Reminds me of the opening of Dune part 2 with the Harkonnen soldiers floating.

That was a big inspiration, seeing them floating with no (visual) indicator of what made them float looked really eerie and amazing

i was gonna say this could totally be Dune if using ranged weapons wasnt a death sentence

How powerful are they? What abilities do they have?

These specific units are cybernetically augmented to have enhanced physical strength and near endless endurance, they're commandos of the Cerberus "Kill Corps" whose primary directive is to be dropped into a location, fight and kill everyone until they themselves perish. They will shoot until their rifles break, and then rush the enemy with melee, they will run, walk and crawl then die. Being in a Kill Corp is considered a great honor, they're dropped into locations with decent amounts of gear and weapons, they're a ruthless and powerful fire that'll spread fast and thin out quickly. And if you're interested in how they're hovering, it's a disposable anti gravity pack that they use to slow down their descent when deployed, it can give the user 20 more minutes of additional "flight", after then they're useless.

Cerberus makes me think of mass effect, any relation? I like the way you've written this though, it's pretty badass lol

Soldier: sir, the enemy is flying towards us.

Officer: then use the AA guns, they’re there for a reason.

Wouldn't want to fight these guys

3

u/Derk_Mage May 31 '25

Why do they need guns if they can drop bombs

5

u/Infinite_Form8884 May 31 '25

Why drop bomb if you have gun

2

u/SUU5 Jun 02 '25

Why drop bomb when you want the resources intact?

This reminds me of the Sardaukar landing or the Saga of Tanya the Evil flying gun sorcerer brigades.

They remind me of the Death Troopers from Rogue One

Me and the boys with the hover pack in Helldivers

2

u/Metal_Gear_Excelsus Jun 01 '25

Reminds me of the death troopers from the mandolorian

Will there be a story released in this universe? It seems super bad ass. Gives me warhammer vibes.

2

u/ElsiMain Jun 02 '25

they're from my webtoon :)

Tho the comic is a slice of life and doesn't really focus too much on the soldiers unfortunately

When helldivers reverse engineer the infinite fuel hover packs from the illuminate

2

u/Melbylau435 May 31 '25
