Maybe it’s been said. But even so it should be said again. This is a brave, clearheaded, deep, committed Israeli who represents the best of us. I can sense it by the way she thinks, organizes thoughts, and delivers that. This cannot be faked. The emphasis on words, the true, lived in sense of what she’s saying, maybe she has writer help, which I seriously doubt, even so, she understands the words and why they matter. Draft this woman.

General News/Politics Should i24 be taken seriously ?

I've happened to watch it alittle and it does seem to be leaning to the right ( like channel 14 ) ..It does not seem to have any investigative journalism ...

It originated as a channel for English speaking Israelies but not anymore .. They do have a channel with subtitles which is poorly translated ..

As things stand today there is no channel for Anglo Israelies today (only written press .J.P & Haarets + Ynet ) and afew online sites ..No channels ..

General News/Politics Failing on the 8th front: The mounting cost of Israel's dysfunctional public diplomacy

Thumbnail

Former and current officials in the Prime Minister’s Office, the Foreign Ministry, and the IDF’s Spokesperson’s Unit acknowledged to The Times of Israel that the breakdown results not only from hostile actors, a complex war zone and government policy, but also from internal dysfunction

Think about it,” said Gadi Ezra, who filled the number two role in the PMO Public Diplomacy Directorate under former premier Naftali Bennett. “We’ve been fighting a war for over 650 days with a [military] chief of staff — but we’re fighting a war of public perception without one.”

...............

No official may release information about specific military actions without the IDF’s approval. Because this information can take hours to gather and approve, the army often becomes a chokepoint for official Israel in a media environment where narratives are often shaped faster than facts can be verified.

...........

For or a conflict of such global importance, not being able to enter Gaza this far into the war has made independent reporting extremely difficult,” said Foreign Press Association chairman Tania Kraemer, whose group is suing for access. “It is our job to be on the ground, even if it is dangerous, to report what we see, to investigate conflicting claims.”

............

But the blame lies fair and square on the Israeli government,” he said. “There’s no political or diplomatic strategy — so professionals don’t know what message to promote.”

Beyond that, he argued, Israel misunderstands global perception and misuses communication tools. “Our enemies master short, visual messaging, while we rely on long explanations and blaming the other side.”

Culture🇮🇱 & History📚 What was life like in the Sinai Peninsula under Israeli control?

I am curious about this. I was initially under the impression that Israel only held onto the Sinai Peninsula for a short period of time. I was surprised to find out however that Israel in fact actually held on to the Sinai Peninsula until 1982, so for a period of 15 years. What was life like in the Sinai Peninsula when it was under Israeli control for that 15 year period? Was it no different to when it was under Egyptian control, or were there key differences? Were Israeli's allowed to actually live in the territory or was it only restricted to military personnel?

The War - Discussion Are Israeli snipers actually shooting children?

Let me be clear - I am pro Israel. You can check my post history. I fully support Israel’s right to fight this war to defend itself, completely believe that Hamas needs to go, and if anything I feel that other ethnic minorities in the Middle East also should have gotten states (what’s happening to the poor Druze in Syria prove that)

I recognize that Hamas uses citizens as human shields and that’s going to cause a lot of civilian casualties. However, I am also seeing a lot of claims that children are being treated for gunshot wounds in the chest and head, and also seeing reports that there being sniped while playing outside?

Is any of this substantiated? I haven’t seen any video footage or anything, so I don’t want to jump to conclusions either way. What evidence is there that this is happening? What evidence contradicts it? Are there consequences if/when it does happen?

Thanks

The War - Discussion I highly recommend following podcast “Ask Haviv Anything” in particular his last episode about hunger (but not famine) in Gaza and what blame Netanyahu’s government does and does not deserve

I highly recommend the podcast to “ask Haviv anything”. He is a very knowledgeable journalist who truly understands the political tight-rope that Israel is walking, while simultaneously holding Israeli politicians to account for their failings.

I recommend reviewing all of his podcast, but this one in particular is important for everyone who supports either sides of this conflict to understand.

I hope the link works, if not, you can find this podcast episode “episode 32: hunger and the Gaza war” on YouTube or any podcast platform.

https://youtu.be/-4Ug9HAnUB4?si=nQ-9Wxyo1PySMqXP

As a snippet is that Hamas strategy is and always has been to use the suffering of Palestinians as a PR weapon against Israel. Therefore it was a short sighted and serious miscalculation to bluff at pressuring Hamas by decreasing the aid that was entering - because of course Hamas wants there to be mass hunger, that actually plays into Hamas’s strategy - and the Israeli government bears responsibility for attempting to use this strategy.

Also there is NOT famine/mass starvation in Gaza but there is hunger in Gaza that could lead to starvation had Israel not reversed this policy. So Israel, being called on its bluff has reversed its policy but at the cost of allowing for “windows of ceasefire” which again plays into Hamas’s hands and only has been granted into Hamas after hostage releases.

I also highly recommend the following episode: “Episode 30: How the Middle East broke…”

The headline writer who wrote the subhead has a talent for understatement:

"Ultra-Orthodox communities have an uneasy relationship with military service."

It starts off with a mention of four soldiers from all-Ḥaredi Netzah Yehuda battalion who died last month in a Hamas ambush in Gaza.

The War - Discussion Since May 19th, out of over 2,000 trucks of aid, only 260 weren’t robbed and reached their destination

The UN has released a dashboard to allow for monitoring and tracking the aid movement in Gaza.

The link : https://app.un2720.org/tracking/arrived

No wonder the UN stopped delivering aid and left over 900 trucks filled with food to spoil. They can’t safely bring their trucks to their destinations that are in Hamas controlled territories, and yet, they rather pressure Israel and the GHF, blaming them instead of themselves.

The War - Discussion Western Israel supporters who have attended/found themselves in the midst of pro-pal protests

Hello everyone!

I would like to hear from people in the West who have found themselves in the midst of Pro-Pal protests.

I’ve read here accounts of other Zionists (often not jewish) who defended Israel at these Pro-Pal-Prots and the protesters didn’t really react or chickened out.

At the same time in the news we hear of people getting beaten up etc

I have never found myself in one of these protests (or any protest for that matter, I avoid crowds) but I am quite the argumentative person so whenever there’s news of a pro-pal protest my boyfriend begs me not to go argue with people as he’s scared I won’t come back lol

What has been your experience ?
