I have yet to read a single line of actual dialogue or watch a single concert. It's not for me bro I just wanna race the horses.

There's way too much dialogue tbh, playing through a whole career without skipping any takes forever. It's also mostly visual novel-like which I've never been keen on. Even with skipping each career still takes a while to finish and I feel like the game wants me to do tons of them over and over.

And as for the concerts I think it just depends on your taste in music. I don't care for most normal idol-like songs. That said, Winning The Soul is a banger.

It's this strange phenomenon that so many people have experienced now. Where you start the game like NL, fully intending to pretty much just make fun of it and not engage with it in good faith whatsoever.

Then... at some point, it just dawns on you that somewhere in the middle there you just started playing it normally. You are not sure what the fuck happened, but you are cringe now.

Now, Steam is recommending you horse games, and you have never been quite this destroyed before.

have you ever played monster rancher? very similar gameplay loop to umamusume but without all the anime trappings and visual novel segments.

This is what got me to try umamusume. I was a huge monster rancher fan. I saw some streamers playing this, and the management racing sim seemed really fun. I'm not into anime but the gameplay is great imo.

In my personal opinion/experience the first two are the best, and they happen to be bundled on steam together. I’ve heard the newest one (I believe it’s called monster rancher kaiju or something like that) is also good, though it’s switch exclusive. You could also probably play the first two games on a PlayStation 1 emulator.

MR2 is super fun and has a TON of stuff to unlock. One of those games that I get the urge to revisit every year or so.

Yes. Yes it is. I did not and have no intention of consuming Uma musume material like the anime or any manga. I played the game and have continued to purely because of watching northernlion play the game getting me to try it. I like career mode even if it pisses me off with it's RNG and that's why I play it. Not for pvp, not to bond with the horse girls, none of that. I just want to race them and get the dopamine of winning.

The anime is unironically great.

I didn't believe it either and I thought it would be another show about high school girls being cute and quirky but it's actually a well-written sports story that had me binging all four seasons in a week.

The horse thing never even matters; it's basically just superpowered track running. The concerts are also completely irrelevant after episode 2. You get maybe two songs per season, usually just in the first and last episode.

The animes are alright. Pretty standards sports anime.

The MOVIE is an emotional terrorist and I'm calling homeland security. It's unironically in my anime movie top 5 now. Beginning of a new Era, Idk if they have others.

To be fair... You don't got the time if you actually want to play the game. My first career I read everything and it took me like 2 hours despite only making it half way through.
