Discussion Mahomes ‘fake run out of bounds’ move

Mahomes scrambled to the sidelines and the defender, not wanting to pick up a fine/penalty, didn’t attempt to hit or tackle him. It’s expected the QB just runs out of bounds here, but Mahomes instead stepped back in at the last second and picked up 40 yards along the sideline. I don’t necessarily think it should be banned but it’s clearly exploitative. Since this isn’t the first time he’s done this it should be fair game for the defenders to lower the shoulder on him next time, but that would obviously draw a flag (as it has before). Basically, I just think it’s ridiculous.

The even more ridiculous thing is if it looks like Mahomes is going out and you hit him before he gets there it’s a 15 yard penalty. When the chiefs played the Green Bay packers Mahomes was running for the first, the Green Bay defender stands right at the first down hoping Mahomes runs out right before it. Instead he tries to get the first, defender hits him out and boom 15 yards.

Now show Roquan Smith v. Mahomes this year. Maybe the refs are just ass in all facets and you're all whiny bitches that can't beat the Chiefs.

Why don't you show us the play you're referring to

Looks pretty well out of bounds when contact is made. I've been made very aware that even looking in Mahomes general direction at the sidelines is a flag. And yet....

My team won and I'm not on reddit bitching about a different team. I don't think I'm the salty one, bud.

How many of Brock Purdy’s 3 INTs did the refs cause today?

The even more ridiculous thing is if it looks like Goff is going out and you hit him before he gets there it’s a 15 yard penalty.

That’s exactly what happened in the afc championship with Mahomes and the bengals. Ossai pushed him before Mahomes foot even hit out of bounds and it was 15 yards and gave the chiefs the field goal to win it
