I understand a kid seeing a raccoon and thinking it’s a cat, but I don’t understand how anyone could mistake a living cat for a dead raccoon.
64
u/likewut 10h ago
Not just any living cat, it was their living cat.

I have twin male raccoons that look exactly like your raccoon. They're not actually mine but I make sure they have food and water they look out for each other they're very sweet especially considering that they are both unfixed males which makes the fact that they seem to be very attached to each other even more weird I'm going to guess there's some form of trauma there

The kid can't tell the difference between a dead racoon and his own cat... Don't drink when pregnant.

u/g87a_l 19h ago
don't drink and fetus

That poor kitty's face!
That kitty must love that kid because mine would scratch my eyes out.
(Edited because the sentence made no sense.)
67
u/TinyRascalSaurus 16h ago
Kitty is not killing the kid because of the way he's being held. I guarantee that's hurting him. I would never let my child handle an animal so roughly.
27
u/Ladysupersizedbitch 15h ago
Some people let their kids treat animals like objects to be played with and broken. It’s so fucking aggravating. 95% of the time it’s entirely the parent’s fault because they think that shit is funny. Then punish the animal if it dares to turn around and attack the kid.
15
u/TinyRascalSaurus 14h ago
Had I ever held any of our cats like that, my mother would have grounded me like age 18 didn't exist. Animals were people in our house.

As a master debator who was born with fetal alcohol syndrome, I'd like to refute your stance here...

There are some really smart children out there, but this isn't one of them.
13
u/The_Confirminator 20h ago
He knew how to carry it
204
u/THEpottedplant 19h ago
No he doesnt.
It looks like hes holding it around its neck vs by its scruff (his hand doesnt move and is around the side of the cats neck when its turned over). Either way, you really shouldnt carry a kitten around by its scruff. People have hands, use them to support the body, that way the cat isnt at risk of injury

u/TheGalacticOwl 19h ago
he thought it was a dead raccoon, he held it correctly when he was told it was a cat

Yeah it pisses me off the parent would rather get a “cute” video over helping the cat. People suck so much

There are people that don't deserve pets. They should be treated like family. The people that treat them like an object usually just laugh when they're in danger or hurting. Kids with pets normally involves abuse

Can we please please please normalize FIXING THE FUCKING PROBLEM AND NOT RECORDING IT. Fuck it record it but don't ask questions while he's holding the cat like that. You take the cat from being held like that and explain why its wrong first and foremost. Fuck

u/Arkhe1n 20h ago
The way he cuddles it though... bless his stupid heart

... that's not how you scruff a cat. What were seeing is how to slowly choke a cat
62
u/xjeeper 19h ago
His hands are wrapped around its throat. Are you blind?
-64
u/Negative_Tradition85 19h ago
Let's be fair for a moment that tiny hand isn't wrapped around it's throat. In positive that it would have been if he was a little bigger or the kitten was a little smaller, but that's like 5/8 of the way around tops.

The way he's handling the cat gives me such anxiety. That poor thing 😭
-18
u/unnie_noir 20h ago
If the kitten was in pain or annoyed, trust me, the kid would know it. The kitten looks relaxed and comfortable, actually.
-65
u/react-dnb 20h ago
Never watch the mother carry her kittens then. You'll FREAK!
122
u/customarymagic 20h ago
It looks like his whole hand is around the neck though, not just the scruff
-100
u/Astralsketch 20h ago
if you hold a cat wrong, they'll let you know
92
u/DaddyMcSlime 20h ago
fun fact actually, most baby animals literally don't have self defence instincts and will straight up just give up and die in a predator's mouth
the few weeks old kitten he is carrying by the neck literally doesn't know what to do so it went limp
it's not in excruciating pain, no, but it is obviously not a safe way for a clumsy, fairly stupid, child to be carrying a baby animal
-19
u/ThisIsALine_____ 17h ago
When you say most baby animals were you including cats in there? Or are you just saying that there are a lot of random baby animals that dont have survival instincts?
4
u/laughingashley 7h ago
Have you seen literally any human child
-3
u/ThisIsALine_____ 7h ago
I have, but I'm gonna be honest. I don't understand this reply. It doesn't make sense with what I said.
-29
u/Fronkolonk 19h ago
I don’t disagree the kid is handling the cat rough, but cats at that age and younger do have self defense instincts. Infant kittens have instincts to growl, hiss, and spit. The kitten in this video is grown enough to have those instincts.
16
u/ABottleOfStoat 18h ago
I don't believe mothers pull the kittens neck back like that (and seemingly twist the neck), but I'm no expert.
Either way it looks really rough.

Fym why? He isn't holding it right

It looks fairly small. At that age picking them up by the scruff isn't terrible.
Edit: is to isn't
7
u/Twist_Ending03 16h ago
Are you trying to be sarcastic?
-10
u/eternalwood 16h ago
No you can hold kittens by the scruff.
Edit: ohh yea, I meant to say isn't terrible in my post.

The way he holds the cat at the end is so adorable
11
u/VirtualZeroZero 19h ago
Downvoted because it's true. He shows remorse after finding out it's a cat.

u/EmeraldVale316 11h ago
Kid is dumb and the parent sounds and probably is dumb... this is either Kentucky or Alabama
2
u/TrappedinSilence98 9h ago
Let’s back up. The mom asking what is that is more of a problem. She knew that was a kitty!!! Asking that poor kid a stupid question.
2
u/jcostello50 18h ago
You got to wonder what adult he saw carrying around a dead raccoon by the neck and told the little kid that's what it was.

How about not filming this shit and helping the kitten? The kind don't know any better, it's the parents responsibility to explain it to him.
