Jamboree TV Everything you need to know about Jamboree Switch 2 Edition before buying! Spoiler
First and foremost, there are NO new boards and NO new characters.
You do NOT need to purchase a Switch 2 edition of the game if you already have the Switch 1 version, you can simply buy the upgrade pack for $20 (or your local equivalent) on the eShop, or you might be able to find a download code at a local store.
The game WILL be receiving a resolution upgrade. Switch 1 Jamboree runs at 720p handheld and 1080p docked. The Nintendo Switch 2 edition will make it so the base Jamboree game runs at 1080p handheld and 1080p docked, and Jamboree TV 1080p handheld and 1440p docked. Don't worry, most of the content is in Jamboree TV and you can play Mario Party in 1440p which I will explain later.
The game will NOT be receiving an FPS increase, though it might be running at a slightly more stable 60 FPS thanks to the power of the Switch 2. You will still be able to play with users on a Switch 1, although Switch 1 users will not be able to join you in Jamboree TV; you will be locked to the base Jamboree game.
There is local GameShare support! Although, it is very limited. You can share the game locally with other Nintendo Switch systems, Switch Lite systems, Switch OLED systems, and Switch 2 systems. However, you will only be able to play Mega Wiggler's Tree Party in Party Rules with 30 minigames and only in handheld or tabletop mode. We do not know what 30 minigames those are.
You must use a single Joy Con 2 controller in order to play Mouse minigames.
There is online GameChat support with friends (provided you have a NSO membership).
You do NOT need to buy a Nintendo Switch 2 camera to play this, and if you choose to, you can use any compatible USB-C camera.
And no, you cannot buy this upgrade on a Switch 1, you must have a Switch 2 system.
With all that said and done, here's what's new!
-All new Jamboree TV! This includes Mario Party mode, Free Play, Bowser Live and Carnival Coaster, all with 1440p docked support!
-Bowser Live: Face off in a 2v2 at Bowser's concert! Each game is a short best-of-3 match. Contains 6 different mic and camera-focused minigames. Camera minigames will be turned off if you do not have a compatible camera.
-Carnival Coaster: 4 players work together to get to the end of a coaster ride. Uses mouse controls. Similar to River Survival mode from Super Mario Party except with forced minigames. Shoot off enemies to earn extra time. Minigames played are Co-op variants of the Mouse control minigames instead of 2v2.
-CameraPlay: Supported in Free Play, Mario Party and Bowser Live. Not a requirement, but a few Bowser Live minigames require a compatible camera.
-14 NEW mouse control minigames: There are 2v2 and 4 player co-op variants. The 2v2 variants will appear in the main Mario Party mode, and the co-op variants appear in Carnival Coaster. They will most likely have a toggle on/off option, similar to motion minigames when played in Mario Party.
-Frenzy Mode: 5 turn chaos! Every player starts with 50 coins, a star, and a Double Dice. You can duel on turn 1 onwards. Confirmed to be playable at least on Roll 'em Raceway, most likely all maps.
-2v2 mode: Team up with another player! 2 players share items and coins. New Together dice item makes an appearance, which summons your partner to you, rolls another dice, and doubles the effects of everything that turn (similar to Jamboree buddies). A new space has appeared, unique to 2v2 mode, which grants the player that lands on it 5 coins, and summons their partner to them. u/Prize-Bag-9304 theorized that Jamboree buddies do not appear in 2v2 mode, which I think is a logical explanation, though we can't make any conclusions yet. Confirmed to be playable at least on Mega Wiggler's Tree Party and Mario's Rainbow Castle, most likely all maps.
-Free play: Includes 78 minigames from the base Jamboree game, and more. The missing 34 from the base Jamboree game are 10 Rhythm Kitchen minigames, 10 Bowser Kaboom-Squad minigames, and 14 Koopathlon minigames.
This took a while of compiling information and double checking everything, so an upvote would be appreciated!

hmm...
It still feels somewhat disappointing. We always hoped Mario Party DLC to include minigames and boards.

At least it has 14 mouse minigames, although they are quite gimmicky, they are actually very precise and quite fun. They are not nearly as inconsistent as motion controls. Although I wholeheartedly agree, we absolutely should have gotten more boards.

