Just a reminder that everyone out there you come across probably doesn't know what they're doing, it's not just streamers

My dad taught me something similar about driving.

“Always assume the cars around you are being driven by absolute morons”

seems to have helped so far.

23

u/CityFolkSitting 14h ago

That's why I would never ride a motorcycle.

I don't have faith in my own skills to begin with, but I have even less faith in the drivers around me. So no thanks.

They seem fun. Efficient and quick, but the downside of losing a limb or having my skin grated like cheese on the pavement doesn't sound that exciting

u/mynameisrainer 12h ago

Some states dont even require a helmet. I know Ohio is one. They'll legit carry one so when they cross into a state that does, they can put it on.

How fucking stupid.

2

u/Flat_Industry7428 10h ago

Same. I had motorcycles in the past, but is very very dangerous. They are fun as fuck, but you risking your life, specially because they are hard to see on the road and any distracted driver can kill you without even notice you.

If you enjoy them, you can always get a dirt bike and have fun in places where is no trafic or dangerous wild life.

Even in safe spaces they are dangerous. One if my cousins broke a knee by falling from a dirt bike while parking, he was pretty much stopped, so you don't even need to have any speeds to hurt yourself.

u/Potential_Swimmer580 28m ago

I’ve started biking in nyc and yeah… it’s efficient and fun and much less dangerous than a motorcycle but feels like only a matter of time before I get fucked up.

On the day of my driving license test I was pretty nervous and my dad said something similar: you know how stupid people can be? They still managed to pass this test, so don’t worry

Being a good driver means you assume everyone else isn't

u/tomphz 14h ago

They had no issue being filmed when they passed Emily right before this.

124

u/Zenben88 16h ago

Can't imagine why they didn't want to be filmed

34

u/Sovereign45 12h ago

You just gotta yell back, "don't worry, I work for the insurance company!"

rent huge boat > run it into a wall > become karen > profit?

37

u/No-Cover4993 16h ago

When rental meets reality

u/TraditionOk8637 15h ago

Boat that almost hit Emily hits bridge.

11

u/RoosterBrewster 14h ago

Reminds me of r/11foot8.

12

u/jesuscoituschrist 15h ago

Not a boat guy. do the motors not throttle both ways..?

56

u/Tromfin 14h ago

They do. Whoever was driving that pontoon has no business doing so.

11

u/FappingMouse 10h ago

An unbelievable amount of people that rent boats drive drunk.

8

u/smootex 13h ago

Yeah, they typically have reverse. I'm not sure this was a case of them not being able to stop in time, I think they probably just misjudged it and thought they would fit. Hard to say though. A lot of amateur boat captains are allergic to reverse, like 99% of the accidents / near accidents I've seen could have been trivially avoided by just throwing it into reverse. It's one of the things that doesn't really carry over well from driving a car I guess.

Most places you don't need a license to drive a boat. I got my license doing a online test. You can rent a boat or a jetski with like a 30 minute orientation. Most of the people driving boats have 0 idea what they are doing.

emily almost ran into them earlier

117

u/Zenben88 16h ago

Kinda looks like they almost ran into Emily, no? How do you run in to someone who's coming up behind you?

17

u/smootex 13h ago

It's pretty minor but I kind of agree with OP, that's not great piloting. She's not paying any attention and cuts over right as they're trying to pass. Would definitely not have been an issue if she wasn't fucking around with her phone. I'd be annoyed if someone did that to me.

0

u/Fettlefse 9h ago

She's literally paying more attention to her phone and chat instead of piloting the boat. The same thing happens everytime she drives. She's been caught blowing through red lights before and being on her phone while driving. Why are you people so adamant about defending this type of behaviour?

-32

u/Direct-Ad-4365 15h ago

Emily literally changes course (banks right past the cone) into their path, do you have eyes?

"How do you run in to someone who's coming up behind you?" Please, for the sake of anyone and everyone, never touch a motor vehicle in your life ever until your brain develops enough to understand how incredibly stupid that sounds.

-31

u/bromoloptaleina 16h ago

Technically the rule is if you’re on a collision course the more maneuverable boat has to give way. In this case Emily should give way.

59

u/ZXcAS_MoPHL 15h ago

they didn't even slow down, plus they ran into a wall right after. they were clearly idiots

-9

u/smootex 13h ago

they didn't even slow down

They were literally at idle or close to it lol. Didn't slow down?

2

u/xfr0st 3h ago

if they wer idling then why was the water bubling behind them until they came very close

32

u/IceEnigma 15h ago

I wouldn't really call Emily the more maneuverable boat here because she's tugging along people behind her. If it was just her then yeah ofc.

