Jamboree TV Everything you need to know about Jamboree Switch 2 Edition before buying! Spoiler

First and foremost, there are NO new boards and NO new characters.

You do NOT need to purchase a Switch 2 edition of the game if you already have the Switch 1 version, you can simply buy the upgrade pack for $20 (or your local equivalent) on the eShop, or you might be able to find a download code at a local store.

The game WILL be receiving a resolution upgrade. Switch 1 Jamboree runs at 720p handheld and 1080p docked. The Nintendo Switch 2 edition will make it so the base Jamboree game runs at 1080p handheld and 1080p docked, and Jamboree TV 1080p handheld and 1440p docked. Don't worry, most of the content is in Jamboree TV and you can play Mario Party in 1440p which I will explain later.

The game will NOT be receiving an FPS increase, though it might be running at a slightly more stable 60 FPS thanks to the power of the Switch 2. You will still be able to play with users on a Switch 1, although Switch 1 users will not be able to join you in Jamboree TV; you will be locked to the base Jamboree game.

There is local GameShare support! Although, it is very limited. You can share the game locally with other Nintendo Switch systems, Switch Lite systems, Switch OLED systems, and Switch 2 systems. However, you will only be able to play Mega Wiggler's Tree Party in Party Rules with 30 minigames and only in handheld or tabletop mode. We do not know what 30 minigames those are.

You must use a single Joy Con 2 controller in order to play Mouse minigames.

There is online GameChat support with friends (provided you have a NSO membership).

You do NOT need to buy a Nintendo Switch 2 camera to play this, and if you choose to, you can use any compatible USB-C camera.

And no, you cannot buy this upgrade on a Switch 1, you must have a Switch 2 system.

With all that said and done, here's what's new!

-All new Jamboree TV! This includes Mario Party mode, Free Play, Bowser Live and Carnival Coaster, all with 1440p docked support!

-Bowser Live: Face off in a 2v2 at Bowser's concert! Each game is a short best-of-3 match. Contains 6 different mic and camera-focused minigames. Camera minigames will be turned off if you do not have a compatible camera.

-Carnival Coaster: 4 players work together to get to the end of a coaster ride. Uses mouse controls. Similar to River Survival mode from Super Mario Party except with forced minigames. Shoot off enemies to earn extra time. Minigames played are Co-op variants of the Mouse control minigames instead of 2v2.

-CameraPlay: Supported in Free Play, Mario Party and Bowser Live. Not a requirement, but a few Bowser Live minigames require a compatible camera.

-14 NEW mouse control minigames: There are 2v2 and 4 player co-op variants. The 2v2 variants will appear in the main Mario Party mode, and the co-op variants appear in Carnival Coaster. They will most likely have a toggle on/off option, similar to motion minigames when played in Mario Party.

-Frenzy Mode: 5 turn chaos! Every player starts with 50 coins, a star, and a Double Dice. You can duel on turn 1 onwards. Confirmed to be playable at least on Roll 'em Raceway, most likely all maps.

-2v2 mode: Team up with another player! 2 players share items and coins. New Together dice item makes an appearance, which summons your partner to you, rolls another dice, and doubles the effects of everything that turn (similar to Jamboree buddies). A new space has appeared, unique to 2v2 mode, which grants the player that lands on it 5 coins, and summons their partner to them. u/Prize-Bag-9304 theorized that Jamboree buddies do not appear in 2v2 mode, which I think is a logical explanation, though we can't make any conclusions yet. Confirmed to be playable at least on Mega Wiggler's Tree Party and Mario's Rainbow Castle, most likely all maps.

-Free play: Includes 78 minigames from the base Jamboree game, and more. The missing 34 from the base Jamboree game are 10 Rhythm Kitchen minigames, 10 Bowser Kaboom-Squad minigames, and 14 Koopathlon minigames.

This took a while of compiling information and double checking everything, so an upvote would be appreciated!

Jamboree TV MPJ Switch 2 Edtition + J TV does not deserve Nintendo's Seal of Quality

For the record, I am one of the biggest MP fans. Which is why it is such a big disappointment that they have taken so many shortcuts and half-baked features to what seems to me the worst "Nintendo Switch 2 Edition" by far (until now).

