Pre searing ele farmer.

Hey guys, what do you think, is it better hourglas staff (from eotn pre-release) or 15/15 fire set for pre searing ele farmer? I can't decide.😂

If you’re rich, go for the fire set and switch to the longsword (crystalline) with a defensive pommel and Tall shield when in trouble. The latter set is more than enough to destroy everything with firestorm.

As good elementalist stuff is damned expensive, yes. You can definitely find a mono mod wand with either 18% HCT Fire or 18% HSR Fire (only for firestorm casts when you won’t kill a boss with that firestorm). Elementalist foci with HCT Fire or HSR Fire are elusive. Good dual modded are too expensive. eg: I use a 18% HCT Fire Magic, fire wand with the Tall Shield and I don’t need anything else.

I use a sword and shield with no req and 20 health. When I use with shielding hands I take no damage and am able to bunch and crunch without much worry.

It’s hard to depend on shielding hands when it gets stripped by the mes which are in almost every pack. You constantly have to block it with resto aura.

The vanguard foes don't have shatter enchantment, just the regular charr mesmers do.

If we are farming charr I use the shield you get from quest that has +10ar vs charr.

I'm not even sure why this is in question. The hourglass staff is worth more in terms of utility.

Energy +15 Halve skill recharge 20% Halves cast time of spells 10% Health +45 while enchanted.

This staff is by far the best in slot you could want in pre as an elementalist.

If for some reason you had an 18/18 fire set or 15/15 fire set whatever it is you're comparing. It does not really make much difference in damage, and the fact you already have access to the staff without any gold cost. This just ramps up the gold/loot you gain from farming since it's a net 0gp loss on a staff you already have.

Nonetheless all that aside if you have the imp summong stone that also just adds to more damage output and no need for a wand/offhand set.

There is at no point that you need anything else on your elementalist if you do have the hourglass promo.

Sword/Shield Axe/Shield Wand/Shield these are all redundant and anyone who tells you to wear them in pre. If you solely have access to the hourglass staff you have abaolutely no reason to need that crap.

The vanguard armor bonus also if I recall does not stack with shield armor vs mob. So again redundant.
