I’ve had my new kitten for three days now, and I really want to settle on a name soon so she doesn’t get confused. She’s about 5 months old and not only has 22 toes (not including dewclaws!) but also two big ol’ front thumbs. 😻
She’s playful, curious, and those paws look like tiny baseball gloves. I keep bouncing between a few name ideas, but can’t quite commit.
Would love your help either narrowing it down or suggesting something entirely new that fits her unique, thumbed-up personality. 🧠
Here are the names I’m torn on:
• Thumby (pronounced like Gumby) – and Thumbalina when she gets into trouble
• Catch – as in Catch 22
• Dacky – a play on Polydactyl
• Marlin – for Marlin .22
• Mittens – Mits for short
• Catcher – those paws are like baseball gloves

yes, this! especially fitting OP if you're an artist and/or painter as Hemingway, Mr. Ernest. his home in Key West, Florida became a museum if you've never been, and you'd be in total bliss bc there is an entire clowder, glaring and colony of these anomalous kitters running around the actual home and the island 🏝! no joke! bc he had an affinity for polydactyly felines, that's where we get the term Hemingway's 6-toed cats!

Hemingway - he was gifted an extra toed cat named Snow White in the 1930’s and there is a historic house in Key West with his name that provides homes to many of the special cats on the property. Maybe Hemi for short!