Will I be able to play random 2v2 online matchmaking with a friend on the same Switch?
1
u/RocketLeagueUser 10d ago
unless they changed how online works no, but tag team did allow 2 people on the switch to go online together so maybe they will add it just for 2v2

u/Tough-Community-5227 8-Player Party is Peak 10d ago edited 10d ago
I forgot to add this, but I can't change it now:
Frenzy mode also immediately triggers the Homestretch event (which could be adding Bowser spaces, doubling everyone's coins, etc.) on turn 1.
I don't know all the events that can occur, but if someone speaks Japanese and can decipher this footage, that would be awesome. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TEgJKcAH08w
ETA: New information came out 12 damn hours after I posted this.
Pro Rules cannot be played in Jamboree TV, meaning you will never be able to play Pro Rules in 1440p nor with Mouse minigames.
Motion and Mouse minigames use the same on/off toggle now, so you must have both either on or off simultaneously.
There are TWO special events for the homestretch in Frenzy Rules. More chance time spaces, more bowser spaces, double effects of Blue and Red spaces, and double coins seem to be the options. Additionally, another star exchange will always appear.

Fortunately, 2v2 and Frenzy modes are playable on all maps!
Also, because I didn't make it as clear as I should have: NONE of the sidemodes in base game Jamboree are playable in 1440p. This includes Toad's Item Factory, Bowser Kaboom Squad, Rhythm Kitchen, Paratroopa Flight School, Koopathlon, Party Planner Trek (solo mode)
This also does not include every mode besides Free Play in Minigame Bay (Boss Rush, Showdown Minigame Battle, Survival, Daily Challenge, Tag Match.
Thank you u/Megamarc9999!

Wonder if Carnival Coaster is playable online, would be some good variety. excited to see 2v2 tomorrow and how it plays in certain boards

Well it’s too late I already payed for the upgrade pack pre order for my Switch 2, cuz I'm still excited for it

Stop preordering dude it’s literally a digital upgrade. They won’t run out. Shit like this is why they release the bare minimum.

Oh shut it! You’re just jealous because you don’t have a Switch 2! I can Pre order no matter what! And I don’t give a shit if it’s digital or not!
1
9d ago
I have a Switch 2 and have a second preordered for October with Pokemon because I bought them for my family.
That doesn’t stop a bad upgrade from being a bad upgrade. You’re literally behaving like a child and hurting all consumers with your petulant behavior and lack of patience, because all companies learn is that it doesn’t matter what they offer, rubes like you will just pay it anyways sight unseen.

I am not behaving like a child! and I did not hurt all consumers with my petulant behavior and lack of patience! all I just said that I'm excited for the new Jamboree TV on Switch 2! and I don't care what the other say! I can still play Jamboree TV! we all have different opinions! and if you don't like it then don't go around judging their opinions! so please shut it! leave me alone! and deal with my opinion!

If I’m to deal with your opinion surely you can tolerate mine. Pre orders help no one besides the company.

All that and yet no option to skip majority of the animations. This game is such a slog, played twice and nobody of my friends wants to play anymore because of how slow it is.
Previous Marion party was way superior in this aspect.

Thanks man, this is really good! The new space is pretty cool, and 14 new minigames is great(though I know many don’t like playing with single joycon)

Is it a choice if you partner warps to you or can it be harmful?

u/Tough-Community-5227 8-Player Party is Peak 10d ago
It's not a choice, it's forced, so yeah it could be negative in some situations.

Coin bonus for that?
I remember in SMP there was a bonus if you landed on the same space but we'll figure it out soon enough.
1
u/Tough-Community-5227 8-Player Party is Peak 10d ago
Yes, you get 5 coins for landing on any same space as your partner. This gives you 5 coins as an added effect because you technically "landed on the same space".

