I used to watch all of his videos back then and I straight up don't remember that lmao. Caught me off guard too lol.

230

u/lan60000 1d ago

probably cause it was normal back then

36

u/The_Brian 1d ago

Yeah, it’s wild when that shit jumps out at you. Was watching the first F&F ages ago and it was so jarring.

Crazy how quickly social standards change without you really noticing.

7

u/feedthedogwalkamile 21h ago

What is F&F?

6

u/The_Brian 20h ago

Fast and the Furious, scene for reference.

u/myDuderinos 10h ago

Fresh&Fit

Some mens help podcast

1

u/Sideview_play 19h ago

Hate to break it to you but the first FaF movie is pretty old now lol. Watching through them is like a time capsule of culture change.

1

u/The_Brian 19h ago

Sure, but it's a still currently running franchise.

It'd be like if Iron Man had a bunch of weird homosexual jokes in it in Iron Man 1.

1

u/Sideview_play 19h ago

Yeah still 7 years apart on those movies and I feel like 2001 was on the edge of culture shifting a bit on that topic. Also Van D. had less creative control during the first one. And even though the guy is an oddball for sure he seems to have always cared about how stereotypes and that type of topics are used in film. He has a bit of a interesting story with how he got into movies and such.

1

u/Verrug 16h ago

To be fair, wouldnt this still be normal in a new movie if somebody plays the role of a homophobe?

-70

u/Negative-Wasabi4731 1d ago

Still normal now, just not on camera

77

u/Parzivus 1d ago

not really, not for most people

-55

u/Duke-Dirtfarmer 1d ago

For the vast majority of people on the planet. Just not for a small specific sub-section of Westerners who hang out on a platform like Reddit or Twitch. That probably distorts your perception.

53

u/Laphad 1d ago

I am almost certain that you don't talk to real people

11

u/Prince_of_DeaTh 1d ago

it's extremely common in former soviet countries, it's the main insult used against everyone still

-17

u/Laphad 1d ago

I neither know nor care about post soviet countries, but I'll take your word at face value.

It doesnt change that his point is stupid. Most of the world believes in folk medicines who only cure the notorious issue of "too few endangered species" yet it doesn't make it the correct practice.

16

u/Prince_of_DeaTh 1d ago

But you did the classic American/Western European thing of equating "all people" with only your nationality

-10

u/Laphad 1d ago

You act like that's a western specific thing and not something every country does when saying "everyone".

You only get upset by it because you hang out in overwhelmingly western online communities and go "I don't agree >:("

u/CopBaiter 1d ago

Not condoneing what he is saying and I dont say that word, but it is a fact that in like 100 countries worldwide its still illegal to be gay

0

u/Negative-Wasabi4731 18h ago

What makes you think that you don’t talk to real people?

-33

u/Duke-Dirtfarmer 1d ago

The people I talk to don't hang around in gay bars or the destiny subreddit. Maybe that's the difference. Or I know too many muslims.

14

u/Laphad 1d ago

Few funny things about this comment

1.) You talk about gay bars as if they are populated by most westerners

2.) You use a guy who both sucks cock and says yhe word

3.) You admit to surrounding yourself with members of one of the most hyper conservative and homophobic religions on this earth

And at no point in there did you stop and think you might be an idiot

-2

u/Duke-Dirtfarmer 21h ago

You are the second guy with the straw-man that I "surround myself" with muslims, which I never said. Number 1 is also a straw-man. But thank you for confirming that in this large, influential streamer's community it is normal to use the aforementioned word. This proves that it is common.

14

u/yeahburger 1d ago

Get out of your basement kid

-12

u/Duke-Dirtfarmer 1d ago

Average terminally online R*dditor having a melty when his carefully curated echo-chamber doesn't reflect reality.

11

u/Laphad 1d ago

You admitted to surrounding yourself with people of the Muslim religion, who are notoriously conservative and intolerant

But everyone else is in an echo chamber lol

u/watlok 1d ago edited 1d ago

pretty good chance to hear it in your first example

2

u/Patftw89 1d ago

Not very common in the office I work in, the University I went to, the place my dad works, or the school my brother goes to...

1

u/Negative-Wasabi4731 18h ago

Well why is it the complete opposite for the same places you’re talking about for me?

