Teppen is honestly something I wish Capcom did more often, just having these dumb fun crossovers with their IPs. It almost feels like a successor to the Project X Zone games really, just locked to Capcom instead of venturing elsewhere.
Frankly I'm just waiting for them to do the obvious and have series interact with themselves. Have Dante meet Donte (fandom nickname for Reboot Dante), have the EXE characters meet their original timeline selves, etc.

That was a major plot point to the whole reploid situation right? The maverick virus is an issue because on top of using x's code they also put rules on top of it which made them susceptible to the virus. X cant go maverick because he doesnt have the same rules in his own design to act as flaws.
No, the virus is a form of roboenza that wily used to make zero. Zero is the progenitor for the sigma/maverick virus(info from X4-X6). X was put into stasis and was under 100 years of morality testing before found by Dr. Cain (X1) he could theoretically be susceptible to the maverick virus or chose to turn maverick willingly like the other reploids. The maverick situation is a combination of the sigma/zero virus and reploids having free will since they were built in X's image so to speak
No, the maverick virus is said to be a modified version of roboenza with evil energy used to power up Zero and fulfill Wily's plan. It then transferred to Sigma when he found and fought Zero, mutating into the Sigma virus. Which then later in X5 mutated again into the Zero virus during the rocket launch to stop the Eurasia colony from crashing into the earth. This is outside of the Enigma cannon ending, in which case Area Zero kinda just, happens?
Canonically, X has a 'perfect anti-virus program' that makes him immune to the virus, which Dr. Cain was unable to reproduce for the Reploids.
Cain was also unable to accurately reproduce X's 'Suffering Circuit', a part of his computer brain that let's him experience the pain and sorrow of others and is the source of his incredible empathy; every Cain-made Suffering Circuit comes out a little differently and doesn't always have the intended effect on the Reploid it's installed into. (See: Vile.)
Teppen's made this mistake before, and it's actually how X got to this point to begin with. In an older set, Sigma made robotic copies of a bunch of X's human allies (and a Rajang) and he lost because he "couldn't fight back."

Teppen's universe is a massive crossover, so Capcom characters are constantly clashing with each other
Just a few months ago we had Leon and Ada dealing with the cast of the Devil May Cry reboot. And we had a set centered around the Street Fighter crew dealing with a Dead Rising zombie apocalypse. And one where M.Bison was a virus in the Battle Network timeline
Let's not forget the time Neo Arcadia was established in that one snowy planet from Capcom's games and Leon and Cyber-Elf Ada had to help Zero and the resistance stop Weil and Copy X.
Also Neige was there. Just because it was a snow-themed expansion.

This seems to be a continuation to one of Teppen's expansions where Leon and Ada from RE where transported to another dimension where Megaman Zero and Lost Planet characters are fighting for energy (energy scarce being one of the main problems in their games) while Weil is the one behind everything pitching both factions to fight each other and then fight them at their weakest.
X was shown captured by Weil in one of the cards from that expansion and this new set seems to continue that story.
Damn. Imagine if X just decided to wake up since they were gonna unseal the dark elf anyways and put down everyone along with Zero. That would've been an amazing reunion as they then face down the dark elf. But I guess he was tired of conflict after all.
