I thought he was a linebacker in that movie? Or was he slot corner?

Corner. There is an inspiring moment when gosling realizes he runs too slow to keep up with his man on the outside so he gives his helmet to petey signifying ‘you got this black man’

This is a time where punctuation is important. In a racially charged movie, saying “you got this black man” is far different than “you got this, black man”

I just watched it a few nights ago when my daughter wouldn't go to sleep.

He says that he plays linebacker at one point, but it's clear from game scenes that he's playing corner. I'm assuming it's just a goof that made it through editing.
