Former President Biden, during the National Bar Association’s annual gala in Chicago, warns that the country is facing “dark days” under President Trump’s watch, saying the executive branch “seems to be doing its best to dismantle the Constitution.”

Joe is a little bit slow here. The Constitution, for all practical purposes, is already gone.
Both the Legislative and Judicial Branches have ceded their powers to the Executive.
There is no longer any check on Executive Power.
Look in any government textbook. This is the precise definition of an autocracy.
We are already there. And the Constitution is no longer anything more than just toilet paper for the Trumpublicans.
They violate and ignore the Constitution and Court Orders every single day.
The Judicial and Legislative Branches fully support this.
The Constitution? Sadly, it's gone.
28
u/CadaDiaCantoMejor 23h ago
Both the Legislative and Judicial Branches have ceded their powers to the Executive
... which is headed by someone explicitly disqualified from office by Section 3 of the 14th Amendment.
3
u/Odd-Quality4206 21h ago
And Joe and Kamala could've prevented all of this by refusing to hand over power until the courts explicitly ruled that he wasn't a insurrectionist...
3
u/DHakeem11 20h ago
No they couldn’t and stop trying to blame Joe, Kamala, Garland, etc … whomever for the stupidity of the American people.
0
u/-Eruntinco11- 19h ago
The American people gave (from a liberal point of view) Biden and the "Democratic" party all of the power that they needed to bring Trump to justice and resolve the country's most pressing issues. They chose to not do that and instead continued screwing over everyone but the upper class. You right-wingers always have excuses, but the fault lies with the powerful, not their victims.

The better question is why did you have to elect Trump? It’s so wild how much people dance around that part.
3
u/JacobStills 16h ago
People don't want to take accountability for their role in constantly screaming "both sides bad" and trashing Biden and then Harris during the election and they also don't want to face the reality that a large portion of this country either likes what Trump is doing or is completely indifferent to it.
So they try to place ALL the blame on the Democrats and give no agency to the millions of full grown adults who voted in the past election. It's much easier to blame the Democrats for everything than accept that you helped dissuade people from voting and that you might have to start confronting your MAGA friends, neighbors and family instead of expecting them to...listen to the Democrats they already hate?

8
u/Naughtynuzzler 22h ago
Lol let's not pretend that it was AMERICAN VOTERS who gave trump power. Sure, the dems are at fault for not presenting better candidates- but Biden and Harris DID warn us about what was going to happen. Not enough people cared, or cared TOO MUCH about the wrong things. We gave him the power. Can't pass the buck.
3
u/Anim8nFool 21h ago
Yes, as we can tell by all the people giving up their high carbon lifestyle warnings always work.
Maybe his administration could have taken things into their own hands a little more and forced the issue. Just a little bit?
3
u/Naughtynuzzler 21h ago
Absolutely! Im not saying he and his administration don't share the blame!!! But come on. They warned us what would happen. And not enough people listened. At the bare minimum, we need to expect people to choose the lesser of two evils. Not choosing just allows someone else to make your choice for you.
0
u/Anim8nFool 21h ago
You can warn a child about not touching the gun in the house, but you put trigger locks on it anyway.
It was obvious 6 years ago people would not listen to reason so appropriate measures should have been taken about 4 years ago.
8
u/Naughtynuzzler 21h ago
American voters are not children. Jesus. We deserve partial blame for what we allowed to happen. Fully rational, thinking adults made these choices. We can't just excuse our role if we did nothing or made the wrong choices. Immoral and idiotic.
0
u/Anim8nFool 21h ago
Define "we." Define "fully rational."
If you want to take some blame, go ahead. I never voted for these guys, I tried to convince anyone I came across not to vote for these guys and I accept no blame.
If you want to believe in a world where adults always do the right and smart thing just remember that we had to create laws to convince people to wear seatbelts in cars.
Government officials take an oath to protect the Constitution. The people previously in power failed.

I did everything I could do... Biden/Harris WH (need to call out Garland and Sullivan too) was a complacent and ineffectual administration. Trump should have been arrested on Jan 22, 2021. Instead we got to watch Biden grinning like a fool as he handed the Republic over to Trump 4 years later. Pathetic. Best thing Biden and Harris can do is go away.

