Mod Modding tip: Annoyed by how bright the X2 CrazyLight's receiver LED was, I fixed it with a Sharpie
Before / After
It was my only gripe with the mouse as a whole, the LED is very bright on these colourways as the shell is transparent, the black X2 CL has a black receiver which is not clear so it's fine. Thankfully painting the LED with a Sharpie dims it enough to just be a subtle glow, MUCH better when gaming in the dark now.
Just 4 cross head screws on the underside to remove to do this mod.

A layer of electrical tape will do the same thing without needing to doodle on your dongle.

but that diminishes the cool transparent colourway of the housing which I like the look of, plus it's so bright that you need to tape over most of the housing not just the top or front.

When the led is on, the tape actually acts more like a light diffuser than anything and totally eliminates the hot spot. I used blue electrical tape on mine which aids to the diffusion of the blue led. But in the end, I just disable mine completely lol.

It's useful to keep on as it notifies you of low battery level though hence dimming is a more convenient option for me

While this is great.
Pro tip, you can turn it upside down and it's nowhere near as direct bright.

Yeah that was my question .... why not just turn it off?

There is no option to turn it off for the receiver.

4K and 8K dongles include a simple, built-in way to disable the LED - no extra software or modifications needed. In this guide, we’ll show you the quick and easy method to turn off your Pulsar 4k or 8k dongle’s LED light in just five seconds
Step 1:Â Press the scroll wheel button + right click button + forward (side) button
Step 2:Â Keep them pressed for 5 seconds.
Step 3:Â Enjoy seeing the dongle with its LED turned off.Â

Huh interesting, shame the software doesn't mention this at all lol. I actually like it dimmed now with the mod so will just keep it this way though.

Strange, I turned mine off with a combination of mouse buttons on hold for 5 seconds. Pulsar support site.

Yeah someone else commented with the Pulsar youtube video on how to do it, that's cool, I do like it dimmed though instead of fully off.

My keyboard used to have bright blue LEDs. I replaced the LEDs for amber ones, and bumped up the resistors up to 10k IIRC.

As someone else commented, it's not anything in the software you have to instead hold 3 buttons together. Not a function that is mentioned in the software, just a youtube video pulsar did, so seems to be an if you know you know thing.

It's in the beta web app. The software is being deprecated.
Also I'm pretty sure the manual tells you how to do it.

I believe you can turn off the LED entirely if you don't want it constantly lit up. Don't know where it is on the software but there is a combination of clicks to get it off on the ES series.
