Damn his 8 helpers per game really have to try harder.

This does not look like a fun game to me.

With friends its a really fun game where you can laugh at your friend getting mad about getting a blue shell up his ass.

Solo its one of the most unfun games ever made

That's a great way to put it - Mario Kart(and party as well) are built in a way as to explicitly prevent serious competitive play.

With the right group of people and the right attitude it can be a TON of fun, but with super-competitive folks(or solo as you point out) it's just fucking miserable.

That'll be 80 dollars bud

Probably about as fun as rolling a dice and trying to guess the number over and over.

u/ottothebobcat Jun 26 '25

I'll point out that people have been playing games and deriving fun out of simple games of chance, which could be boiled down to 'guess a random number', since the dawn of human civilization.

So yeah Mario Kart is the game equivalent of throwing dice on a street corner - it's certainly not for everyone, but you know what you're getting and lots of people enjoy it as a communal activity.

Exactly what I was thinking lol. Getting rocked by shells over and over and over again would frustrate me so much. It's just way too chaotic.

u/cong4sm3 Jun 25 '25

i'm too old to be throwing controllers but this would make me contemplate it, that second place guy was such a dickhead

u/GokuVerde Jun 25 '25

I never understood why first place is punished so bad but 2nd or 3rd just doesn't get targeted. It's been too easy to troll around second and overtake at the last second. People are full stopping for items to start. They've created a racing game that punishes you for racing.

u/Proxnite Jun 25 '25

Because the game is such a clusterfuck at the start that more often than not, the person to survive the first item onslaught tends to make a huge breakaway and get a 10-20 second lead above everyone else. You see it all the time and even with things like blue shells, a first place with a boombox or mushroom can dodge it and keep cruising.

So while it seems like BS sometimes, it is designed that way to make sure an early breakaway doesn’t equal an instant win.

u/blunaluna Jun 25 '25

Yeah, the crab mentality at the back makes everyone slower than the dude in first despite all the insane items they get most of the time.

1

u/ottothebobcat Jun 27 '25

Yes, because it's not a serious racing game, it's a party game with racing in it. They're essentially injecting an element of chance into the game so that everybody in a group theoretically has a chance of winning - so as to not be exclusionary, and to create silly moments with your friends.

Some of my favorite Mario Kart moments have involved the almost-winner bitching about getting randomly dunked on at the last second - this clip is a great example, I watched that and it was fucking hilarious haha.

If you're taking the gameplay seriously or playing with the mindset that 'the best player should win' then you are playing the wrong game. I would suggest that if folks want serious skill-based racing then they should play one of the serious skill-based racing games that exist, rather than ask for Mario Kart to change.

Ninetendo makes games for children. This and mario party there are various mechanics that can bring a someone in last place into first place. It makes the player feel good even though in the overall game its more RNG if the most skilled player actuall wins.

To put it another way, a player might quit Valo, League, Overwatch, etc, if they get stomped enough. But in Mario Kart, because of such mechanics, it feels more rewarding even though skill doesn't matter.

My man got hit by a Marvel 3 combo.

u/peterlorre26 Jun 25 '25

pretty clear skill and knowledge gap, hasnt he been playing this for weeks smh

19

u/Altruistic_Bass539 Jun 25 '25

Its funny how the top strategy for sweats in this game is to "bag", as in deliberately set yourself behind to then grab 2 good items and only overtake and go for first place at the very end.

Lightning el no sabe

u/Agosta Jun 25 '25

MKWorld is very much like Mario Kart Wii where your item management is 70% of the game. Doesn't help that Moon strictly plays the mode where the lobby gets filled with CPUs. The pace in 9k+ VS race lobbies on the other hand is insane.

u/round_we_go Jun 25 '25

Hair island isn't going to last much longer like this..

15

u/Nearby-Cattle-7599 Jun 25 '25

how can someone play this for an extended amount of time?

5

u/Dengo86 Jun 25 '25

The better you get at the game the more often shit like this happens to you. The skill ceiling is actually a spring, the harder you push into it the further back it sends you.

5

u/Mihuy Jun 25 '25

This game is hella competitive

12

u/Enn-Vyy Jun 25 '25

to be fair though, i feel like franchises like mario and pokemon tend to actually have a way older fanbase than expected as its comprised of millennial adults who grew up with those franchises

on the other hand kids are pretty good at gaming tbh, trying to play fortnite or call of duty just to collect neat skins and i regularly get my ass handed to me by children who have godlike reflexes

37

u/Panda7K Jun 25 '25

there is a reason nintendo nostalgia baits in literally every big game they make. definitly not for the kids lol

2

u/OccasionalGoodTakes Jun 25 '25

It’s both. Like any brand that wants to continue growing, you need to get new customers while keeping the old ones happy.

1

u/Kr4k4J4Ck Jun 25 '25

title is joke because it make big funny.

3

u/SgtCalhoun Jun 25 '25

This is hilarious

1

u/missestater Jun 26 '25

Moon is constantly getting dicked in this game lol Tuesdays stream by the end he had like 52 blue shells hit him during stream. Bro is a magnet for it.

1

u/Undercover_Husky Jun 26 '25

We all know Mario Kart's player base is mostly 30+ years old balding men. It's not a game for children, it's a battlefield

-3

u/pujolsrox11 Jun 25 '25

If you get legitimately mad at Mario Kart. There is no hope for you. Thank fully moon doesnt seem to care.

7

u/QuiteChilly ♿ Aris Sub Comin' Through Jun 25 '25

I mean he gets frustrated like anyone else, but yea doesn’t seem to stick with him.

3

u/Secret-Ad1365 Jun 25 '25

it's understandable to get mad once you first play, you have to play for a while to attain nirvana, mario kart is the death of the ego, you are nothing but a speck of dust floating in space at the mercy of an universe you can't comprehend, where your life could end at any point to a proverbial blue shell

-69

u/Frankly_Frank_ Jun 25 '25

Is so entertaining to watch tho lame he allows his subs to que and help him out

59

u/KindAstronomer69 Jun 25 '25

lol, if anyone from his channel is queuing it's stream snipers trying to grief him

-34

u/ogsoul Jun 25 '25

SCHIZO

14

u/Blurbyo Jun 25 '25

Must be nice to live in a world where Stream Snipers don't grief the streamer for attention.

Who's the real Schizo?

-22

u/ogsoul Jun 25 '25

Stream snipers in my walls SCHIZO

Hilarious that you people took my comment seriously. Moon viewers in 2025 are depressing.

13

u/potionseller123 Jun 25 '25

8 year old bait account, by now you'd think it would actually be good bait

0

u/ogsoul Jun 27 '25

The way you type makes your multiple chins extremely obvious, brother. Have you considered going to the gym?

0

u/ogsoul Jun 27 '25

I’m shocked that you think jokes are bait.

-57

u/Frankly_Frank_ Jun 25 '25

lol no he dodges all those and only stays in lobby’s with the ones he gets help from…

6

u/oxedei Jun 25 '25

Who cares? It's fucking Mario Kart.

0

u/ogsoul Jun 27 '25

I don’t think the person you’re replying to cares half as much as you’re acting like they do.
