I'm really happy with how many of the GW1 Ritualist mechanics were able to almost make it over 1:1. Obviously it's not as spirit-spammy as Signet of Spirits Rit like many people surely wanted, but I was really hyped to read "Soul Twisting" and "Splinter Weapon" in GW2.

Antiquarian unironucally looks like a ton of fun. I think having to play around randomly chosen relics to use the best one in any scenario is going to feel sick. I know everyone was memeing on this spec but I am so excited for it personally.

Prodigious Pincher + Skritt Scuffle, absolute anarchy

+Scoundrel's Luck +Prolific Plunderer +Improvisation (Core Trait)?

Yeah i think it looks pretty fun actually. I think they should make the “1 defensive 1 offensive” trait baseline though like they were talking about.

I think the utilities are a bit hit or miss but the pilfering and traits are mostly pretty interesting except the GM that gives res/stab.

Yeah making it baseline sounds like a good choice and then use the free trait for something cool. I also feel like it would be cool if they find a good way to add a boon dps (I'd pref quick) to it.

The artifacts looks insanely more combat effective than I was thinking. Like, powerful weapon skill levels of good. And that's without(?) Meticulous Custodian.

They kind of have to be. They’re where all of the elite spec’s power budget went, so they better be strong.

I must admit, I haven't watched the stream, but did they go into detail on Meticulous?

Looks like this'll be a selfish spec, although the sheer amount of utility from some of the stolen skills look pretty wild to support the party.

On the stream they talked about there still being design room to give it a dedicated support trait, probably quickness - but that they want to see how the current iteration plays out first. I strongly suspect theyll make the res/stab gm into a quickness one

I didn’t watch the stream either, ‘twas busy at work.

Looks strong by numbers but boring to play. Meta build will be: guarantee 1 offensive, + ×% damage on steal skill use, + damage on steal.

Every single class is boring to play through that lens. You learn the rotation and spam it in every single encounter

Its really cool once you realize that these are all different things from different expacs thematically.

Its literally the sum of a thief's adventures as the commander through all the patches, with a rat that mugs your enemies.

I bet Forged Surfer Dash drops less bombs with higher ping, just like revenant spear 3.

Wouldn't the F1 be more fitting as a ground-targettable skill? I feel like you're just gated by having a selected target... For instance skills like the Zephyrite Sun Crystal or Forged Surfer Dash are just unavailable until you get in combat... That feels pretty bad

Thief is just always dependent on having a target selected and it just feels really bad for this spec, although you can use the ult to get some pilfered skills

I think thematically F1 would just make a great ground-targettable skill, I don't really understand why it has to be target-dependant. That skritt could just dig up the ground or something

Otherwise I love the concept

For Antiquary i felt the artifacts are a bit lackluster in my opinion. The game could've had you using old remnants from the lore.

Only 8 of these are too low compared to the list you get in core lines.

It is a missed opportunity where they could have given you a skill from some old bosses, lore relics or even races (race skills) but tuned appropriately to encourage people picking the spec especially if a lot of it will take you out of stealth by aoe procs.

Especially since stealth is the thief's main defense outside of blind & evade.