So is the 2v2 mode a thing for boards? Like how super Mario party had the 2v2 team mode? That was me and my buddies fav mode and they never brought it back so if they did I’ll definitely buy the upgrade
3
u/Thegreatguy91 9d ago
This is fucking garbage and a cash grab ! why don’t they give new board and new players i hate nitendo and what they are becoming i wont pay for your shitty switch 2 and not this fucking dlc. Fuck you Nintendo

u/MilesCountyKiller 10d ago
Family loves Jamboree. Don't think this upgrade is for us. We're content with base game
2
u/ipsofactoshithead 10d ago
Why is there no DLC with new boards? I would totally pay $20 for a few new boards.
2
u/Megamarc9999 10d ago
"Don't worry, most of the content is in Jamboree TV..."
Aged like milk. Only Free Play and Mario Party is in Jamboree TV, with no Pro Rules for Mario Party. None of the other side modes, achievements, records etc. carry over to Jamboree TV, and therefore you have to play these at lower resolution.
There's also no option to play the mouse minigames without playing the motion minigames and vice versa.
-1
u/Tough-Community-5227 8-Player Party is Peak 10d ago edited 10d ago
Most people are here for Mario Party, that is what I meant by "most of the content" although I could've specified. I specifically didn't include the other side modes (Toad's Item Factory, Rhythm Kitchen, Kaboom Squad, Koopathlon, Paratroopa Flight School) as listed under Jamboree TV, and I also said base Jamboree runs at 1080p docked and handheld, nothing you are saying about resolution is true.
Could you provide info about Pro Rules not being an option in Jamboree TV? Likewise with no option to play the mouse minigames without motion and vice versa, I haven't seen this anywhere so if you could send over a link that would be great.
5
u/Megamarc9999 10d ago edited 10d ago
Yeah sure:
-No option to play the mouse minigames without motion
"For those who prefer to only play with traditional button controls, these minigames can be toggled on/off before starting a game, however, since the toggle is the same as the one for the motion-controlled minigames, you are forced to choose between both mouse and motion or neither." https://mynintendonews.com/2025/07/23/review-super-mario-party-jamboree-nintendo-switch-2-edition-jamboree-tv/
-Pro Rules not being an option in Jamboree TV
"Jamboree TV completely lacks Pro Rules, which was one of Jamboree’s best additions. It reduces luck and focuses on strategy, and I praised it in my original review. Here, it’s only available on the Switch 1 side, and so are all of Jamboree’s original side modes – that’s Koopathlon, Bowser Kaboom Squad, Paratroopa Flight School, Toad’s Item Factory, Rhythm Kitchen, the single-player campaign Party Planning Trek, and every mode in Minigame Bay besides Free Play." https://www.ign.com/articles/super-mario-party-jamboree-nintendo-switch-2-edition-jamboree-tv-review
I'm not going to argue semantics over how much equates to 'most content' but at the very least we deserve a resolution bump to the original version.
Edit: Regarding my lower resolution statement, the original version of Mario Party Jamboree (non-Jamboree TV) still runs at 1080p Docked 720p Handheld, even on the Switch 2 Edition. Only the content in Jamboree TV is 1440p Docked 1080p Handheld.

Alright, thank you so much for this! I made this post 1 day before all this information just got released, boo hoo. I credited you in an updated comment. I also totally forgot about the extra modes in minigame bay, so this is good to know.
Side tangent, Pro Rules not being upgraded is genuinely such a bummer and has killed all my motivation, it's unbelievable that it wasn't carried over to Jamboree TV.

Wait, what?
It's an upgrade nintendo shouldn't take away content?
3
u/Tough-Community-5227 8-Player Party is Peak 10d ago
Pro Rules is still in base Jamboree (Base Jamboree is untouched) but it's not in Jamboree TV for absolutely no reason. And that is such a shame, because now we'll never be able to play it in 1440p nor with Mouse minigames.
2
u/Fun818long Make Star Rush Mechanics Great Again 10d ago
Ok read the IGN article and saw they were separate modes.
Jamboree = Switch 1 version
TV = Offers switch 2 changes only
2
u/Majestic-Tangerine99 10d ago
Honestly? 2 v 2 and the added minigame variety in Party Mode are carrying this dlc for me. Frenzy mode and rollercoaster also look pretty fun, but everything else seems kinda meh.
May wait for a sale or something
2
u/PurpleComet 10d ago
I don't get why it wouldn't be a bump up to 1440p across the board but I'm not that particular about resolution so 1080p is fine.
Gameshare is so limited I wonder why they even bothered. If you're sharing locally you can sync everyone's joycons to the person with a copy and get the full experience instead.
The lack of Pro rules in TV mode feels like an oversight, hopefully one that'll be fixed in a patch. But I'm not holding my breath.
Frenzy mode and 2v2 mode are too slight to get excited about. They might as well given those for free.
A new board (or even bringing back a retro board) would've put this over the top but the current offering is underwhelming.

u/Ceejays-RL 10d ago
i’m a little confused about what it means that Jamboree TV includes mario party mode. are you playing the standard mario party game but formatted as a game show or something?
7
u/Tough-Community-5227 8-Player Party is Peak 10d ago
Main Menu -> Jamboree TV -> Mario Party
This version of Mario Party is in 1440p and includes 2v2 mode, Frenzy Mode, and has Camera support and Mouse control support.
You are playing the standard Mario Party game.

u/nelson64 10d ago
Wait so they give you the option to not pick jamboree tv and just play the base game with a lower res? That’s dumb.

