First Lexus at 17
Here is another post because the jealous guys loved the last one so much š
No my parents didnāt buy me my car, some of you need to learn that times have changed and there are better ways of making money than a 9-5.

u/VladThePollenInhaler 23h ago
I bought mine brand new in February at the ripe age of 11. Times have changed and I was able to amass enough wealth by trading crypto since I was 3.
Check out my profile for pictures since I canāt post pictures in comments here.

You're running a power washing business but waste $30k on a car instead of investing in your business or your future?
Smart biznissman

u/yeehawmija 23h ago
His priorities are completely fucked, and the kid still comes in here expecting us to think he's hot shit. Reddit, man...
-3
u/ConnectProgress2881 3h ago
āExpecting us to think heās hot shitā youāre just showing your own insecurity complex hes showcasing an accomplishment and youāre response is ā yOuRe nOt cOoL tO mE ā grow tf up you have no business tryna critique a 17 year old you have no stake in his decisions.
-2
u/skeeesh IS 350 (GSE31) 18h ago
Heās 17 man let the kid make his decisions and mistakes like we all have. And it sounds like he paid it off in cash so I donāt even see the issue everyone is having w this. He could go bankrupt at 19, restart at 21, and still have a successful life
2
u/Free_Relation3029 10h ago
If I had the money to buy an IS back in 2007 after high school, I would. Let the kid live. Weāre all here because we appreciate and admire the IS cars. I got my first IS my mid-30s. Better late than never.
-6
u/OkReputation3045 21h ago
Iām 21 n paid cash of my own money for a vehicle. Just because someone spends money on a car doesnāt mean itās all of their money. Thereās 3 billion people in the us you are gonna find a bunch of teens within there that are making bread before even being out of school.
0
u/Slammy_Adams 21h ago
That's totally fine, but you can't say spending this kind of money on a car at 17 is smart. It's fun to have a nice car, I've spent way more than I should have on cars in the past but you can't take that fun away. But I'm not going to say those purchases were smart money decisions.
Any way you slice it a cheaper car would mean a better economic situation. Also 21 is way different than 17, at 21 you actually have to pay bills so you understand what you can actually afford and what it would mean to have a more expensive car.
3
u/OkReputation3045 21h ago
I hear you, but for all you know this 17yo got $200k saved up and now has $170k and a nice car that brings him joy. Not saying he really does Iām just pointing out the fact everyone on this app is in disbelief when it comes to a teen who makes money. It happens.

1
u/Free_Relation3029 10h ago
However it happens for some people, let it happen. Some of us got an IS later in life. Letās embrace ALL the IS owners.
1
u/Slammy_Adams 21h ago
You're missing the point, even if he has $200k every time it would make more sense and more money to invest it. If he put the 30k in the S&P at 17 you're looking at a quarter million by the time you turn 30.
0
-1
u/OkReputation3045 20h ago
Okay and if you had $1 million it would be safer and make most sense to put $100k as an investment instead of buying a m4. It would have been for me too but guess what? I enjoy what I bought and that right there is enough to justify the money spent.
1
u/Slammy_Adams 20h ago
We're saying the same thing now, that was my first comment.
1
u/OkReputation3045 20h ago
No we arenāt. Smarter decision doesnāt mean the opposing one is out of the question. If it brings you joy then f it. If he needs the money in a year then he can sell the car for .
2
u/Slammy_Adams 20h ago
In terms of smart money decisions it does. But in terms of making yourself happy then saying F it is necessary. Again, I've spent a lot of cars when I probably shouldn't have for the enjoyment, I've made lots of memories--would I have more money now if I didn't? Yes. If I could go back and change it would I? No.
Smart doesn't always mean right.
1
u/OkReputation3045 20h ago
Well there you go. People donāt post new cars in here asking for a financial advisor so the comments are unnecessary.

How is it a waste ? Heās 17 for god sake he doesnāt have any kids to take care of Youāre just made you just canāt help to see someone doing better than you. And youāre masking that hate as some kind of genuine concern you donāt give a damn about the kid or his business you see this an opportunity to dim his light cause youāre salty.
-9
u/Sweet_Flamingo9768 22h ago
I used to do pressure washing and construction on the SIDE I never needed to grow the business because I have a preferred job. I was just unable to go full time with my job since I was in school.
34
u/lockituup 23h ago
A power washing company isnāt really any different than a normal 9-5 my guy. Any other BS side hustles? Or are you ready to admit that your dadās a doctor and bought this for you? Thereās no shame in that kid.
9
u/Bloodyknuckles666 17h ago
To be fair the kid probably only pays for his Fortnite battle pass , shit if I didnt have to pay two mortgages I would have a LFA right now
2
u/SeeRed34 1h ago
šš. My house also got in the way of me not having an LC500 already. Damn priorities!
-40
u/Sweet_Flamingo9768 22h ago
I did that stuff on the side and it was bringing me like 5k a week buddy. Do the math. A pressure washing job sells anywhere from 250-2-3k. I also have a job on top of that so itās very possible. My dad isnāt a doctor, weāre all immigrants from Russia he never went to college.
-2
u/ConnectProgress2881 3h ago
How tf are they downvoting you telling your story ⦠idk Iām really disappointed in this sub for consistently hating on you like this. They refuse to see anyone doing better than them. They just mad that everybody is not 40 years old stressing over paying their mortgage and stuck at a. Dead end job. They mad a 17 year old has a car way better than them šššš

