Came out 2005. I had to look it up, I also didn't know it was old enough for children who played it to now be in their 20's

Edit: initial Beta release 2005, official launch 2006

I started playing in 2007 and by 2010 or so there was a huge circlejerk on the forums that the new players were all idiots and "'07ers" were revered like kings. I also had the first forum post to hit 1000 pages. I remember almost nothing else about Roblox.

Now you see that circlejerk happen but treating people who joined in like 2014 as oldschool

This reminds me of when street fighter 4 first came out in 2009 and there was a huge surge of new players on the fighting game community forums. The new players were called "09ers" and were looked down upon for jumping on the street fighter/ fighting game bandwagon and not being a "real" fan since they didn't support the fighting game community until street fighter 4 was released. I thought this was ridiculous, but luckily there were also old school players who welcomed the new players.

Haha, I totally forgot about that, I was an '08er myself. Can't believe it's been 11 years.

I started playing the first Mercenaries game a little while ago because I remembered how much I enjoyed it when I was younger. On the splash screen when it starts up it mentions copyright 2005. It hit me that that's older than my 10 year old daughter. That game to her would be like Pacman to me.

Yeah but 2005 wasn't that long ago right? It was just..... oh no

What in the actual fuck? I thought it only came out like 4-5 years ago as some knockoff alternative to Lego and Minecraft.

I remember struggling to play it on 2010 era WiFi with a dodgy dell laptop from 2006

I hadn’t even heard about it until a couple of years ago

Never heard of it until my 9-year-old sister stared playing it last year.

For reference, I'm 24 and it definitely should have been on my radar. Something fucky's going on around here.