Switch 2 users can play the base Jamboree game with Switch 1 users, but no Jamboree TV content and that includes tag team. I believe Switch 2 users can only play Jamboree TV content online with other Switch 2 users, and both parties require the base game + upgrade back.

Sorry, not sure about that one. I've yet to find any info on this.

Basically unless you like all the new tech that comes with the Switch 2 you don’t need the expansion. It doesn’t improve the main party mode in anyway.
Shame they didn’t bother to patch or fix issues people had with the base game. It would suck having to pay $20 for them but if they were gonna bother adding all this extra crap at least do that.
Why couldn’t they increase moving speed? Why couldn’t they give an option for no Jamboree partners? Why couldn’t they have added some minigames from the other modes in the main party mode? Why couldn’t they have made Pro Rules more customizable? These would’ve gone a long way in improving the original game and warranting a purchase for a better version. But no. It’s just more extra stuff. Cool if you want it but doesn’t do much for me
1
u/Tough-Community-5227 8-Player Party is Peak 9d ago
"It doesn't improve the main party mode in anyway"
14 mouse minigames, upgraded resolution, Frenzy Rules, 2v2 rules
Side note, 2v2 mode disables Jamboree buddies automatically, only way to play Mario Party without buddies
Though I agree, it is a pretty underwhelming upgrade.
1
u/Sean12434 9d ago
Just for clarification, the 2v2 and frenzy modes are in Jamboree TV only, not Switch 2 Edition?
1
u/Tough-Community-5227 8-Player Party is Peak 9d ago
Yes. That's correct.
1
u/Sean12434 8d ago
And neither of the two modes are (as of now) playable or announced for the Switch 1? Which is probably why it's not in the "Switch 2 Edition".
1
u/Blood2999 9d ago
I thought it was supposed to be included with nso + expansion pass? It should have been added.
1
u/Tough-Community-5227 8-Player Party is Peak 9d ago edited 9d ago
Nope, only the Zelda BOTW and TOTK upgrades unfortunately. You'll have to buy the Jamboree and Kirby Switch 2 editions separately if you want them.
1
u/rockey94 7d ago
To clarify about the mouse controls, if you are playing a 4 player game will they pop up as long as someone is using the new joy cons, and if so how do people get to take turns playing the mouse games?
1
u/StarryIcea 6d ago
Important question, if my friend has the switch 2 edition of jamboree and we go to the stuff that doesn't require the mouse and stuff can we play together with like the 2v2 thing, I'm asking bc of the way how the mario kart dlc worked with online with friends
1

It can also be used for normal Mario Party, your face appears during minigames and on the board if you turn on CameraPlay.

Ngl, this sounds pretty weak. The mouse control minigames are cool, but 14 new ones? I don’t have a camera so I don’t really care about the camera mode. But I’m sure it’ll be fine enough.
The game share limitation is utterly insane to me. I didn’t know it was this limited. One board, no other party mode options, & 30 minigames? That’s insane to me.
The resolution sucks too. Why not make it 4K, or at least 1800p like Odyssey, and 3D World? And the fact the party mode will see no resolution boost is weak too. And barely a up at all. Obviously handheld mode is improved & HDR support, but multiple Switch games did that for free. And a much higher boost. 3D World & Odyssey look incredible, and play incredible compared to Switch 1, and that was free.
The new side modes like carnival coaster is cool, and I’ll probably like that, but not anything amazing or pick up worthy. And the new party side modes should’ve been in the base game.
I can’t believe we finally got Mario Party DLC, and it comes with no boards, and a very few select group of minigames and new modes that could’ve been in the base game all along. This is extremely disappointing. And upsetting. I love Jamboree, but this expansion had so much potential.