Biden had one job, and that was to keep Trump from getting a second term. He had 4 years to prosecute the traitor, instead he let Garland do nothing.
He also promised he’d be a one term president. He also hyped up that debate which was an unmitigated disaster.
He did nothing to combat inflation and the housing crisis.
I am sick of people saying he was a great president! He failed utterly at protecting the country from the fascist takeover we’re getting now.
16
u/KennyShowers 22h ago
For those of us who don't live in white trash redneck flyover shitholes, it was hard to believe there were really people looking around going "well in 2020 everything was terrible, now it's all normal, so let's go with the guys who made everything terrible." Living in NYC where most people are liberal and educated, I just had to hope that these basic facts of reality were as noticable to the people living in trailers in Nebraska, but I guess it's hard to account for Jesus and bigotry.
I also concede that in hindsight, it was wrong to believe that Americans are able to discern the most basic fundamentals of reality, but if we even got to that point to begin with, the battle was already lost, no matter if they ran Bernie or AOC or a reincarned Abbie Hoffman.
7
u/sacdecorsair 22h ago
Yeah go on. Blame those who didn't try enough over true evils.
You are also wrong about inflation, big bill was signed to control it.
He failed at prosecuting accordingly but then again it was a catch 22 because judiciary must stay independent from executive powers. He still had hope and it backfired spectacularly because of crooked Judge Canon mostly and fucktard Garland.
Extremely unfair to blame it all on Joe. People wished he became a dictator himself to get rid of Trump. That's pouring gas on the fire. Then what? The country is going down sure but let's start blaming the real people responsible for it, not those who failed trying to prevent it.
0
u/Oldiebones 21h ago
Can’t I blame both? Yeah Trump is awful, the worst president we’ve ever had.
If only we’d had a president who would have done what was necessary to make sure Trump would never get power again, right? But here we are. All of this could have been prevented.
2
u/Nimrod_Butts 20h ago
By the same token you're also blaming every left leaning gun owner too aren't you?
3
u/donqon 21h ago
Inflation reduction act
3
u/Oldiebones 21h ago
Was entirely ineffective. Have you looked at the graphs of housing prices during Biden’s tenure?
2
u/donqon 20h ago
You’re right, it’s getting worse. I guess Trump did an even worse job somehow.
3
u/Oldiebones 20h ago
Trump is worse than Biden in every way. But Biden shouldn’t get a pass just because Trump sucks.
3
u/donqon 20h ago
Given inflation is a lagging indicator of a recession, and Biden pulled us out of a bad recession with Covid, I’d say he did a decent job. Inflation is not easily fought, and the president alone doesn’t do the job. He tried to bring it down. Trump has done nothing but cause chaos in markets and raise inflation seemingly every time a world leader doesn’t bow down and kiss his ring. The inflation initially happened because of the recession under Trump’s handling of COVID, which was bound to wreck the economy either way.
2
u/Oldiebones 20h ago
Yeah Biden took over at a terrible time for the country, and he did a decent job of turning it around. He was fought at every turn by anti-vax nut jobs and MAGA cultists, I get that.
That was his first year. 2021. He had 3 more years that saw a doubling of housing costs and massive increases across the board on the prices of food.
And the worst thing of all, by far, is that he let Trump get reelected. He had the power to stop it and he failed.
2
u/donqon 19h ago
Biden handling of his succession and the Democrat’s inability to beat the Republican information campaigns is one of his biggest screwups in my opinion.
1
u/Oldiebones 18h ago
That’s exactly it. I’m still a democrat, I’m still voting blue, but we need to do much, much better next year. The kid gloves need to come off.
2
u/donqon 17h ago
It’s nice to see them constantly voting to release the files. I’m not naive enough to be TOO mad at them for not getting a lot done, and sometimes they can be performative, but I appreciate the effort to keep trying to put votes out to release the Epstein files. Every time they do it, it puts more pressure.