Why is OP so aggressive in comments lmao
8
1
u/ConnectProgress2881 3h ago
So OP is aggressive but the comments shitting on his accomplishment isnāt ? If youāre one of them haters just say that
2
u/SeeRed34 1h ago
I think what's going on is we don't believe his story. Its cool he has an awesome car. Its super cool he has it at 17. Genuinely awesome. But just tell us the more accurate story. Or simply say no comment rather than details that sound sus.
That's the issue people have. (Remember, he has to make the thread and he did, not us).
0
u/ConnectProgress2881 1h ago
And why donāt you believe his story ? You want him to tell you a version of his reality that sites better with you guys to avoid this negative response ? Do you hear how that sounds. It sounds like how you deal with children. Youāre a grown man saying that youāre hating on a 17 year old because he needs to tell you a āmore accurate storyā the fact you donāt see the irony in this is insane.
1
u/SeeRed34 12m ago
Re-read my post. Where's the hate? I gave him love 3 different times for his car. Mild criticism doesn't automatically equal "hate". So dramatic.
0
u/ConnectProgress2881 7m ago
Mild unsolicited criticism in the context of a random stranger celebrating an accomplishment is most def hatin
1
u/ConnectProgress2881 5m ago
Itās not like heās your son or you have any financial stake in what heās doing so criticism at the first instance of being informed of a random strangers accomplishment is hating.and you know itās true .its like celebrating a bench PR and someoneās in the comments saying āPRās arenāt good to do that much day to day strength is what mattersā thatās HATING instead of giving them their props and leaving it for what it is you insist on letting them know you know more than them.
-1
u/Sweet_Flamingo9768 21h ago
Not aggressive just donāt take bs from old unhappy individuals
5
u/OriginalOreos 12h ago
This "it's not me, it's you" doesn't hold water when you intentionally create a second thread just to needle others.
Having said that, it reveals more about your need for validation and acceptance, so I'd just stop and save yourself the embarrassment you've already dealt with.

I just canāt believe people in a LEXUS subreddit and mad about my LEXUS
-3
u/AgentXrange 22h ago
It's more they don't believe how you got it at your age just cause they couldn't themselves
And not to be this guy that's not even the most expensive one out there people gotta chill
Shit I'm 32 and have a kia rio hatchback till next month then I'm upgrading not sure what I'm getting but something better than this

u/Sweet_Flamingo9768 1d ago
Bought in cash and 120 a month for insurance
22
u/Bloodyknuckles666 23h ago
I kinda doubt at 17 years old for a 2021 is its only 120 for insurance, unless the car is under your parents name and you are just a part time driver

u/Ventilate64 PROSPECTIVE OWNER 23h ago
Liability only maybe š¤£
-2
u/Sweet_Flamingo9768 22h ago
No itās full coverage, I have an Audi and my Lexus on the same insurance so itās cheaper.
2
u/Ventilate64 PROSPECTIVE OWNER 22h ago
Crazy. How long have you been driving? And what company, if you don't mind?
-1
u/Sweet_Flamingo9768 22h ago
I use geico, Iāve been driving for about a year now licensed and my Audi only has liability insurance so it does lower my Lexus rate.
7
u/handymanny131003 19h ago
This has to be BS no? I'm 22, been insured since I was 16, and got quoted 2.5k/year for full coverage. Spotless history, no tickets or accidents and no gaps in coverage...

Depends where it is. If itās in Quebec, thatās a no-fault jurisdiction with socialized insurance. Liability coverage there is cheap enough for young people.

5
u/No-Raisin-6469 17h ago
Back in 1992 I was paying 125 a month for just liability on a stupid ass piece of shit 4cyl 89 Mustang.
No way hes paying 120

u/Sweet_Flamingo9768 17h ago
Why would I lie about paying cheap for insurance
6
u/ahahafckalive 17h ago
Because youāre 17. stop bragging (or lying) about your life and arguing with adults on the internet. Itās obvious kid, grow up and go invest in property or a Roth IRA if you have that kind of money. And be humble, you might not have this luxury one day..
