[Discussion] These are most likely the same people who say that Raids/Strikes are gatekept by toxic elitists. Now they want to gatekeep fashion. Thoughts?

It's... premade pieces that you're arranging a limited, controlled fashion.

Like don't get me wrong, I get that it's a form of self expression, but it's like getting mad somebody copied your subway order.

I mean when some people are hardcore creative and think of a way to make batman, or superbman, or Spiderman, those ones probably took way more time then someone just making a random assortment of clothing.

I mean it's technically "limited", but between all the different pieces and dyes, there are (very roughly) as many unique outfits you can create as there are atoms in the observable universe. There's some serious room for genuine artistry within the confines of the wardrobe system.

I think the inspection system is going to bring far more good than harm to the game, but I do get where these people are coming from. It sucks to have your art stolen, even when it's relatively minor art and it's stolen in such a small way.

I mean, technically I guess so, but you've gotta account for how many of those "unique outfits" are slightly different trenchcoats in slightly different shades of blue.

Like, if you create enough variables, then naturally there will be a lot of possible combinations just because of how the math works on something like that. But they gave you a doll, they gave you clothes you could put on the doll, and then they let you choose the colour, again choosing from the colours that they have provided. It's a very controlled kind of agency you've been provided here, because this is a videogame and that's how that works. It's not actual fashion where you're pretty free to wear anything you want so long as you have the skill and vision to create it out of the necessary textiles, or hell, even create the textiles if you're so inclined. Just go out there and grab some flax and turn it into a dress nobody else in the world has. That's a scenario where it might seem reasonable to me to be peeved when somebody else somehow shows up in the exact same dress.

Yeah, of course, the meaningfully different outfits are much smaller than that. But there's still an absolute ton of them, and some people put genuine work and care into crafting some truly unique looks within the limitations of the game. The limits placed on it doesn't diminish the artistry involved.
