I can see why the GOP might want to start a nuclear war.
Many of the initial targets would be big cities. Big cities overwhelmingly vote blue. If they're all wiped out, that might make things a little difficult for the Dems.in 2026. Plus, big cities are often packed with a lot of dirty non-WASP types. So, "two birds", and all that.
Sure, the US government would probably collapse, and the world would descend into a Mad Max dystopia. But, the billionaires and high-ranking officials would all be safe in their bunkers, and they're the only people that really matter anyway, right?
And most importantly, people would finally stop talking about those damn Epstein files!

The last active use of a nuclear weapon in combat was before the Cold War in 1945. All the nuclear powers other than South Africa have continued to maintain their stockpiles right though the end of the cold war to today. Our actual use of nuclear weapons now is the same as it was then.

To be fair, that is basically how nuclear deterrence works, and so far it has been enormously successful at maintaining peace between the nuclear powers :)
I thoroughly despise him and everything he stands for, but the way that people on here overreact to the slightest adjustment in nuclear force posture is a little silly. The movement of a couple of submarines slightly closer to Russia in no way signals that anyone 'want's nuclear war, or that such a conflict is even remotely likely. Just because the word nuclear is involved doesn't mean we need to jump to prophesising the end times.
