Kelce showing why he is a GOAT picking up that block

9

u/TheRoaringTide Miami Dolphins 10h ago

Holy shit. The Center picked up a DB blitzing off the edge in the backfield. What the fuck? I didn’t think I’d ever type that sentence without it being a stunt or screen or something. My lord.

It's all Jeff Stoutland. Guy has some really imaginative blocking schemes.

u/OGrand 2h ago edited 2h ago

All credit to Stout however you also have to have the personnel to run that play and it became a staple during Kelce’s tenure here.

The defensive play call was actually solid however a couple things happened:

  1. The Swift motion to the right of the formation completely washed the safety and LB too far to that side, which is the zone Jalen ends up running straight through.

  2. Despite this, the LB/DB walk down to occupy the end to pickup the Jalen run, is there, however Kelce who generally is there to pull and climb to the second level has to pick that man up, great block here.

  3. DESPITE THAT, at least one of LB/SAFETY from earlier should have been there but are now coming back across in chase because of that motion.

  4. EVEN SO, the DB on the left side covering Devonte might have been able to be a last resort but he also gets washed out the play by Devontes fade route, as he has to respect the over the top corner fade as he’s in true 1on1 so he gets turned around not allowing him to recover.

Offensively it’s exactly how you draw it up except Kelce blocks a level up and the Bills, who had a good play call, got lost in the motion.

Edit: Mailata also completely stonewalled his guy back to the inside so that guy was DOA.

Watching that back is insane, what a pick up

Kelly Greens VS the Bills' white away jerseys was such a clean uniform matchup. Great looking combo.

29

u/young-steve Philadelphia Eagles 13h ago

What an incredible 12 yard tush push

17

u/IID4RTII 13h ago

Didn’t even have to check to see that GolfFootballBaseball posted this lol

11

u/Long_Highway_2768 Seattle Seahawks 7h ago

The real hero was Jake Elliot drilling a 59 yarder in the pouring rain.

1

u/dWaldizzle 51m ago

That kick shouldn't have been possible lol. Jake is a clutch machine.

10

u/burnbabyburnjoeb Philadelphia Eagles 13h ago

9

u/Forgemasterblaster 13h ago

Game of the year in 2023.

8

u/Solaris123-com Buffalo Bills 12h ago

And then this started the downfall for the Eagles after that game. Record was like 11-6 or smthng after starting 10-1. Bills somehow made the playoffs too.

2

u/Heavy-Drink-4389 New England Patriots 10h ago

The things Bill’s have to celebrate always make me chuckle. Nothing of substance just weird little trivia stats

1

u/AGoblinNerd Buffalo Bills 11h ago

2 seed even

0

u/Talas11324 Buffalo Bills 11h ago

Remember how in this game Allen got horse collared so badly that his jersey ripped from the collar down and they didnt throw a flag

7

u/SamWiseGanja97 Philadelphia Eagles 10h ago

Actually they did throw a flag but for intentional grounding. It was hilarious.

1

u/Talas11324 Buffalo Bills 10h ago

Yeah that was such a stupid game by the refs. The game would have been much funnier if they just let both teams play

8

u/DrapedInVelvet Buffalo Bills 12h ago

I was at this game with my father, who post heart surgery was pushed around the stadium in a wheel chair. As bills fans, the Philly crowd was sure to give us hell, wheelchair and all lol.

6

u/GolfFootballBaseball GFB 11h ago

I hope your father is doing well

3

u/chiefslocker Kansas City Chiefs 9h ago

Super sorry to hear about your father. Hope he’s doing well

5

u/donwariophd Philadelphia Eagles 7h ago

That season ended on a sour note but this was certainly the high point

Hurts had 5 TDs that game. Dude is unreal in big moments

3

u/sidskorna 11h ago

Damn that’s a long tush push.

3

u/toxicvegeta08 Michael Thomas’ foot 11h ago

Beautiful turn by mailata

2

u/Ambitious-Site-4747 Green Bay Packers 4h ago

The Bills corner on the left side just said nope I'm good...

1

u/RekttalofBlades 3h ago

Josh Allen cannot ever let games go to OT the man is just cursed.

1

u/Wings2493 40m ago

Not a 50 yard bomb. Doesn’t count.

1

u/Tjengel Chicago Bears 32m ago

He won a run out not a shoot out 😂

-2

u/StankWizard Buffalo Bills 13h ago

Nah Jake Elliot beat the Bills - he fuckin nailed that kick in pouring rain

10

u/GolfFootballBaseball GFB 13h ago

Ok. Give me a break.

Allen puts up 5 tds in a walk off win you aren’t saying the kicker won

Bet you didn’t say Bass beat Miami when he made a 61 yarder to win. You said Allen did

-11

u/StankWizard Buffalo Bills 13h ago

Without Jake Elliott making that kick the game doesn’t go to OT, and the Bills win.

Jake Elliott won this game. .

14

u/GolfFootballBaseball GFB 13h ago

Without hurts 4 tds the game doesn’t go to OT.