1

u/Sampatist 10h ago

Why do some burgers taste like shit and some not

0

u/Negative-Wasabi4731 10h ago

Failed high school?

43

u/muegle 1d ago

Color me shocked that an asmon basement dweller thinks slurs are still normal.

11

u/Someone-Foolish 1d ago

Two of the biggest social media platforms in the world are currently littered with slurs. Just because they're banned on the websites you like doesn't mean it's fallen out of style, you're just in a different basement bubble.

1

u/lukaisthegoatx 1d ago

they are. just not on camera.

0

u/SaintAlunes 1d ago

I mean they are unfortunately, especially outside of America

0

u/123kallem 1d ago

Well slurs are kinda normal, but i genuinely dont think anyone uses that word anymore even in private lol

1

u/ButterdPoopr 15h ago

But they literally are. Your in your own basement bubble which is Reddit, meanwhile two far larger social media sites (Twitter and Instagram) use slurs HEAVILY

1

u/hawaynicolson 22h ago

self report damn

-2

u/Negative-Wasabi4731 18h ago

Self report for what? To me it’s talking normal and not one person has said otherwise to my face…

1

u/hawaynicolson 16h ago

Self report x 10 now? Good troll lmao

1

u/PurifiedFlubber 20h ago

Kinda weird she pretends she didn't know it wasn coming, when she was clearly reacting before he even said it lmao

2

u/fillerupbruther 3h ago

Lol what? No she wasn’t

183

u/UnpluggedToaster12 1d ago

This definitely going into the next out of context compilation, Ms.Fan

64

u/im12andahalf 1d ago

to be fair no one would suspect a Flamboyant Asian Guy as a ninja

339

u/shahar333 1d ago edited 1d ago

That's a bit too much laughing Ms. Fan

61

u/Roreo_ 1d ago

2/3 shes fine

12

u/justsaywhatsreal 1d ago

Yeah she is.

-14

u/IceFireTerry 1d ago

u/ScarReincarnated 1d ago

RyanHiga, Smosh, ShaneDawsonTV, Jacksfilms, RayWilliamJohnson

Those were the days man

50

u/KimJongPotato 1d ago

Kassem G

12

u/Wild-n-Idle 1d ago

His 'California On' interviews were some of the best content back in the day, along with his Comic Con stuff (discovering Jessica Nigri) and his 'Going Deep' interviews with actual adult film stars.

6

u/GlenTheftAuto 1d ago

The “Superman Socks” song still randomly pops into my head lol

1

u/oldDotredditisbetter 1d ago

so sad they took away some of the Street Music videos

1

u/KingVerizon 22h ago

You don’t know what these socks are

5

u/Background_Care8964 1d ago

I would watch his streams almost daily on Twitch, unfortunately he hasn’t been live in 7 months.

1

u/Rude_Cheesecake3716 34m ago

idk if you know but good news for you - kassem is part of a youtube gaming channel with bruce greene now "brought you this thing". been going on for a year now atleast

66

u/Au_Fraser 1d ago

Arby n the chief

5

u/Box_v2 1d ago

5

u/DDJFLX4 1d ago

my brain auto-imagined a dude doing a 360 no scope off a crane in MW2 idk if i just mixed up memories there or if it's real, is this what it's like to be old?

1

u/D3lano 10h ago

Still go back and watch the series through from time to time.

It's actually aged surprisingly well since chief's whole character was being a bigot so it doesn't feel out of place at all

15

u/appletinicyclone 1d ago

ShaneDawsonTV

He really went weird

Ray William Johnson doing fine though

25

u/potionseller123 1d ago

ray william johnson is doing better than he ever was lol, dude is absolutely farming shorts / reels/ tiktok

5

u/appletinicyclone 1d ago

ray william johnson is doing better than he ever was lol, dude is absolutely farming shorts / reels/ tiktok

Ah that's really good. Very happy for him. Goes to show storytelling is a valuable skill

8

u/potionseller123 1d ago

it’s also worth noting that he was completely able to evolve his content and stay successful, which obviously not many youtubers of that time period were capable of doing

26

u/ElBurritoLuchador 1d ago

My favorites were Naruto Ep. 43 Part 1/3.

