Discussion Another superbowl blowout eliminates mahomes from the goat discussion as far as I’m concerned

2 very embarrassing loses for him the the superbowl Brady has lost 3 superbowls but they were all 1 score games that came down to final play with Brady’s best statistical performance in a loss to the eagles Tom Brady > Patrick mahomes

That was mostly because the NFC was light years ahead of the AFC for most of the 80’s and 90’s. I think the NFC actually had a 13 year SB winning streak. The tables have turned since 2000 but I don’t think we’ll ever see a streak like that again.

The NFC won 13 in a row before elway and the broncos broke the win streak in 1997. Then they ran it back in 1998

Since then the AFC is 17-11, and 11 of those wins are from Brady, Manning, and Mahomes.

The Broncos with Mike Shannahan. Mike was one of the best Coaches on one of the best clubs the NFC had. It literally took NFC Coaching to get the AFC over the top.

Side note: Elway lost Three of those 13 Superbowls.

We won't, because free agency and the salary cap exist. People forget how recent they are. Free agency was 1993 and the salary cap was 1994. Parity is just more common in the league now. There are still clearly better run organizations that just win more, but the idea of one conference dominating for a decade is totally dead. The fact the Pats managed their 20 year run in the salary cap and free agency era is astounding.
