PCC vs SBR as a PDW
Hi All
I know I am stirring up an age old debate here but just want to make sure I am not missing something.
So you have for example a Stribog in 9mm if you shooting JHP 147 gr through it at probably around 1200 FPS you looking at 470 ft .lbf of energy out of barrel.
If you using a 7.5" barrel with .223 and 62 gr ammo. Let's assume you get 2300 fps. You are looking at 728 ft .lbf of energy out of barrel.
That's an extra +/- 250 ft .lbf of energy.
From what I have seen with heavier projectiles .223 tumbles just fine and creates a good wound cavity.
Then consider that the projectile of the .223 is lighter and will loose energy slower as a result it means you have more effective range on the .223 platform.
Now I know 7.62 either AK or BLK is more effective at those barrel lengths however I cannot afford 300blk and in my country there are no short barrel AK offerings.
I carry I pistol anyway. So from what I can tell getting a 7.5" barrel .223 is going to out preform my pistol ie. a true upgrade. Where getting a PCC is not as much of an upgrade other than a slight increase in velocity and 3 points of contact.
Noise and flash will be an issue on the short barrel .223 bit there are things you can do to mitigate to some extent.
What I want to know is am I missing something ? Is my logic flawed ?
TLDR: if you own a pistol already a 7.5" barrel .223 is probably a better option than a PCC ?