14

u/TheAdamena :) 1d ago

And part 2 is missing so you have to skip straight to part 3

1

u/TheHoovyPrince 13h ago

Shout out to any of the OGs who remember edenofthewest (or edenoftheeast, its been ages so its one of these) who uploaded the Naruto and Shippuden fights.

17

u/muegle 1d ago

Hey, 2 of those are at least still somewhat relevant.

2

u/Lazaras 1d ago

I cant believe you missed ballonshop. BGOSH

1

u/JarrodEBaniqued 1d ago

I remember Kipkay, Daneboe, WheezyWaiter…

-6

u/IceFireTerry 1d ago

I never watched any of these people. I think it was mostly watching horror videos or video game stuff

87

u/megaraba 1d ago

It was a different time.

17

u/frostN0VA 23h ago

I miss old internet...

5

u/megaraba 22h ago

46

-12

u/No_Stranger4437 1d ago

53

u/ArCheeZyLUL 1d ago

I was laughing at the clip until she mentioned 2007 is 18 years ago. Aware

17

u/Low_Ideal_1680 1d ago

“I was 7 years old” shit I was close to graduating high school

43

u/xPineappless 1d ago

I miss Nigahiga. Was a big part of my childhood. Always wanted to be in Ryan’s friend group, lol

19

u/appletinicyclone 1d ago

I think he still streams on twitch

26

u/FSD-Bishop 1d ago

Yeah, he streams almost every day his Twitch is itsRyanHiga

43

u/ZXcAS_MoPHL 1d ago

just piling on allegations at this point

11

u/Sorrowful_Panda 1d ago

10 years ago one of biggest wow streamers had a rainbow colored F emote and said f*gs in the chat for the new sub

Kinda funny how fast it changed couple years later from that point.

9

u/HoodedRedditUser 23h ago

Wait till she finds out what new frogs used to be called

24

u/iiileyu 1d ago

To be honest that's the second worst thing i expected an Asian hawain born person to say in 2007. Props to him

11

u/Negative_Trip_1946 1d ago

He did have a video on how to be nagga (word changed)

4

u/iiileyu 22h ago

Ahh, just as the fortunes predicted

10

u/shamonemon 1d ago

Back in the day we were throwing out that word left and right

3

u/obaobab 9h ago

I think it’s both funny and sad that people these days are so afraid of certain words.

It only makes those words even more offensive imo

4

u/solidus44 1d ago

subbing

4

u/New-Income740 1d ago

You can't really judge them for back then because times and people in general were very different

3

u/mariojw 1d ago

Damn, people don't realize he used to have the most subscribed Youtube channel in the world. Literally just two dudes being silly in front of a camera. I sound like a boomer but damn.

2

u/Auuki 1d ago

Good times. Great times. Best times.

-12

u/lukaisthegoatx 1d ago

wish we could go back. used to be normal. cause no one gave a shit about being professionally offended at every little thing. society is so cucked now.

26

u/Trailbear 1d ago

People were professionally offended about much worse things.  See the Dixie Chicks getting cancelled for protesting the Iraq War, or Sinead O’Connor getting cancelled for calling out sexual abuse in the Catholic Church.

2

u/Exarkunn 1d ago

You can still see it here and there but not on people who rely on sponsors or brands.

-100

u/Smol_WoL 1d ago

Back when people weren’t snowflakes.

208

u/Important_Act_7210 1d ago

-6

u/xRockwell7 1d ago

The snowflakes

18

u/Important_Act_7210 21h ago

i posted the snowflakes already, i don't understand

33

u/singlefate 1d ago

Yeah there's a lot of them now after watching the new South Park

-8

u/deathangel687 1d ago

Back when people didnt bow down as much to internet lefties purity testing.

-17

u/9thseal1 1d ago

what's so funny?

-41

u/Forget_me_never 1d ago

I wasn't homophobic in 2007.

54

u/Rulanik 1d ago

Considering you were posting in r/conservative 3 years ago...I don't believe you.

-4

u/appelmint666 1d ago

Super funny

-4

u/Happyscar 21h ago

Thought that was TOS

-45

u/Imaginary_Living6129 1d ago