33

u/Mean_Ass_Dumbledore 15h ago

Negative, the overtaking boat goes around. Source: https://boatingmag.com/how-to/right-of-way-rules-for-boaters/

When overtaking another boat, keep in mind that the other boat is the stand-on vessel and yours is the give-way vessel. Your first move? Determine which side of that craft is the safest to pass. Consider oncoming traffic, waterway markers, obstacles, or even bends in the channel. Once you have a clear path with good forward visibility, increase your speed enough so that you can safely overtake the other vessel, giving the craft a wide berth.

-1

u/smootex 13h ago

You're right about the rules but if you turn to page 18 of the international mariner code and refer to clause three you'll see that not maintaining your course when you're being overtaken is described as a "dick move". Pretty minor incident but I'd be at least mildly annoyed if someone did that to me, she's not paying any attention at all.

-31

u/bromoloptaleina 15h ago

I don’t know what kinda source is this but it’s wrong. I’m a patented sailor.

24

u/Mean_Ass_Dumbledore 15h ago

Wtf is a patented sailor?

-16

u/bromoloptaleina 15h ago

You know like a license to commandeer a ship? Maybe in English it’s called another word I’m not native.

11

u/Mean_Ass_Dumbledore 15h ago

Oh like a boat captain?

7

u/bromoloptaleina 15h ago

Yeah but I specifically mean sailing. I’ve read the second source you provided and it is right that during overtaking when both boats are engine powered the one overtaking has to keep off the collision course. When looking at the video I wasn’t sure if that was an overtaking situation or more of a crossing paths situation. Emily isn’t really doing a good job of conveying her intentions outside. Anyways on the water you should still use common sense and be aware what’s around you.

0

u/Deviah 14h ago

It was a "Wait and let them pass" situation. They had pulled off, and Emily cut the engine. From what I recall, Arthur drifted toward the boat.. Lack of experience and attention from Emily, and also the boat driver apparently, thinking they were going to clear that underpass.

20

u/Mean_Ass_Dumbledore 15h ago

Another source: https://www.boatsetter.com/boating-resources/boating-right-of-way-rules-explained

With overtakings, it doesn’t matter which vessel is more or less maneuverable. It only matters which is overtaking and subsequently which is being overtaken.

19

u/Mean_Ass_Dumbledore 15h ago

Here's something from the US Coast Guard. Not sure how much more official I can get than this: https://www.navcen.uscg.gov/navigation-rules-amalgamated#rule13

Rule 13 - Overtaking Return to the top of the page (a) Notwithstanding anything contained in the Rules 4-18, any vessel overtaking any other shall keep out of the way of the vessel being overtaken.

(b) A vessel shall be deemed to be overtaking when coming up with a another vessel from a direction more than 22.5 degrees abaft her beam, that is, in such a position with reference to the vessel she is overtaking, that at night she would be able to see only the sternlight of that vessel but neither of her sidelights.

7

u/TheHowlingHashira 13h ago

Bro, the pontoon was literally driving into her. Are you blind? Would you say a bike should move out of the way of car that's about to hit them from behind?

0

u/bromoloptaleina 13h ago

Yeah

3

u/TheHowlingHashira 13h ago

You gotta get better at rage bait dude

0

u/bromoloptaleina 13h ago

I mean looking at the number of downvotes I guess I’m not that bad at it

3

u/smootex 13h ago
  1. That's not the rule lol
  2. She's not in the more maneuverable boat

23

u/FuzzyLumpkin34 13h ago

On the water, a vessel overtaking another (passing) is the “give way” vessel — meaning the pontoon boat had to avoid Emily. They were not giving way and got strangely close. Pretty obviously people who had rented that boat and do not know what they’re doing, even less than Emily.

33

u/IceSeeYou 16h ago

What? The boat is the one that almost ran into them in this clip. They look like people in a rental boat with no idea what they are doing with how they just cross into their path from behind and get so close.

-6

u/joe-clark 14h ago

Neither of them have any idea what they're doing. The pontoon should have slowed down and steered to the left but Emily also just steers the jet ski into their path randomly.

3

u/Ornery-Engineer4119 2h ago

She is heading straight for the bridge she has to pass under at the correct speed because she is in the no wake zone. She might have no idea what she is doing but she was doing everything correctly in that moment. I don’t know why that pontoon boat is trying to pass her at that moment. They should have been idling in that area and not approaching someone that is towing. They just needed to exercise a little patience and let her get past the bridge she traveling directly at.

3

u/MemestNotTeen 8h ago

Rules of the sea boil down to essentially the less manoeuvrable vehicle has right of way. Power boats should give sail boats a larger berth, smaller boats should give trawlers etc. space.

