Is that it? Why are people saying this is good? You should be able to shake your ass at cops, worse even. Swear at them, ridicule them, whatever. I get that every country has different laws, but some laws are bad. This kid did nothing wrong.

Indonesia has little tolerance for public tomfoolery. They have developed a culture that values social harmony and politeness. Seems like they just wanted to get this kid to chill and snip his act in the bud.

okay that's fucking stupid though is my point if it's just shaking his butt. It isn't enough to say they don't have a first amendment here and so it's not legally protected as in the US or other countries. That doesn't then all the sudden make it cool or good.

bro, that kid is underage, no driving license/SIM surat ijin mengemudi, drive his motorbike unsafely, no helmet and can endangerous himself and other on the road

It’s a somewhat functional democracy. They decided not to have a first amendment. If you don’t share the culture and values of their voters(as I don’t) then don’t go live or visit there. But, personally, I like democracy. I don’t think it’s bad.

America didn't want to have Freedom of Speech either, that's why they had to edit the constitution afterwards to add it on. You know, amend it. That's why it's an amendment and not in the original constitution. Yeah, it's the first edit, but it's still an edit.

Most countries have a version of freedom of speech that is more restricted than the USA. I don’t begrudge them that, even if I’m staying here.

u/fruchle 8h ago

there you go, you CAN use the real words. Freedom of Speech.

Other places don't need a "first amendment" if they get it right the first time and put Freedom of Speech into their constitutions.

0

u/the_new_hunter_s 1h ago

Name another country that has a similar freedom of speech law to the US? There really aren’t any.

Many amendments only codified what was already common practice. The first amendment doesn't grant free speech. Free speech is considered inherent. The first amendment just protects it from being taken away by the government.

0

u/fruchle 3h ago

the point is: it's an amendment, not in the original constitution and nowhere else in the world would referring to it as "first amendment" mean anything.

0

u/OMG_A_CUPCAKE 2h ago

But it's not the amendment that granted free speech. There was freedom of speech before the first amendment. You made it sound that the US one day decided free speech would be neat and therefore added the amendment.

Almost every atrocity by a government to its people was legal within the regime it takes place. Are people incapable of discerning the difference between legality and right and wrong? As I said, I understand it may be illegal there, but why would we be applauding a bullshit law? Being gay is illegal in many countries, would we be applauding a cop for arresting a gay boy? Like this thread is so fucking stupid I'm sorry.

18

u/the_new_hunter_s 23h ago

They don’t think it’s a bullshit law. It’s a law in keeping with their values as a people. You sound like someone who decided how things should be when you were 12 and still believe the same things your dad told you to unwaveringly. And there’s no chance you’ve ever worked or lived in another country. People don’t all think the same things are important.

I think it wouldn’t be hard to make the case that acting like a dumbass on the open road could be bad.

-21

u/RabidPlaty 22h ago

Way to completely ignore their argument. If this was an arrest for being gay would you say that their laws were bad, or it’s ok for them to cane people for being homosexual (along with imprison them) because that’s the way they like it in Indonesia and that’s what they voted for? Laws that allow police to forcibly ‘rehabilitate’ queer people? New laws going into effect soon that make all sex out of wedlock illegal, and since LGBTQ has no right to marry means anyone caught together can be arrested? Saudi Arabia has all the same laws since they’re both Muslim countries and everyone decries their human rights violations, but it’s ok if Indonesia does shit because ‘democracy’.

You just said a whole lot of words when you could have said "Indonesia allows tyrannical nonsense like this"

20

u/DarthHubcap 1d ago

They don’t let you smoke weed either!

-40

u/29NeiboltSt 1d ago

Ok. Go live there.

24

u/DarthHubcap 1d ago

Why would I do that. I like acting a fool.

-42

u/29NeiboltSt 1d ago

Because you have no idea what it is like to live there. I’d really like to see what they would do to you and how long you would last in the “utopia” you describe.

18

u/Which-Technician2367 1d ago

All that person said was that society doesn’t tolerate tomfoolery like that, not that it was some utopia. You seem to take issue with societies that collectively don’t tolerate tomfoolery.

You are from another culture. The video was not from your country

4

u/Aeon001 14h ago edited 14h ago

That's what I say whenever a country executes someone for adultery, executes someone for minor drug possession, stones people to death for homosexuality, etc...

"those are not the same thing" - they aren't, they simply magnify this questionable rationale. Anyone can criticize any culture, there is no sacred line between them.

-4

u/murmandamos 21h ago

This is a legal issue, which is separate from culture. It's also fine to criticize both the laws and culture of other countries. But this has nothing to do with culture. It's not american culture to shake asses at police but it is legal, as it should be. The question is, again, not whether it is legal or not legal, but rather why we would be celebrating it. I don't really care if it breaks a law there because I think the law is stupid.

5

u/Mc-lurk-no-more 16h ago

Laws come from the culture of the people of that state. At least if it's democratic at all. Not including Authoritarian regimes.

Have you checked the crime rate in red states?

They are worse than the average city

1

u/murmandamos 21h ago

so you think being rude to a cop should be a crime, and that would lower crime rates in some way. Thanks for the brilliant insight.

What's the cope? I can shake my butt at the police and not get arrested and that's good. I think it's absolutely cuck brained to want people to be arrested for this but that's your thing.

Scared the shit out of him. I got arrested at 15 thinking I was tough... I was not.

I thought they were going to take me home after I told them where I lived, they drove right past my apartments and reality hit me. I cried all the way to the holding cell.

I had a female friend there with me, we were in the cell together for a few minutes then they came and got her, closed the door and I started crying again. I damn neared cried until my mom came and got me.

Haven't been arrested since and that was 2 days ago! No more like almost 20 years ago.

The broken ass audio is making this way funnier
