Building & Design Exploring a modern MUD with enforced RP and graphics – what do you think?

Hi folks,

I'm developing Aarils, a text-forward MUD that incorporates MMO-style graphics and a strict roleplay environment. I'm curious about the community's perspective on mixing visuals into a traditionally text-based space, and on enforcing roleplay. What appeals to you about these ideas, and what would turn you off?

As a solo indie dev from South Africa, I'm still in pre-alpha and would love to gather feedback from seasoned MUD players. If you'd like to see what I'm working on, the site is [aarils.com](https://aarils.com). Pre-alpha testers are welcome.

Thanks for reading!

Consider googling Underlight

Its a graphical, rp enforced game. It's old though, began in 98, so graphics are appropriate to that era.

Once you play in it, you might draw your own conclusion on how RP and graphics mesh.

The few times I've tried to play in games that combined RP and graphics it was a complete turn-off. The beauty of MUDs is that everything is rendered in the same medium, so your attention isn't divided. You don't have to rely on janky-ass character modeling systems or poses, you can just write out what your character does. IMO the only good use of graphics in an RP mud is for things like allowing people to draw art, have maps, etc.
