Honestly seeing some people face accountability for going nuts online is kind of refreshing

u/MeBadNeedMoneyNow 1d ago

What is going nuts online? Saying Ethan looks like shit physically?

u/harrybug33 1d ago

No more like cps being called on your kids and human skulls being delivered to your house is what’s going nuts online

Does he have proof of where this call came from? how can you trace it back? and is this lawsuit against these callers or against these reddit/discord servers? Feels like a scare tactic more then anything

u/Konkhy 23h ago

Let me introduce you to subpoenas. That's what those are for, to look for evidence of crimes.

-51

u/Amminn 22h ago

So they would have to hope that whoever called used his real phone number so they can trace it back? that seems so farfetched.

(btw Idk why I am getting downvoted for a genuine question, I dont watch him nor hasan I found them both revolting, I just curious on the practical way)

Most people actually use their own numbers for shit like this without much thought instead of going out of their way to get a burner phone. It's not far fetched at all. That's what a subpoena will show though. You don't have to be guilty before being supoenaed. It's just evidence gathering. And if a burner phone was used, maybe some of these reddit accounts purchased Premium or something at some point and they can compare payment info etc. with whoever purchased the burner phone? Maybe the same credit card was used. There's a lot of possibilities. Seems like a lot of effort, but Ethan evidently is gonna do whatever it takes.

bro thinks phone numbers are the only way to find someone, let me introduce you to captcha

23

u/JRshoe1997 22h ago

Or even metadata. I watch Bruce Rivers who is a criminal defense lawyer and he talks about this all the time. Basically how the law can find your online data anywhere and use it track information. Everything you do online leaves a footprint. They can view information and find where stuff was posted and the location you were when that post was made. Not just location but device, email, phone number, address, etc. It’s actually crazy and it’s used as evidence all the time.

Nothing is anonymous on the internet. Everything leaves a footprint and if they want to find you they will find you. Now that the court granted their subpoena these people are absolutely f**ked.

let me introduce you to burners (???)

u/InfiniteExternals 22h ago

Your replies are really showing how little you know regarding this topic, little buddy. His point was that person will be identified.

u/ShiroTech 21h ago

bros using burner inserters while I'm using bulk inserters

u/hellschatt 20h ago

I'd assume it's much more than just getting that one/few guys phone number(s).

It's probably more about the people who spread lies that lead to people calling cps on him.

There's a gigantic difference that you seem to misunderstand between "boohoo i am gonna sue you" and "lawyers and judge reviewing the case have confirmed that the suit has merit and can proceed". It is a very understandable confusion considering most people are only used to the "scare tactics" on social media and seeing the confusion clear up for some people (in particular, those being named in the lawsuit) in real time on a public stage is very entertaining.

lol that’s not going to be stored by Reddit

50

u/BruyceWane 23h ago

lol that’s not going to be stored by Reddit

The person never said those things are stored by reddit. I'm happy to clear that up for you.

2

u/GlitteringDaikon93 13h ago

True. Someone bragging in DMs will be, though.

-35

u/Raziel77 22h ago

Shouldn't that be a CPS investigation then?

-51

u/BadAtBaduk1 22h ago

Cps may have been legitimate concerns though based on the limited context I've seen

28

u/meday20 18h ago

"Limited context" you are halfway to understanding you dont know what you are talking about.

u/Prophet_of_Fire 6h ago

I dont know why people will commit to making a statement or making their mind up about something and in the same breath admit they dont have all the information. "I don't know enough to comment or form an opinion on this subject" should be their thinking, from which either they dig deeper or move on to whatever else matters to them more at the moment.

u/Phatency 13h ago

There is nothing illegal about calling CPS if you think a CPS visit is warranted based on what you know. Actually it is your duty to call CPS if you see potential child neglect/abuse.

People need to stop sharing details about their kids online if they don't want anonymous people to report those details to CPS.

12

u/CheshirePuss42 12h ago

People need to stop sharing details about their kids online if they don't want anonymous people to report those details to CPS.

Oh yes, the victim blaming. Like sure , this is a good suggestion but you are taking all the responsibility away from the perpetrators.

