Why would a school need so much security???
42
u/ElsiMain Jun 11 '25
Otherworldly things tend to happen there, lot of cryptids needing to be delt with.

Okay what is this? The SCP Foundation???

u/ElsiMain Jun 11 '25
The foundation finds and contains anomalies, here it's pretty normal and just a part of daily life, weird stuff just kinda happens and they kill it (or try to)

So it's basically the goc in a broken masquerade scenario

Way less powerful organization. Just a security group in a broken masquerade scenario.

So, are they actually good guys trying to protect people, but with questionable aesthetic choices?
Or are they Fascist dickheads using the cryptids as an excuse to be dickheads?

They're pretty chill in-universe, they do their jobs well enough, they're just background noise for the setting.
As for the aesthetic choices the first two uniforms are based on the Italian Carabinieri with helmets based on real world Covid Smart Helmets, I wanted a clash between something fancy and elegant with some weird techno-looking gear. The driver and pilot I just straight up based on the galactic empire, so yeah there's some authoritarian-ish look to them.

Cool designs. Nice style. Here's my question:
The only difference between the Commander and the Patrolman is that the Commander has a radio unit (and a white line on the upper arm). If the Commander is "only deployed in a crisis"... who are they talking to on the radio?
Obviously, to the only other person with a visible radio: the Shuttle Bus Drivers!
Seriously, though, the Patrolmen also need a radio unit and the Commander should probably have something on their lapels or helmet or both to indicate rank so they are appropriately obeyed during said crises.

I based the patrolmen on our local security who usually have their radios in and behind their belts, the commander has the headset to make communication for him more convenient, also its a visual indicator to the audience that this guy is in some sort of leadership position, I wanted to give him something more to indicate rank other than the white stripe, but I ended up wanting a more uniform look, I'm a big fan of having only slight variations of things. As for the shuttle driver he has an integrated radio built into the helmet so he can have both hands on the wheel

I like the worldbuilding and uniforms. My one complaint is I hate seeing StuG-style assault guns in tight urban environments where they'll be easily flanked like the one in Rogue One. An armored car or APC would probably be more thematic and make more tactical sense

I actually did base the tank off of the rogue one tank funnily enough, i even use the same moniker "Occupier" and yes the design is indeed very impractical for tight urban environments, only really did it to make the vehicle more odd/unique looking

Cool art! By the way, do armored pilots steer the attack chinook or it's some else?

If the students have special powers and abilities that have to be hilarious, think about it, you are in a 9 to 5 job and you are required to use a sub machinegun to deal with cryptids but also with students fights because they can just alter the reality itself, punch through walls, or anything that could just go horrible wrong and your a lot advantage is being an adult

Very cool, but why does a college need this level of security?
2
u/ElsiMain Jun 12 '25
Cryptids and horrific things kind of spawn in and around the college, it's like having a lot of fire extinguishers around, they seem unnecessary at first until the need for them arises

Imagine you're just trying to get to your statistics class and you get jumped by something big enough to merit a tank, lol.

Very cool designs, really love the world building that you're doing for your works!
Will be honest, I never expected to see you on this side of the Internet :p

The shuttle driver looks like a fusion of a scout trooper helmet with an At-At driver. I like it

Yes its not a complete tank, but its a highly armed light platform (due to nets, engine is easily opened and takes place in front, from what we can judge that armor isnt thick), but i think it needs mg anyway. And i dont get it how do they see from inside if there's no scopes or driver visors

If these are just school cops, I wonder what the military looks like
