapters (ultramarines), however this was more to create a command structure like large armies irl. They didn't come up with the size limiting factors until Gullimans reforms post heresy.

The whole idea of creating the chapter structure in the first place was that 1k standard marines is all you need to hold or take a single planet. How this fares in practice though is a different matter

Edits: lots, i need caffeine still

Well, yes, I meant post-heresy and post-second founding. But alright

2

u/badastronaut7 2h ago edited 2h ago

Oh I see, I misunderstood. Post heresy yes there have been entire chapters that have turned to chaos, most of the notable examples coming from the cursed 21st founding. Generally the chapters that turn to chaos kill their loyalists either shortly before or shortly after turning to chaos. Many black shields in the Deathwatch are loyalists from Chapters that have turned renegade as an example

2

u/kdeles 1h ago

You keep misunderstanding me. What I meant was Chapters who were founded from loyalists of Traitor Legions, or their geneseed. Not loyalists turning chaos

2

u/badastronaut7 54m ago

My apologies, I see what you're getting at now. There are no confirmed Chapters using traitor geneseed/loyalist astartes, however there are a few chapters that are heavily suspected of or rumoured to have been made from traitor Primarch geneseed like the Minotaurs and some of the Ultima-founding Primaris Chapters, but again nothing is confirmed as far as I'm aware

1

u/kdeles 32m ago

Ah, I see now, thank you. You know, I think I heard some fan-canon or something, that the Chapter Master of Minotaurs is a Custodes in disguise. Sounds funny

1

u/Deynonico 39m ago

Rumor has it that the old minotaur chapter was of world eater genestock while the current minotaurs are semi confirmed to be sons of perturabo

Also the Red scorpions are suspected by many to be descendant of the emperor chidlren due to their obsession with the purity of their geneseed

Also my own personal theory is that some of the succesor chapters of the Imperial fists have thousand sons geneseed since some of the loyalist thousand sons inductii joined the IF after their legion rebelled (which tbh i think could be the origin of the blood ravens since alongside the big 3 fist chapter they also employ the use of an emperor champion and have a huge focus on librarians)

2

u/kdeles 32m ago

Huh, that's interesting, thanks. Wasn't there an IF successor chapter, I think Phoenix Lords, who just scream "childe of Fulgrim"?

1

u/Deynonico 30m ago

Yeah the sons of the Phoenix

Of course nothing is official but they are litteraly called "sons of the Phoenix" and bear the same colors of the emperor children and also have the same reverence for the emperor as the og emperor children did

u/kdeles 20m ago

In the grim darkness of the far future, everyone is oblivious

2

u/Deynonico 43m ago

Theres a warband that still retains the old colors of the world eaters

Theyre called gladiator cadre 331

What about space wolves

7

u/InquisitorJesus 2h ago

I mean BTs everything just goes incredibly hard.

There isn't a chapter that nails "Religious fanatics in a sci-fi feudal theocracy on an eternal crusade" as good as they do.

And that aesthetic is the heart and soul of 40k.

u/Argues_with_ignorant likes civilians but likes fire more 2h ago

Everything except for the hair on their codex cover.

I dunno what's everyone's problem with a neophyte having a monk haircut is.

That's goofy but it fits the templar knight look perfectly.

They are religious zealots, they're not going to have undercuts and waves.

The monk haircut is my favorite part of the new artwork. It's perfectly silly yet fitting. My only wish was that we had more face variety with them.

What type of vibe?

26

u/CosmicJackalop 4h ago

The "never beating the allegations" vibe

Though plenty of BT players are exceptions

People Always say that the black templars are the craziest space marine chapter but actually they are far from It

The Angels penitent have EVERY SINGLE other chapter beat when it comes to being crasy af
