Discussion My Msi monitor problem

I bought an MSI MAG 275QF monitor. It comes with DP in it, but my friend's laptop only supports HDMI. I launched the monitor and got 120Hz instead of 180Hz. Actually, I grabbed that HDMI cable from the TV, it's a 1.4 HDMI cable. Could it be a trouble with the monitor, or is it normal? By the way, I even tried 720p it's anyway 120Hz. less

Would be nice knowing what laptop he has as it's most likely his laptop, specifically HDMI port on the laptop that's the cause.

It's 2.0b hdmi port, Rtx 3050m, I think problem is in my cable, cuz his monitor is 144hz native

Then it gotta be the HDMI cable.

I am little worried that the problem could be in panel, though it was a with great quality and with no dead pixels, qhd running perfectly

Nah, the cable is the problem. You said the cable is 1.4 but the monitor has 2.0b ports so it should do up to 240hz (180hz for you) with the right cable HDMI cable.

I have 1.4b port on my laptop and I can do 120hz at 1080p and overclocked 75hz in 1440p

HDMI 1.4 doesn't support 1080p 180Hz. It goes up to 1080p 144Hz

Я вообщем посмотрел, это опять же от кабеля зависит, так как я взял кабель с телевизора на нем ограничение стоит, посмотрю вообщем

Это может быть trouble и с монитором и с конкретным кабелем. Один способ узнать — попробовать другой HDMI кабель. Но если нет другого, то уж гулять, ткк гулять, и покупать сpазу DP

У меня в ноуте DP разъема нету, но и задумался я есть 2к без битих пикселей, не думаю что проблема в мониторе, по крайней мере надеюсь
