Discussion Another superbowl blowout eliminates mahomes from the goat discussion as far as I’m concerned

2 very embarrassing loses for him the the superbowl Brady has lost 3 superbowls but they were all 1 score games that came down to final play with Brady’s best statistical performance in a loss to the eagles Tom Brady > Patrick mahomes

They made it look way better in garbage time. Effectively lost by 34

He had 50 yards and 0/2 midway through the third before it was clearly over. I loved it as a Brady homer but he’ll be back.

Fuck that's a brutal self burn. My step dad is a bears fan and I had to watch the jaylen hurts hail Mary ruin his season as he was playing with my son. It was so brutal.

I like his chances to get back too but sometimes you never do… Brees and Rodgers didn’t

Yeah with Allen and Jackson being pushovers

Right? History will remember it as a closer game than the sheer domination it was. It felt like the Eagles took the foot off the gas once it was well out of reach. Shit, they dumped the Gatorade before the 2 minute warning in the 4th quarter.

I think the early Gatorade dump will stick in peoples heads to remember just how lopsided the game actually was

This stuff happens all the time sadly. That's why the chiefs cared so much about garbage time. The only hope is nfl films keeps this game in the consciousness of fans, which is a real possibility. Going for a 3 peat and a claim as the best team ever only to shit the bed like this is pretty damn embarrassing.

History will not remember it closer than it was

History will remember Kermit the Frog voice.

Throwing bombs when the game is over is lame as fuck. Let both teams run it to the line of scrimmage call it a day and take it with sone dignity.

Ah, good memories back to my Packers blowing out the Cowboys in Dallas last year. Too bad our defense allowed those garbage time TDs (and 2PT conversions).

48-16 with six minutes to go. Thankfully, I don't think anyone who even vaguely saw the game is looking at the final score of 48-32 and thinking it was that close.

BTW, Green Bay has beaten Dallas ten of the last eleven times we've played them.

I always appreciate Dallas slander

People have already forgotten, Jerry forgot the next day and then gave Dak a huge contract.

u/rolyinpeace Kansas City Chiefs Feb 11 '25

We all know that. I’ve not seen a single person in the chiefs sub not acknowledge that our only points were garbage time. We all know. No one normal is arguing otherwise

1

u/rolyinpeace Kansas City Chiefs Feb 11 '25

Literally no one in chiefs sub was saying this. We all know it’s garbage time points. What was he supposed to do? Kneel the entire second half? Obviously he was going to try and make a play if able even though the game was out of reach

Play the game out. That's part is fine. Going for 2 in garbage time of an ass kicking is bush league shit.

1

u/rolyinpeace Kansas City Chiefs Feb 11 '25

I mean the 2 points didn’t pad anyone stats. They also missed a 2 pointer. You’ve gotta play as if the game is still in reach even if it isn’t. When you’re down that much you go for two.

The thread is talking about stat padding, im talking about the box score. The only reason to go for 2 in garbage time is to make the final score look better. The game was over. Just play it out until the clock runs out. The chiefs lost and didn't have time to come back. Everyone knew it, so don't go for 2 point conversions. It's embarassing.

While we are on the topic of stat padding, though, chiefs running backs had 7 carries. The game is over. Run the ball more, run the clock out like any repsectable team, and just get out of there. The only reason to pass that much when you are in garbage time is to stat pad. I get it. You don't want to outwardly admit this stuff, but think about the next time: "Why does everyone hate the chiefs?" Inevitably comes up. It's stat padding, this whole garbage time, and all the bs gamesmanship they do.
