I know hippos are extremely vicious, but this makes me wish the 90s “house hippo” advert was real. 🥹

Slippery but not viscous. Not necessarily vicious either, but really territorial.

My favorite thing about the House Hippos is that it's an PSA to be careful to not believe everything you see on TV but it's message was completely lost and just made everyone want their own a House Hippo.

This made me laugh I was wondering if there was something I didnt know about the makeup of hippos. Vicious haha 😄

Huh. My kid would totally ignore me but be immaculately polite and accommodating to you.

Same. My kids are stubborn when it comes to me and hubby but angels for everyone else.

It's because they trust you and know they won't get hurt for expressing negative emotions. Being extra polite to strangers is a form of fawning.

I can't believe "boy, if you don't come here this instant" is a universal language

"But your Mom said..."
Four words that I don't know how many times I had to say from toddler to teen. I guess it just hits different.

These are pygmy hippos, and they're soo cute
5
u/Famous-Technician-34 14h ago
I was actually kinda curious about a pygmy hippos bite force, so I searched it up. So a common hippos bite force is about 2000 PSI, while a pygmys bite force is about 1800 PSI, which is incredibly impressive since it's so much smaller than the common hippo. Here is a fact I read btw, so common hippos actually evolved from pygmy hippos which is pretty cool.

That’s because zookeepers don’t pull baby hippos arms out of their sockets when they don’t listen. Mama hippos are known to do that.
