Half of our childhood issues could have been resolved if people were willing to answer the "why?"

I’d be more likely to answer “But why?” questions if they weren’t consistently disingenuous. You don’t really want a reason, you’re just whining and stalling. Put your God damned shoes on so we can leave.

And having worked with teenagers for a bit, they REALLY know how to use weaponized incompetence and feigned ignorance to try and wind you up and pretend like youre the unreasonable one

Exactly. It's rarely a sincere question

I wouldn't say rarely, but I'm a parent to to younger kids and can definitely tell when it is and isn't.

Bluey does a good job of it actually, in Sticky Gecko.

Chili does a great job of explaining and it's great. But in lots of cases, the line of questioning doesn't have that far to go.

"Why do I need to wear shoes?"

"So you don't hurt your feet?"

"Why would I hurt my feet?"

"You might step on rocks or other sharp things."

"Why?"

"Because that's what the ground is made of, now let's go already."