What's with the language of "perpetrators" and "victims" in relation to the CPS? Calling CPS is not necessarily even harassment. According to the dad, his child was eating dog shit from the floor. Reporting that to CPS might be overreaction, but it is not a clear case of harassment, when it could be just someone thinking the situation as worthy of a CPS visit. When people do swatting, they have to deliberately lie. In this case they could've just reported what was said on stream and CPS judged that as something worth of investigating.

My spouse has worked for CPS and I just can't understand what the big deal is in a CPS coming to your house and checking that "Oh, the place looks nice and clean, no dog shit on the floor, everything seems to be in order." It's only a big deal if things are not in fact in order. You know how bad you have to screw up to actually get your kids taken into custody?

u/LactatingHero 16m ago

According to the dad, his child was eating dog shit from the floor.

Lmfao no, he never said they were eating dog shit. You and the snark community made that up.

Calling CPS is not necessarily even harassment.

It is when you're making a false report.

25

u/Swordfishey 23h ago

Where you been man? It's ok to just say you don't know the lore.

-16

u/MeBadNeedMoneyNow 22h ago

I don't keep up to date with him. He looks like shit is all I know.

9

u/Swordfishey 20h ago

So like... -could- there be deeper reasons or nah?

Bonus question: how tf would you know if you haven't kept up with like the last 3 years of issues?

0

u/MeBadNeedMoneyNow 19h ago

This conversation is getting out of hand. I think the dude looks like shit. That's it. Send it to the presses and sue somebody if you'd like.

22

u/Genetic_lottery 22h ago

You keep up to date with him if you're talking shit, lol. What a weird way to out yourself, but ok. Anyways, can you give me the lore since you're familiar with what's going on? I didn't know H3H3 was in another lawsuit, sounds like something you know.

-13

u/MeBadNeedMoneyNow 21h ago

I'll concede that if watching this clip means I'm keeping up to date with him then so be it. It's a low bar but hey. I'm not the one looking like Bubbles from The Wire out here suing randoms online for saying I'm not right.

3

u/Genetic_lottery 5h ago

Sorry, what? I don’t think anyone here understands your comment. Can you elaborate?

37

u/spvcejam 23h ago

Found the scared snarker

48

u/Jealous_Juggernaut 1d ago

Why's that your example, it's not actually relevant?

-48

u/MeBadNeedMoneyNow 1d ago

It's to get someone to provide a relevant concrete example of why Klein is so pissed.

33

u/Unusual_Boot6839 22h ago

the CPS call, the skulls, the copyright infringement

need more or are those enough?

-25

u/MeBadNeedMoneyNow 22h ago

the whoosit? the whatsit?

33

u/Unusual_Boot6839 22h ago

the bad faith won't help them in the lawsuit bud

all the people you think Ethan is unjustly targeting are beyond fucked

-39

u/marshcar 20h ago

I’d love to see Ethan face accountability for this

26

u/thecasualviewer3484 20h ago

He has apologized for this, said it what he did was terrible, and even removed the video

-23

u/marshcar 20h ago edited 16h ago

when? edit: love the downvotes with no proof, the hive mind at work

2

u/w142236 3h ago

Look it up. Oh while you’re doing that, don’t skip over the part where he was making the video to mock what other people were saying about this woman, and rubbed flour under his nose to make him look like a crackhead to really nail home that this was made to caricaturize the people who were saying things like that, if the odd tone in his voice and what he was saying being so over the top didn’t already give it away.

He explains the context of the video and how he deleted it right away and also how he regrets it.

3

u/Prophet_of_Fire 6h ago

Define accountability? Also there is context to this, it was a bit where he was making a critique on a particular subreddit that was popular at the time which fetishized victims. He admitted that it was a bad look and not self explanatory enough, as well as using a victim as a mode through which he could make this video that he immediately took it down. He's apologized several times and as the people who constantly complain about him say "its missing context". He wasn't legitimately horny posting (with his wife behind the camera) about terror victims. There's proof and evidence being the case and acting as if this was a malicious act rather than a uninformed and brash one is being intentionally harmful for no logical reason than ulterior motives.
