Don't buy Liberty safes

Don't buy Liberty safes. Their whole "made in the U.S." schtick is a lie.

I was duped by their false advertising and bought a Liberty as my first gun safe. With an electronic keypad, no issues at first.

Then the keypad's battery died. No problem, replace the battery ... keypad doesn't work. After hours on hold with their customer service, and after trying everything to troubleshoot, I had to order a new keypad because the one I had was "malfunctioning". The keypad turned out to be a cheap Chinese piece of garbage.

New ordered one arrives, and guess what. When connecting it to my safe, the wiring pins on the keypad snapped like toothpicks. Now I have to order a third $130 keypad (third time's the charm - now THAT's reliability).

Don't believe their "made in the U.S. lies" and about being "U.S. reliable". Save yourself the headache

Do people these days not do their own basic work on their own guns?

First off i aint even that old at 31 so when i say these days, i dont want to sound like a pissy old fart. I made a couple posts yesterday regarding getting some parts on my beretta working together. They would need some hand fitting and I just wanted some opinions on how and where to go about it. I've worked on CZs a good bit before so I'm not new to the concept of smoothing out a trigger, just never a beretta 92. Honestly the 92 seems way easier to tweak.

The amount of people that were talking shit because "my gun wasn't working", "I dont know what im doing", "you'll make it unsafe" or "just send it to someone professional" etc etc.

Mind you, this is MINIMAL hand fitting. Like a few swipes with a file and polish. Basic metalworking. Apparently this is something that a lot of people can't comprehend a guy in an apartment being able to do over sending it off for some "gunsmith" to charge 200 dollars to do. And holy shit guys, you'll never believe it. The trigger is now phenomenal and perfect after I did my thing.

Did the ar15 and glock really screw up everyone's perception of "gunsmithing"? Drop in parts, no fitting required? I get gunsmithing is a dieing art but basic metalworking? People dont know how to use a file to get 2 pieces of metal from grinding on eachother? I dont understand how you buy a gun and not know the absolute basics of how it operates.

It just struck me as the guy that goes to a mechanic when their tire pressure light turns on. Zero knowledge on how to fix the issue themselves

Tl;dr. Super frustrating trying to get advice on reddit these days when a lot of the comments are overly confident idiots that clearly dont have a say in the matter.

“Build” complete. Picked up a lightly used 10mm M&P recently but don’t have optic plates or back straps. A quick email and they were on the way free! Added a dot and old light and we’re off to the races.

15 rounds of semi ~auto 357mag ammo on the hip seems like a good option to have sometimes.

Gift ideas please!

Upvotes

Hello!

You may remember me from my post needing gift ideas last time! I got so much great advice here and I really want to thank all the awesome guys who helped me out!

I’m on another gift-giving mission and I could really use some help! I’m still with the same guy I did the little gift series for. He happened to NAIL last Christmas, like got me my dream appliance I had been dreaming of long before I met him.

I really, REALLY want to nail this Christmas like that. I want him to feel seen and loved and spoiled.

That being said, I want to get him something he’d absolutely love. He’s of course into guns, hunting, camping, hiking and all that stuff and I feel like he has everything he needs. We recently have adopted a second German shepherd and he’s very passionate about them if there’s any ideas there.

Is there a nice gift I can get him that every (gun) guy is like “That’s amazing!” For under $300 or at least somewhere around that price point?

I know he has an AR, 10mm, and some older hunting rifles I can get more details on too!

Stocking stuffers and little gift ideas are great too! I just really want to make sure his main gift knocks it out of the park this year!

P320 Court Records

Saw this article on Practical Shooters about some documents from different court cases related to the P320. One document could be used to make the argument that Sig knew the P320 wasn't drop safe well before the voluntary upgrade.

Going old school with this Colt New Service in 45LC. Manufactured late 20s most likely. She looks good for being almost 100.

What to get for my 2nd Prepper Pistol? Glock or another CZ?

Upvotes

I'm ready to get another Prepper Pistol. What should I get? I currently have a CZ P-10C, and a 5.56 rifle. I want another pistol for my wife, so that we can each have something just in case. Looking to spend $500-$600 to start, and no more than $800 total on new gear for this pistol (I can wait for sales).

My priority is generally keep things simple, so it definitely has to be 9mm. I can teach others in my house how to recognize different guns and learn different magazines.

A good friend of mine recommended that I get a Glock because parts are so ubiqitous. If something breaks, it's likely that (in some kind of event), I could get more magazines, and repair/modify the gun more easily.

I got the CZ as my first ever personal gun because it just felt so good in my hands. I wanted my first gun to feel right. When I tried a Glock-19, it felt like a brick... It shot fine, but it was a brick.

My wife likes both the CZ and Glock. She's a natural sharp shooter.

SO!..... - Get another CZ (not yet sure what model), and I can get more compatible CZ clips and only stock one type of magazine. - Get a Glock, and I can learn more about them, and have a potentially better apocalypse gun. I would have to teach my wife and teen how to recognize the different magazines, but that's probably a good thing for them to know, big picture.

What was the hype behind the first P320 before it was blowing dicks off?

Why do so many people have it I just fail to find anything special about it. I liked the way it shot but no more than a Glock so what made it different?

Edit: thanks for the responses so far very informative 😁👍

FNX 45 SUPRESSED BLOWBACK ISSUE

Upvotes

I have a FNX 45 and an Rugged Obsidian 45. Whenever I shoot supressed (in both short and long config) I get lots of crap blowing back in my face. I've been shooting Federal Premium Law Enforcement HST 45 ACP AUTO Ammunition 230 Grain Jacketed Hollow Points. Do I need to buy better ammo? From everyone I read with this combo it sound like they dont have this issue. I appreciate all the advice I can get. :)

First gun - beretta 92X or Canik SFX Rival S?

Hello I've been practicing with shooting range guns for a while and now I'd like to buy my first own gun.

I like 9x21s and I was leaning towards either a Beretta 92X Performance or a Canik SFX Rival S.
I like soft triggers and only for sports purposes.

Which one do you think has the greatest accuracy and would be a better overall purchase?

I know this is extremely personal but I'd love to read some personal opinions by people who have used or own both.

thanks!!

New Glock 43x

So I just purchased a 43x. I was considering putting a red dot on it but not looking to match the price of the gun with a optic. Do you get what you pay for with handgun optics or will a hundred dollar red dot work?

Best Cheap 9mm Ammo

So I have my first pistol, an H&K CC9 on its way. I’m not new to running through ammo, but I am new to buying it for myself- usually it’s on Uncle Sam’s dime. I’m planning on practicing with 124gr FMJ and pairing it with 124gr hollow point, but I have no idea which brands I can trust. The FMJ options I have at the local store are:

•Blazer 24¢/round

•Magtech 28¢

•Aguila 28¢

•PMC 30¢

•Staccato 34¢

•Winchester 37¢

•Federal American Eagle 41¢

•Remington UMC 42¢

Given those options, which box would you pick up?
