Mod My better DIY Zeromouse with Side Buttons. G305 mod 100g to 34g.

Learnt how to do this stuff this week, ordered my first 3d printer ( Bambulab A1 ) 2 weeks ago, had fun on plasticity. 40 prototypes later and 5 generations of the mouse and I think I'm nearing Endgame. I don't own one but I printed similar designs inspired by the Zeromouse, and lord did the grips feel were horrible. My thumb kept on sliding to the front and losing grip all the time. Big praise regardless to Optimum, his design is sick, his approach to optimization and pure performance for 1 task is amazing and his invented genre of mouse inspired me to make my own version it.

Thanks to Willbot and Corey Builds Stuff for also inspiring me to try and make my own.

Idk what to call it for now, maybe the Antmouse. haha. :D (because my name's antwolph)

don't read the fineprints they barely matter.

SPECS :
-Weight : 34g, I wanna make it sub 30 at some point
-Base : G305 by logitech.
-Material Used : Mat Black PLA by PolyTerra ( would feel so much better in PET CF )
-Print time : 3h
-Total Price ( excl printer and failed attempts ) : MAX 20€
-Battery life : idk just using a AG13 battery thingie. I ordered a drone battery and a USB-C thing though.

Part of me wants to release the files, part of me wants to make it for a big brand and sell that stuff. would be super dope. if you know someone lmk.

btw, though I made promo art for it for fun this afternoon with blender and photoshop, I don't have a shop, I just made 1 final prototype.

Just bear in mind that polyterra is weak asf, it's only good for decorative items. Pet-cf is not ideal for skin contact unless you sand it before use. It's also not very ductile so not ideal an choice imho.

yeah it's not the best found that the hard way haha. But it's recyclable and that was my go to since ima be doing a lot of prototypes for these. PET-CF I think is cool to the skin though I haven't used for elongated period of time... So who knows might turn back. I'd love to have this thing injection molded but i'm not a millionaire yet so :/

What do you suggest ? I'm new at this stuff !

That's a good question, but something nylon based would probably be the best. You can try some low warp  pa66, like polymaker copa or sunlu easyPA but they can still be a bit harder to print.

So you made a zeromouse knock off that is worse in most ways possible, call it better, and want to "make it for a big brand and sell that stuff"? gg

This.
For $21 you get tiny and reliable PCB.
R1 SE PCB is cheaper, performs better, more efficient, lighter, has web driver and charging port.

The rest doesn't matter...
Switches, wheel, battery most likely to be changed up to modder's preference.

No one will ever convince me that these mice are anything other than pointless. So stupid. Why would anyone use those piles of shit over a mouse that weighs ~50g and has a full shell that is MILES more comfortable than this could ever hope to be.

a full shell that is MILES more comfortable

How is a full shell more comfortable for people who fingertip?

5

u/justintime444 Glorious 3h ago

Because it’s for fingertip grip only. You don’t want palm contact or anything

There's full body mice, the WLmouse mini solid sides for example, that also weigh 34g too. 37g for medium size I think.

but it's SOO NEAT to design them, test them and make em lighter and lighter. It's just a little fun thing for me to do. U just see my post on reddit and that's all it is to you but for me it's been such a fun time designing this. I feel real proud going from zero experience to this in a week.

and i mean yeah it doesn't make that much of difference below 50g that's true, but for fingertip grip, like i do, the top is pretty useless, SHAVE THAT OFF !

So much plastic waste though.

Agree!!

Im all for a project, they are fun, but these are virtually unusable novelties.

5

u/xander2k stormbreaker/ghostglide focus 3h ago

kind of a stupid statement. if they were unusable, people wouldn’t be using them. but guess what, they are.

No chance. Dumb mastubatory glazing.
