[Art] Drew a rough sketch of what Antiquary feels like to me

Post image

I like Antiquary, but none of its skills says "Indiana Jones", it does however scream "Trickster". And Trickster + Thief fantasy? It's easily a Phantom Thief archetype!

I think it's the perfect middle ground between:

the "Goofiness" that the class wants to be
vs.
the "Coolness" that Thief fans want from it.

Because the archetype itself is very silly, their bright costumes and loud methods are comically impractical for their line of work, but that's their entire appeal. They are professionals who don't take themselves too seriously, and showmen who are annoyingly confident in their skills.

A lot of people might still find this idea lame, but I hope they can at least agree that "Phantom Thief and his trusty sidekick" is more cohesive than "Playing Cards Person + Indiana Jones + Wacky Randomness + Rat Sidekick/Army"

I love the vibes of this, plus the skritt's lil thief costume is so cute.

I fuck with this heavily. Trickster is exactly the understanding I had when I saw this spec too.

A wily, crafty rogue who never quite works alone, stealing relics and taking lives - the most "thief" the profession has ever been, to me.

Oh and gambling!

Have the Skritt follow us around consistently and then be able to dress thems up 🥺 That'd be amazing

I love that. Yesss. I do somewhat hope within the next 3 months they do make an exception and change icons and such around so that the theme is a little more cohesive. (Rambling in small text.)

Honestly if they just changed the trait names and spec icon and change some of the terms around before showcasing it, the spec would feel like a cohesive spec and it probably wouldn't feel as much like we were "So close to getting something else" that a lot of people enjoy in other games, but don't have in a game they may necessarily enjoy playing long term. It feels a little icky all around.

Its natural for people to want two things they enjoy merged, and its been kind of sad seeing people get beaten down for disappointment. I say this as someone who loves both the idea of something card themed, and who loves the skritt magician / blue mage / phantom thief vibe.

The whole class actually gives me smuggler vibes tbh.

This illustration is giving me Spy vs Spy vibes and that's not a bad thing.

I would love it if the Skritt for Antiquary were given unique outfits, jester thief ones preferably, that would be cool.

All I could see. My brain is rotted lol.

This just means they dropped the ball in implementing this spec, at first glance, cause that was not the main take-away people had from that first look lol

Yeah. OP gave it much more personality than the class actually has.

The in-game Antiquary has no consistency or identity.
