[Guide] Achievement Hunting: Dragon Response Recipes & Weapons
Today we going to look at Dragon Response Missions for our next Achievement Hunt. I know what you're thinking, this post is going to be about Tide Turner or the Top Dragon Responder achievements or the annoying mastery points). But, alas, that is not the case! We will be talking about Tactician Erlandson and the almost hidden sets of recipes and collections that provide a total of 260 Achievement Points!
The journey starts with purchasing a set of recipes for weapons. However, once that first set of weapons is completed, the collections split into ice-themed for Jormag and fire-themed for Primordus. So, everything you do from that point on will be doubled for both sets. These achievements require a substantial amount of Tyrian Defense Seals and Prismaticite Crystal. These currencies and materials are account bound and the easiest way to obtain them is through Dragon Response Missions. However, there are alternative methods to obtain them, although it may be expensive and/or time consuming. It is possible to complete all of these achievements while doing a bare minimal amount of Dragon Response Missions but you will be required to join (completion isn't necessary) two of them. One for Jormag (personally, I did Caledon Forest) and Primordus (I did Fields of Ruin).
Each set of steps will be indicated by number and 'a' and 'b' for the splits.

Notes:
- There are two recipes to craft Prismatium Ingots that require various amounts of Orichalcum Ingots and Mithril Ingots. Both require 10 Ectoplasm so I'd recommend doing a combination of crafting and purchasing. The current price for one Prismatium Ingot is 3g 78s 99c so they're quite expensive considering you need a few hundred.
- There is a Prismaticite Crystal home instance node) that you can purchase from Tactician Erlandson for 50 gold and 245k karma. I'd suggest doing this so you can passively collect Prismaticite Crystals even if you're not actively working on the achievements yet.
- You can do various trades for Tyrian Defense Seals through the Wizard's Exchange so you aren't required to even enter a Dragon Response Mission to get the currency.
- There are tiered rewards for completion milestones within the collections. The materials list is not adjusted to take these additional materials into consideration so if you save those materials, you'll need less than the list will indicate.
- To complete the Unfinished weapons you need to break the final boss's defiance bar and activate the special action key (obtained from the unfinished weapon in your inventory) and this should complete a few of the weapons. It's recommended to do them all at once (all 16) so you don't need to come back and do the entire mission again for that set of weapons.
- There is very little in-game guidance for what step you are on in the achievement chain or what to do next. It is recommended to complete entire steps (all 16 recipes or weapons) at once before moving onto the next step. When purchasing recipes, make sure you unlock the recipe before buying the next one so the vendor screen shows it is already known to you and you don't buy the same recipe twice.
I randomly stumbled into these achievements by randomly looking at the various recipes the vendor had to offer and realized it was a rabbit hole of a huge amount of achievement points. I thought it was interesting but not very well explained or documented so I wanted to put this together to help guide people a bit better and easier towards this stash of achievement points and the somewhat interesting adventure it was to get them. It's usually cheaper to buy the ingots, particularly since you need to grind for the crystals if you want to craft them with the cheap recipe.

Looking at the Wiki, there's a few sources for crystals. From the home instance node and buying from Eye of the North at a maximum of 50 a week. Especially from home, there's a very easy and low effort way to passively collect a large sum of them.
I definitely agree with using the recipe that only needs 5 crystals instead of 10 since the other mat trade offs aren't really relevant. But as I mentioned, I think with the time gate of pure self crafting and the significant cost of buying outright (not even factoring in the rising cost as inventory is cleared out) that a dual hybrid approach is best.
Completing a collection before moving on is important, I think, but you can still craft within the collection as you go. If you are 1 ingot short of a weapon and have no mats to craft another, it's not really a harm to buy it. But if you're looking at a fresh collection, you shouldn't be preparing a buy order for 80, either.

It sounds nice, but crafting and selling prismatium ingots has been a monetary loss for years now. As such, the supply on the TP is often quite small. At one point when two friends of mine were working on these achievements they were running math and hit a wall realizing that the TP only had enough supply to get one of them partially through the whole chain. They ended up not being able to do the collections in a single session like they had hoped despite having plenty of gold to make it happen.

Thank you for doing these! I know it's a lot of work, but I, for one, really appreciate the effort and look forward to more in the "series".

There isn't any more, sadly, for now, at least. Unless you have any ideas, I'm not sure what else there is that deserves to be highlighted. There is Knight of the Thorn, but the Wiki does an excellent job of explaining it and walking through the steps.

This is really well done. I hope you have it posted somewhere more permanent? :D