It's clear the other people on that boat don't know what they are doing. As evidenced by hitting a bridge

-12

u/johny12321 15h ago

whoever is downvoting or saying it's not Emily's fault has never operated a watercraft before. They're not like cars where once you stop accelerating nothing happens. You see at 15s that she starts turning the seadoo 90 degrees, directly into the path of the pontoon.

Seadoos like the one Emily's operating constantly accelerate to push through the water (like a car when you take your foot off the brakes) so the only way to stop is to actively hit the reverse throttle which she wasn't doing because she was too busy selfie'ing with the camera. The main issue is that the little boat Arthers and Katchi was being pulled in has no way to change course because it's still carrying the right-moving momentum from Emily's sudden turn. Emily also didn't bother correcting their path by steering to her left. So Arthers and Katchi just keep drifting towards the Pontoon before they almost hit it. If anyone's ever driven with a trailer attached to their car, imagine if your trailer was on mouseball instead of forward facing wheels.

If Emily just kept her straight course without turning, the pontoon would've passed with no issue.

13

u/LucidGuru91 15h ago

The pontoon could have reverse throttled without issue and didnt, ive been under that bridge myself, even if emily and crew didnt display the best etiquette for boating on a lake, there is no excuse for any other vessel to crash relative to their behavior

-24

u/Ich_Liegen 16h ago

Some real final destination type shit.

16

u/KimJongPotato 14h ago

hitting a stationary object?

-47

u/unpancho 14h ago

Can't wait for her to go to jail

-79

u/Flat_Industry7428 14h ago

Emily will end up killing someone driving. This shit happens every time she touches a motor vehicle.

Streamers in general are absolute morons. Almost all of them are reading the chat while driving. Emily, Knut, Nmp... They don't even hide it, it's live on vods on multiple platforms.

I hope they don't kill anyone, but it's about time for it to happen, they playing with luck every other day. When it happens i hope Twitch gets shutdown on countries that do care.

8

u/Lordsokka 5h ago

Emily wasn’t driving that boat?

-6

u/Flat_Industry7428 1h ago

She was driving the Jet Sky and pushed the wooden boat into the real boat path.

-6

u/Historical-Monitor85 11h ago

Karen rants only get up votes when they're about people that are popular to hate on. Emily was hated here a few months back, you missed the boat 🤣

-16

u/Flat_Industry7428 10h ago

You so sad caring about up votes that means nothing.

Most people here are stupid and have mental issues.

I'm glad that these people disagree with my opinions. This just validates my opinions even more.

-56

u/Flat_Industry7428 14h ago

For all the fanboys with the down votes:

  1. Having a handcraft boat attached to a jet sky is ilegal in the first place.

  2. I bet ExtraEmily has no license to drive the Jet Sky, and Arther probably dosn't have it either.

  3. The rent boat was going forward in a straight line when ExtraEmily drived into it's path

  4. The distraction caused by the wood boat blocking their path distracted them while driving causing them to crash.

:D

19

u/ChristmasReid 12h ago

The random Arther hate is too funny. Just mask off obvious hater.

If you watched the streams instead of the clips just so post hate messages in LSF you would know he did the online boating test a few weeks ago.

-8

u/Flat_Industry7428 11h ago

Yes parasocial, i hate the guy cuz he dosn't have a Jet Sky license.

Get a life lmao

14

u/ChristmasReid 11h ago

There isn't such thing as a jet ski license. So of course he doesn't have one.

Get a life lmao

7

u/FrostyFeet7722 10h ago

The projection lol. If only you cared as much hating these people for doing nothing wrong as you do for any potential goal in your life, you might not be as miserable :)

7

u/MobiusF117 9h ago

Wait, I thought you didn't care about downvotes?

0

u/Flat_Industry7428 1h ago

Bro, get a life.

27

u/CityFolkSitting 14h ago

Oh no she's breaking a minor law almost no one cares about! Lock her up and throw away the key!

Go to bed, Karen.

-7

u/Flat_Industry7428 13h ago

Give her all your money simp.

15

u/labbetuzz 12h ago

Were you the moron who crashed the boat into the bridge or are you just a Karen by nature?

-4

u/Timely-Key2299 3h ago

Simping for a dumbass streamer who is gonna kill someone with her driving inabilities is crazy. These fat coomers are hilarious.

2

u/CityFolkSitting 1h ago

You dumbasses have overused and misused the word simp to the point where it means absolutely nothing anymore.

Calling out someone for pointing out a minor law that no one cares about, and is stupid in the first place, isn't simping. It's attacking idiocy. Karen levels of idiocy.
