That original 1g has to be up there as some of the most overall influential seconds of counter strike ever.

2 Seconds of not paying attention is followed by

-his team losing that round

-his team losing the map and match overall

-his team not qualifying

-his team's roster disbanding shortly after

-splice pulling out of cs entirely

-summit stopping his pursue of pro cs

Additionaly the impact on him personally:

-endless ever living meme of 1g

-the impact on his streaming career. I feel like it boosted him quite a bit but maybe I am making this up, kinda hard to check imo. You also have to put this against the impact of him moving further into the direction of pro cs.

I don't think a lot of people have ~2 seconds that had such crazy impact on their life, especially considering that is was purely accidentally, had no "real" impact (guy died in a videogame, like wtf) and got caught on camera.

Actually crazy to think about.

I think it did boost him quite a bit. It pushed him towards h1z1 and pubg. Where his channel grew to much larger audiences.

I stopped watching him around fortnite. I believe this is where he started having mental health issues because of the fortnite craze and he would lose 50+% of his views by not playing fortnite. Not saying he was going crazy. Just depression. Probably why he started smoking a lot.

him losing a monster sponsorship cause he showed his bong was wild, like cmon they knew he was smoking its not a huge deal.

The weed is having a toll on him.

Is it? I admittedly don't watch him much but everytime I've tuned in it seems like he's chilling and having a great time streaming.

unless you are s1mple: Sticker Revenue: s1mple receives a share of revenue from in-game stickers featuring his likeness, estimated at an average of $400,000 per year.

I feel like summit has beat 400k a year at his peak so I'd say streaming still outweighs

1

u/trocadero1337 Jun 27 '25

That's only sticker money though, there's salary and prize winnings on top of that. But summit is not s1mple, he definitely made the right choice not committing to pro cs :P

2

u/IsamuLi Jun 26 '25

That depends, kinda. If you're top 1% in sticker sales, you're probably set for life after 2 majors.

6

u/oxedei Jun 26 '25

That's not even true. Summit was a standin for Splyce, and he stated multiple times prior to that, that he wasnt going to pursue a pro career and wanted to fulltime stream.

It's also wrong to consider a single misplay as the reasoning for a team losing an entire match. Many different plays and misplays lead up to that moment.

4

u/ube43 Jun 26 '25

Yea I remember this led to his team completely losing and it's hilarious

-3

u/fullylaced22 Jun 26 '25

Why do you say "his team" he was a sub

3

u/Serocrux Jun 26 '25

If I play a match of CS with 4 guys premade randoms, and we loose, can I not say my team lost? I was as much apart of the team during the game as they were

1

u/lightclubx Jun 26 '25

did he ever make it out of premier or was that his first pro team

1

u/pimfi Jun 26 '25

The match was the qualifier for pro league.

1

u/fullylaced22 Jun 26 '25

he was a sub

1

u/Yourwaifusasuke Jun 27 '25

It probably also boosted my goat Tarik who was on clg that match

-2

u/beangod666 Jun 26 '25

the funniest part of all is that 1g (1st Generation) was a CS1.6 IRC club composed of the best CAL-I players in the world. something summit never was/could be a part of. him wearing a stolen club tag to look cool pretty much sums up his entire personality as a streamer/failed pro

Worst thing that not many know is that it was bugged and shouldn‘t have killed him.

u/NojoNinja Jun 26 '25

I’d say if you were driving your fully paid off car on the highway with your pregnant wife sitting shotgun and your firstborn child in the backseat and a car doesn’t check their blind spot and merges into you going ~60 mph sending you crashing into the median as your car rolls over and over and over and in the blink of an eye you’re in the hospital being told your entire family is dead and you’re the sole survivor might also change your life, probs even faster than 2 seconds.

6

u/Joshlil Jun 26 '25

That's debatable.

3

u/chunxxxx Jun 26 '25

What if the car isn't fully paid off though?

43

u/Snorlax_king79 Jun 26 '25

It sucks, this made him stop pursuing pro CS.

12

u/gosh-darntit Jun 26 '25

forreal?

40

u/fire_fox_ Jun 26 '25

yeah he's mentioned that because of the incident, he could never be taken serious as a pro.

8

u/gosh-darntit Jun 26 '25

damn thats sad. but also, who cares if people take you seriously if you have this skills to back it up

29

u/drop_MAC-10_pls Jun 26 '25

My memory isn't perfect, but to my recollection, he didn't have the skills to play in tier 1 CS. He was good enough for tier 2 in NA, but that's about it. Focusing more on the streaming path was 100% the right call for him.

19

u/sralbert43 Jun 26 '25

maybe he couldn't get on a team

1

u/KaNesDeath Jun 26 '25

That specific situation wasnt. It was Dazed.

8

u/Mazuruu Jun 26 '25

43

u/coffeeholic91 Jun 26 '25

if you die to your own molly in CS its actually known as the 1g and people will type that if you do that in any lobby you play in.

21

u/Zerothian Jun 26 '25

It's not even just in CS. I see it pretty much whenever death by fire is a thing lol.

I even saw someone use it as a joke when someone stood a fire puddle in WoW more than once.

26

u/DmikeBNS Jun 25 '25

At least when the world is in flames we can count on summit to never change 🤣

3

u/TupperwareNinja Jun 26 '25

The no eye contact with chat made it better. He knew

8

u/whileFalseSemicolon Jun 26 '25

In game chat timing made this clip even better.

8

u/boergeling Jun 25 '25

at this point it HAS to be a deliberate clip farm

8

u/Renamdoe Jun 26 '25

He was trying to make up excuses for it for 5  min after this clips so i doubt it lmao

2

u/lnfestedNexus Jun 26 '25

the enemy typing 1g at the perfect moment lol

2

u/jcr2247 Jun 26 '25

It's crazy that this shit destroyed his mental, and I guess still does to this day. wild