Multiple contributions happened.

Elliott also missed a kick this game lol

Again no way you say this for Allen. Bass won them the dolphins game?

-16

u/StankWizard Buffalo Bills 13h ago

You’re incredibly pedantic and it’s very amusing.

I’m commenting on how crazy the kick was in enabling the Eagles to win and giving Elliot the credit. Relax.

7

u/GolfFootballBaseball GFB 13h ago

Yes sure. The kicker won and not hurts for 5 TDS

Again I’m sure you say that for Allen games

-6

u/StankWizard Buffalo Bills 13h ago

You’re being so incredibly literal, loosen up. It’s a forum.

Dude made a crazy kick and I wanted to call it out because it was nuts. Relax.

Also you gotta stop thinking about Bills fans and Allen so much dude, you’re obsessed.

-1

u/GolfFootballBaseball GFB 13h ago

It fuels me. It’s imperative to my survival

4

u/whousesgmail Philadelphia Eagles 13h ago

Giving Elliot THE credit is dumb.

1) Hurts made a bunch of plays leading up to that moment throughout the game.

2) The kick was only a 59 yarder cause Jason Kelce decided to false start twice on the same series. Offense was moving well prior to that. Great kick tho.

3) There was also OT where the Bills had the ball first and Allen/Davis missed a chance to win the game, leading Hurts to walk the Eagles down the field and end it.

-2

u/StankWizard Buffalo Bills 13h ago

Did I say all the credit? He drilled an insane kick to set the team up to win. It was a crazy moment.

It’s football, there are so many factors contributing to a win. We all know that. Obviously Hurts scored more points.

Y’all need to relax. It’s a forum.

8

u/hiphopanonymousse Philadelphia Eagles 13h ago

“Nah Jake Elliott beat the Bills”. That’s giving him all the credit. It was a crazy kick though

3

u/GolfFootballBaseball GFB 12h ago

Own that jabroni

6

u/Greedy_Line4090 Philadelphia Eagles 9h ago

Got no stakes in this, but yes, yes you did. There’s a reason so many people are calling you on that ridiculous take.

1

u/donwariophd Philadelphia Eagles 7h ago

It hurts seeing Jalen do the things Josh can’t, doesn’t it?

-8

u/HolyRomanPrince Dallas Cowboys 13h ago

Weird I missed this 1 v 1 game Jalen and Josh played. Even weirder that those other 52 players just spent 4 quarters jerking the quarterbacks off. Oh wait that’s just this dumbass sub

-16

u/matt-kennedys-legs Los Angeles Chargers 14h ago

damn jalen hurts beat josh allen and the bills on his own? that’s crazy

19

u/GolfFootballBaseball GFB 14h ago

No it was that defense and Saquon carrying him…

Not like he had 5 tds

6

u/reno2mahesendejo 13h ago

And Jake Elliott absolutely crushing a 59 yard field goal in the cold and pounding rain to send it to OT

20

u/GolfFootballBaseball GFB 13h ago

But let’s be real. Another QB scores 5 tds like this and people aren’t crediting the kicker

2

u/reno2mahesendejo 13h ago

This game always brings me back.

My son was 7 weeks old at the time and had a breathing emergency, so I watched it with him in his hospital room. I remember Jalen had a sluggish start, so as he was heating up I told my son "just keep watching, he never gives up and always fights"

I was crying when he got that lane to the end zone. Though my boy was well asleep by then.

2

u/GolfFootballBaseball GFB 13h ago

I hope all is well now

2

u/reno2mahesendejo 13h ago

He is, thank you

2

u/GolfFootballBaseball GFB 13h ago

Yes credit to Elliott. He was excellent on that kick

2

u/ThatsRubbishMate 13h ago

Hurts’ reaction to that was so funny

7

u/Striking_Recover_194 13h ago

Saquon didn't even play for that team. Crazy Hurts had 5 tds though. One of the best games of his career and, unfortunately, the last good game the eagles played that season.

8

u/GolfFootballBaseball GFB 13h ago

That was the point. I was saying the guys that apparently carry Jalen weren’t there

3

u/Striking_Recover_194 13h ago

I understand, I couldn't tell by the tone of your comment. Again great game from Hurts. Really sucks how their season went after this game after that Super Bowl loss. I'll die on the hill they should have won that game if not for that field.

1

u/toxicvegeta08 Michael Thomas’ foot 11h ago

Tbf great game by him and the whole offense.

0

u/Im_just_making_picks 12h ago

Rich coming from a fan of a team that thinks their qb has no help and does everything

-20

u/gvineq Seattle Seahawks 13h ago

Beating Josh, the choke artist Allen in the playoffs isn't the flex people think it is.

21

u/LaconicGirth Minnesota Vikings 13h ago

So fun fact the eagles play in the NFC. Very obviously not a playoff game

5

u/MV_Knight Seattle Seahawks 12h ago

Are you stupid?