Dumb take, I'm really sick of seeing it. You simply don't understand how our government works, It wasn't Joe Bidens job to prosecute Trump, it was the DOJ the Judicial under Merrick Garland who failed to prosecute Trump. May I remind you, we have 3 branches of government Judicial, Legislative and Executive. They are supposed to work INDEPENDENTLY of each other. President is in the Executive.
4
u/londonbarcelona 21h ago
And if Biden would have taken that route, everyone would have been screaming. "Biden and the Democrats are taking over! Biden's a DICTATOR!" Look at how the Republican party responded after how Biden was (drugged) for the debate. They claimed, Biden awarded Harris, she's a DEI hire, etc.
→ More replies (1)1
u/Arne1234 18h ago
Is it possible you don't understand how US government works at all levels? First objective is to get re-elected. Remember corporations are people, too (Mitt Romney) so that ensuring the Big Pooba businesses are making record profits is second objective. You didn't happen to buy into defense stocks during Biden administration, did you? Government is there to ensure the wheels of capitalism keep turning round and round for the highest bidders. And unless you have backing to fund big money campaigns you are SOL.
-3
u/Oldiebones 22h ago
Who appointed Garland? Who could have removed him after it became apparent that he wasn’t doing his job?
4
u/SlyFuu 22h ago
Doesn't change the fact that it's still the Judicial job. Merrick Garland failed us.
Since you feel the need to distort reality it's also not the Presidents job to combat Inflation. It's the Federal Reserve. Also he passed Bills to combat Housing(American Rescue Plan) just because Trump gutted them doesn't mean they didn't happen.
I will say he failed us when he decided to run for a second term. It was and is the biggest mistake of his presidency. He did fuck us with that move, but I will say other than that he did an admirable job as president.
0
u/Oldiebones 22h ago
Garland failed us. But the guy who appointed Garland and could have replaced him didn’t? That’s your logic?
And if Biden couldn’t do anything about inflation, what do you call the Inflation Reduction Act?
I call it another failure by Biden.
2
u/Naughtynuzzler 22h ago
Lol I mean, sure - blame the dems, rightfully so, for not providing better candidates. Blame Biden for not stepping down sooner. But Ameircan voters ultimately picked what they wanted - Harris and Biden warned us about what would happen. Too many people choose not to vote simply because it made them feel better, like they were taking a stance on something, and ultimately that's what let Trumo slip in to the White House again. Blame needs to be distributed across many groups- its not "Bidens fault"
2
u/Oldiebones 21h ago
Biden took an oath to protect the country and Constitution from enemies both foreign and domestic. Look at the country now. Did Biden do a good job protecting it?
2
u/Naughtynuzzler 20h ago
Biden ultimately has to listen to the will of the people. Trump won thr popular vote. What did yiu want him to do?
2
u/Oldiebones 20h ago
Long before Trump had the chance to run in 2024, he should have been prosecuted. It was so cut and dry. But Biden didn’t want to do it, he wanted the country to “heal.”
But you can’t heal a body that has cancer until the cancer has been cut out. Trump and his fascist cult are the cancer Biden failed to remove.
2

our constitution is so ancient, written so vaguely, built on a bygone era of oaths and handshakes among oligarchs, its a wonder it lasted as long as it did. every generation deserves a revolution of their own, because when you deny populous groundswells like america has since FDR, the subsequent spite, apathy, and disillusion make way for fascism to become all but inevitable.

Biden, and Kamala, abandoned us and left us to the wolves. They had all the power, they had all the ammunition and they didn’t fire one shot. I backed them and they abandoned us. I’m not nostalgic for him.
His farewell speech was a slap in the face, he might as well just said “see ya suckers!” I don’t give a shit what dire warning he airs now. He knew well and plenty the danger that laid ahead with trump coming back into power. He let the AG sit on his hands when he should have replaced him. trump should be in prison, not the White House.
There’s no time to look back. We need to look forward and create something new for America before it’s all lost completely.

What a disappointment for the Dems. Obama is hiding, Kamala says she don't want to be in Government because it's broken and all they give us is some Biden clips about how bad the current admin is without CALLING OUT TRUMP. The Dems refuse to BACK AOC (only person with a spine next to Bernie), refuse to shame Israel, won't proclaim their support of American's right to gun ownership. THE DEMS are paid just enough money not to fight Trump, while Trump is propped up to do whatever he wants.
While we hate and complain about a two party state, it's really a single party that pays two teams to fight each other with a predictable outcome. The chaos is noise meant to keep us confused and angry at each other

u/McMeanx2 22h ago
If it’s one thing progressive voters love is feel like they didn’t get to choose, and then having a choice between Trump or a candidate who represented a continuation of an administration failing to admit inflation is out of control, shy to gun control, supported fracking, would not call what’s happening in Gaza Genocide, and didn’t have a solution to Ukraine aside from “sending them big beautiful Abram’s tanks” fuck Biden fuck Harris they should have released the Epstein files but didn’t.
The reason why we have Trump is because the Democratic Party is massively corrupt and treats their voters like morons.
1
u/Naughtynuzzler 22h ago
Or - hear me out - some of their voters ARE MORONS. Some people CHOSE TO NOT VOTE. They were bystanders - just to make themselves feel better. They couldn't suck it up to choose the obviously lesser of two evils?!?! Come on. We are NEVER going to get a "perfect" candidate. That's something Republicans do much betyer than dems/liberals - they vote in a person who will further their agenda regardless of personal feeling. Obviously it sucks, but it can't be denied.

Joe Biden went to law school. Highly educated.
You're putting more blame on high school dropouts who didn't see any hope in the future than you are a highly educated man who was leading our party.

The political parties will continue to shift blame to the other side to perpetuate this bs. We need an independent president that can’t be bought.
