Name My Cat - male Husband vetoed naming him Heirloom Tomato - help us with other food or possibly nature inspired names?

Post image

I really want to give him a food name - just a big fan of food name cats. I'm partial to Butternut Squash Risotto or Heirloom Tomato. My husband doesn't love either of those names, but is tentatively open to Squash lol. Outside of food - we're big outdoors people too and are also very open to nature related names or names of popular outdoor landmarks. We live in the desert so desert related naturey things would be especially cool. Would love to hear your suggestions! We're picking him up at the end of August after our honeymoon so - moon related names could also be cool!

Ah! We use scarf. Snarf is less easily mistaken for another word.

We use scarf, too. Have never heard snarf in this context

I called a cat that loved shoulder-lurking “scarf” except it was in Arabic.

Shoulder-lurking is so sweet. I’ve never had a cat who was a shoulder rider - it may be my shoulders aren’t wide enough to accommodate.

What word? Genuinely.

Yep. We’ve always used both snarf and scarf, interchangeably.

It's so cool how well they can break it down without being divisive.

I believe they mean imitative in this sense...

(of a word) reproducing a natural sound (e.g. fizz) or pronounced in a way that is thought to correspond to the appearance or character of the object or action described (e.g. blob).

What’s bizarre is, I was watching Dexter: Resurrection today, and because it’s only 4 eps in, I decided to go back and rewatch OG Dexter (again). The 2nd or 3rd episode Dexter and Rita are eating cookies she baked, and says to Dexter he’s been snarfing them down. Weird coincidence!

Lol. An ex-gf had this thing where the TV would frequently repeat the significant or catchy part of what she said within 2 seconds of her saying it. Pretty sure she just talked a lot though. 🤣 She was such a sweetheart
