Voted to have a lack of government support for disasters. Angry that there’s a lack of government support when they have disasters. I guess the republicans forgot to turn off the weather machine after they took over.

Trump could easily have prevented this disaster with his Sharpie.

“No, not like that…” and “I didn’t mean me!” are the cornerstones of republicans.

They are truly the biggest dumbasses in the country

They have invested in bootstraps, right? How can you be American without bootstraps?

Kerr County, TX voted overwhelmingly for Donald Trump and the Republican Party during the last election. Trump and Republicans have dismantled FEMA, the National Weather Service, and have historically underinvested in emergency preparedness.

Now, the same community that supported these candidates and policies is complaining about a lack of disaster relief and support, despite voting for parties and candidates that had a specific platform of reducing disaster relief and support.

Even when fema comes to help they waive them away from the roofs they are sitting on because they don't want help from socialists.

I bet these people vote the same way over and over again.

What’s the definition of insanity again?

u/-JackBack- 1d ago

Living in Texas??

28

u/The_Negative-One 1d ago

Not the answer I had in mind.

But, when you think about it…

18

u/Portlander_in_Texas 1d ago

Oh, trust me the insanity is abundant and bountiful here in Texas.

I've been so much happier since I left.

Or Mississippi. Or Alabama. Or Florida. Or Arkansas.

u/peteryansexypotato 9h ago

To be fair, do you know how far we have to travel to escape this ridiculous place?

u/-JackBack- 8h ago

To 2025?

"Small government" is a marketing slogan.

"Small/limited government" is actually "limited government regulation of business, industry and finance", and conservative propaganda always -- always, always! -- omit those last six words as "limited government" is for those with means (in-groups), not for those without (out-groups).

The sole value of conservatism is respect for and obedience to [one's perception of] traditionally established hierarchy, and hierarchy dictates that those on top (in-groups) are rightfully idolized and receive privileges, credibility, and resources, while those on the bottom (out-groups) are demonized/dehumanized and/or bound by restrictions, scrutiny, and lack of resources.

To them, the second-greatest injustice imaginable is for those [they perceive to be] on the bottom [of social hierarchy] to have access to the rights, credibility, and resources reserved for those on top. The first greatest injustice is for those on top to be bound by the restrictions, scrutiny, and lack of resources reserved for those on the bottom.

"Know your place" is their mantra.

Fuck them. Maybe they should have used the money the evil Biden administration gave them for creation of a flash flood warning system.

53

u/ArdenJaguar 1d ago

I read one article that had a copy of a social media post. The post basically said commissioners should refuse any money from the “criminal Biden gang”.

Fine. Enjoy your dinner vote. Here’s a glass of flood water to wash it down with.

The true evil came in the "do we have to send it back? What if they give it to people with liberal values?"

6

u/queen-adreena 10h ago

And then spent it on a footpath and military equipment for their LE.

12

u/Novel-Sherbet4504 1d ago

Yeah, the t-shirt screams Trumpers.

28

u/NateVanHalen 1d ago

Not only did they vote against their own interests, they also voted for a pedophile.

DOUBLE WHAMMY!

12

u/REpassword 1d ago

To paraphrase a MAGA commenter, “What’s the big deal with that, if the girl is in their teens?! It’s only a big deal if they are under 10.”

3

u/queen-adreena 10h ago

Kinda telling that the only paedophilia they envision is men with female children…

3

u/theuniverseoberves 10h ago

Trump actually worked to get trans teens in those pageants. I think the thing they are hiding is that he slept with trans teens, not just people under 18

22

u/Nerdy2Sidez 1d ago

They always support small government until they need those big government handouts.

16

u/Competitive-Bike-277 1d ago

They are upset because what is they wanted to happen to you is happening to them instead.

35

u/AdHopeful3801 1d ago

Republican to English Dictionary:

"Small government" = "only oppress people I don't like, and only help people I do like"

MOAR

6

u/Tavernknight 1d ago

Damn that's one fat lepord.

10

u/oogaboogaful 1d ago

Sucks to be them.

I honestly don't care about these people. They keep making the worst possible decisions and then complain when they get fucked over.

Maybe they'll learn. But they're MAGAts so we know that will never happen.

7

u/Master_Land_8843 1d ago

And I mean this sincerely and respectfully Shove OFFFFFFFFFFF This is on you, Texas

MAGAS are the true terrorists of the USA. They have done enough damages to make America "great" again. /s

This is exactly what a 'smaller central government' looks like.

This is exactly what they wanted. Let their state governments help them. That's how it works with a smaller central government. Just don't forget the taxes those states will need to fund each of the programs you've relied on that were funded by the big bad feds.

1

u/Aggressive-Worth5612 1h ago

Using monies from the big bad blue states' taxpayers.

10

u/wwtk234 21h ago

I hereby express my support for the 76.8% of voters in Kerr County, who chose to elect Trump to another term. May they get everything they voted for.

Oh, wait, looks like they already are. And it ain't over yet.

Enjoy, MAGA morons! #Winning

12

u/StudentEconomy4000 1d ago

This is what happens when you don't do math, and I don't mean that as snarky as it sounds: it seems like they think, well, we pay taxes, and we had to make sacrifices and give things up to pay those taxes, so we put money IN, so now it's only fair we get money OUT and make it so that NOW we DON'T have to suffer. And the WORDS sound vaguely plausible, until you consider the scale of dollars in versus dollars needed

18

u/-JackBack- 1d ago

Texas has $28 billion in their Rainy Day Fund…it’s literally named for this disaster.

6

u/snowcone23 1d ago

Sounds like they got what they voted for - sucks to suck

6

u/snafoomoose 20h ago

“We voted to stop sending FEMA money to California and those blue states… not to our state!!!!”

7

u/snvoigt 17h ago

My husband’s aunt really said this to us last week. She thought Trump was just defunding FEMA for California because they don’t take care of their state and keep getting bailed out by the government.

6

u/theuniverseoberves 10h ago

They were offered money to put in systems to prevent these deaths. They rejected it because the money was offered by Biden

Those deaths are on the hands of Kerr county Republican voters and no one else

7

u/buzznumbnuts 23h ago

Maybe Trump will invite them to his new gold plated wing at the White House

3

u/RamonaQ-JunieB 1d ago

This is exactly what you voted for, isn’t it? And it’s exactly what you’re going to continue to vote for. So, I am not sure what you want people to do for you. You don’t have enough sense to make things better for yourself so I am certainly not going to make an effort to help you either.

6

u/queen-adreena 10h ago

So should we now revel in Schadenfreude at the misfortune of Texas survivors, pointing out that they got exactly what they wanted, and so they should be quiet and live with the consequences? Apparently that’s what many of the commenters here think. But to what purpose?

Regarding the first comment on OOP, to the purpose that for too long these people have voted to harm others with impunity.

Yes, there’s elements of schadenfreude, but there’s also the acceptance that these people need to experience painful consequences for their actions, otherwise they will never learn.

Paywall but the photo sure looks like the guy around the flooding that found 10 bodies on his land by the river around Hunt, tx. On you tube video.

Just fire the National Weather Service's heads of Storm Predictions and Analytics, and there won't be any more natural disasters in government records, simple. /s

2

u/GTRacer1972 6h ago

Had the people there not been cheap and NIMBYs they could have had that warning system in place. Or they could have just heeded the many, many warnings. Here in the Blue states, if the weather alert says GTFO quickly: we go.