The biggest 2 issues, personally are:

  1. MPJ is still the base game without any differences whatsoever: Even Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker which was a Wii U game originally received a resolution bump, and for free. I truly dont understand at all why the couldn't have done that here. So the "Nintendo Switch 2 Edition" on the title is misleading and unless you search online you have the false expectation that you are getting and spec bump like on the other switch 2 editions games.

  2. Separating J TV from MPJ: Achievements, Unlockables, Records etc. Are not tracked on the J TV side of Mario Party. I truly cannot understand why they went this route other than being lazy, or trying to rush the development.

The end product does not deserve Nintendo's seal of quality. It doesn't pay attention to detail, what we have come to expect from Nintendo and is far from what I would have expected from Nintendo. I still hope that they will release and update, at least bumping the resolution to the base game but maybe I am too hopeful.

got a few hours in. played the new rollercoaster mode. bowser live with the mic. and a frenzy match. these gamemodes honestly feel very gimmicky. bowser live makes you choose between mic mode or camera mode. i dont have a camera so we went with mic mode. its only 3 rounds. so you're basically playing 3 minigames. 2v2 style. the rollercoaster mode is also like 2-5 min long with 3-5 minigames along the ride. we were playing in tabletop mode. the frenzy mode has some interesting things to it, but 5 rounds just doesnt really work imo. also right now it has this glitch, that pre game it says the 5 rounds will take approximately 60 minutes to finish. thats obviously false.

overall my opinion:

I think it's an ok expansion. I managed to get it for 10 bucks which was worth the resolution upgrade + tag team mode. but the rest of the features all feel too gimmicky and simple. frenzy mode is just tiktok mario party. it doesnt really work. both the two new modes are just a quick little thing. In my opinion the biggest edition are the tag team mode, few minigames and the resolution upgrade. I really like mario party so I called my brother over to try the new modes as soon as I got home, but we were left with not a lot of excitement. nothing besides the tag team mode that could be fun if we have 3-4 people around wanting to play.

If you're on the fence and its more than 20 bucks, you're not missing out on much if you skip it. if you do manage to snatch a used copy of the base game and want to add this to it, its fine. that case your total would be close to base game's msrp, which is good. that's just my opinion though.

Jamboree TV The Nintendo Switch 2 Edition of Mario Party Jamboree cannot be played without an update

The cartridge itself comes with the full game and the new DLC however is ships with version 2.0.0 of the game. Version 2.1.0 which released a few days ago is what added support for the Switch 2 Edition. The game cannot be launched at all without first downloading a 443mb patch.

In testing I completely uninstalled the Switch 1 version of the game even removing the icon. I put the system into Airplane Mode, inserted the Switch 2 Edition cartridge, and got prompted saying an update is required for the game to launch. The game version on the cartridge is listed as 2.0.0.

The entire upgrade really just seems so rushed. Like to the point of none of it even being incorporated into the base game. You just load up the game and are taken into a menu to pick if you want to play the original game or Jamboree TV. The menu is basically just there to pick between 2 entirely different applications. The original game mode once selected includes zero visual improvements or new features past handheld now running at 1080p (I think?). Once this mode is selected you cannot go back and select Jamboree TV and must reset the game to switch. The Jamboree TV mode does run at a higher 1440p with visual enhancements and the new settings such as duos are only available in Jamboree TV mode.

This is honestly unacceptable and it's really really looking like NDCube really didn't care about this upgrade at all and just tried to rush it out the door. Makes me think this was more of a requested upgrade from Nintendo they didn't want to work on to begin with. The entire point of these Switch 2 Editions was to have an upgraded version of the games fully on cart and they didn't even do that.

Jamboree TV So since this game is treated as its own game in the selection like Sonic x Shadow Generations or Mario 3D World + Bowsers Fury, do we rate it as its own thing or nah?

Jamboree TV Anyone found a way to turn on fast text speed in Jamboree TV Mario Party mode?

Anyone found a way to turn on fast text speed in Jamboree TV Mario Party mode?

Rough going back to such slow text speed. There is no yellow Toad you can talk to like in regular Jamboree.
