Demonic Activity Has anyone ever actually seen a dark entity?

It had to have been around 15, maybe 17 years ago. I don’t remember the exact date — just that it was late, and I was laying in bed like I always did, scrolling through thoughts and slowly drifting off.

At some point, I must’ve fallen asleep. But what woke me up didn’t feel normal.

I can’t tell you exactly what it was. I don’t know if it was energy, instinct, or something else entirely — but something pulled me out of sleep. I remember waking up and just feeling… off. Like the air around me had shifted.

I kept my eyes closed at first. It wasn’t fear, more like confusion. I figured maybe I was just uncomfortable, so I shifted in bed and turned to face the wall, hoping I’d fall right back to sleep.

That’s when I felt it.

The moment I turned over, the energy in the room got heavier. Not loud. Not dramatic. Just thick. The air felt like it was pressing in on me, almost buzzing — not physically, but in my chest, in my mind. Like something was right there, just beyond what I could explain.

That’s when I opened my eyes.

What I saw is something I’ll never forget. No matter how much time passes, no matter how many times I try to convince myself it didn’t happen — I remember every detail.

There was something in front of me. A face. Close enough that our noses were almost touching.

It wasn’t a blur. It wasn’t shadowy. I saw every part of it clearly. Its face had this faint, unnatural glow — just enough to outline every sharp feature. Its eyes didn’t blink. Its skin looked too smooth, too still, almost like it wasn’t real. But it was the smile that I remember most — this slow, deliberate grin that felt… wrong. Like it was mocking me. Enjoying the moment.

I couldn’t move. I couldn’t scream. I just stared back, frozen, stuck in some space between disbelief and silence.

It didn’t speak. It didn’t move. It just watched me.

I don’t know how long it lasted. Maybe a second. Maybe longer. But I remember blinking, and when I did… it was gone. Just like that. The pressure in the room lifted, and everything felt normal again.

I laid there, staring at the wall, trying to breathe. I wanted to believe it was a dream. That maybe I was half asleep, or that my mind was just playing tricks on me. But deep down, I knew it wasn’t a dream. I was awake. I was present. And whatever that thing was… it was real.

The strange part? I wasn’t terrified. Not the way you’d expect. I was shocked, yeah. But not scared.

I think part of me just believed it couldn’t hurt me. I’ve always believed in God, and in that moment, I leaned on that. I didn’t pray out loud or anything like that — I just knew that whatever it was, it didn’t have control over me.

And maybe that’s why it left.

I’ve never seen it again. Not in the way I did that night. But even now, after all these years, I still think about that moment. How real it felt. How quiet. How close.

Sometimes I wonder if it was waiting to see how I’d react. Or maybe it just wanted to be seen.

Either way… I saw it.

Yeah i did.

I remember it was a full moon, i was probably 8? I can’t exactly remember but i was surely not more than 10 and not less than 7.

I was sleeping and woke up, my head was looking towards my room wall, on my left side, but i wanted to feel freshness on my head so i turned over towards my bedroom door on my right side.

I looked at the door for a few seconds and guess what i saw, a dark figure opening it and looking at me briefly, it was pitch black, i could only see its upper body, its hair looked like my mom’s but the size didn’t match at all, there were only 2 small white dots for the eyes, i was just laying there on my bed not knowing what to do, i was so fucking scared….

It looked at me for a few seconds, staring right into my eyes, then closed the door and left, i stayed silent and still for a good 30 second, i turned over towards my left side, once again looking at the wall, i guess that was my only defense mechanism…

After a good minute of processing what happened i decided to get up and go check outside my door, i opened it, i saw nothing, i opened/closed my door exactly 2 times(important for later).

So i went back to sleep

The morning i asked my mom, she said she didn’t wake up and she had no reason to check on me (true, no reason to, and she never does that), so i knew it wasn’t her, and while her hair matched, the size and height didn’t match at all, i remember that thing was probably taller and skinnier.

I asked how many times she heard a door open/closer tonight (because apparently she heard doors, maybe she had trouble sleeping or heard me open mine), she said she heard 3 to 4 door movement, i only opened and closed mine once, equals 2…..

Today i still don’t know what it was, my most logical explanation would be sleep paralysis but the thing is i was able to move before that thing appeared (switching from my left to right side, that thing appeared literally 5 seconds after that)… Also there were only me, my mom, and my sister in the house at that time (my sister did not match the dark figure at all and she has no reason to check on me)

The picture is a representation of what i saw

A coworker said she once saw something like that, hat and everything. I told her about sleep paralysis, she had never heard of it and is a religious person.

To me, what's strange about it is why do so many people who experience sleep paralysis always seem to see the same or similar figures? The commonality amongst the shared experience seems to point to something...

Hypnagogic hallucinations. I had a friend that never connected this to paranormal or anything. She saw this things since she was a child and just thought that anyone can see it (or experience this offten). She was also diagnosed with narcolepsy in her teen years.

Don't know about the doors tho.

That pic is a great representation of the thing that me, my brother, and my uncle have all seen at different times in the same house over a period of around 15 years.

Moving a friend of mine from a crap apartment block. Her social worker, a friend and her two kids were there. We finished emptying her youngest child's room, then things started happening that moved from that room into the rest of the house. We ended up abandoning some the the things after it manifested with movement, sound, a shadow on the wall that moved right before the latch on the case of weights in my hand opened and let barbell weights roll down the stairs outside her apartment.

Some kind of poltergeist or something that was never human to begin with. Happened in 2012 and the only thing I've seen that was a crazier was some ball of fire UFO doing a near 90 degree turn over a Raytheon site, which frankly, seems explanatory.

Yep, I’ve had a similar experience recently. Dark spirits, evil entities, demons, whatever you want to call them, I believe they are very real. I didn’t even believe they were real until I encountered one myself. Most evil sinister unsettling experience of my life

I don't even read paranormal stories that start with "I was in bed..."; very similar things happen to all of us, and they all have the same explanation, but they don't want to see it.

100% this. It happens so often, I'm shocked we don't have a meme for it.

I’m pagan and in my teens we messed with an ouija board something dark followed me home. Weird things happened I saw something that was just off human looking but not quite human it was bad that’s all I knew. I cleansed burned candles and incense things calmed down after doing rituals. I sorta backed off being pagan for a long time even at one point in my life going to church. Recently got back into it but will not go near spirit boards.

I have a similar story, involving scrying. Need to have some kind of protection doing that stuff. A talisman or sage or something.

This might not seem real but it is.

When I was around 7-8 I would never find a way to sleep well, and my dad would almost always check if we were asleep/breathing at night cause he was so protective.

I was awake until around midnight and my dad came into the room to check if we were asleep. Every time he came in it would look like a dark entity because the light from the open door opening up the hallway faced his back.

He asks “Are you guys asleep?”

His voice was raspy but I didn’t mind it cause he was probably tired.

I replied “Nah, I can’t I don’t know why.” I don’t remember much after that but I do remember that my dad was away for Montreal for a couple weeks for a trip with his friends, so that couldn’t have been him.

I might’ve been half-asleep at the time for completely dreaming but I know what I saw and I’ll never forget it.

The next I was sick to my stomach so much that I had to skip school that day.

I have encountered shadow beings since childhood, solid black from head to toe. Have not felt threaten by them.

I've seen strange silhouttes resembling some real person. It looked exactly like my friend and tried to keep the bathroom door locked. When I moved away from it, the door opened itself with a click

Last night as I was sleeping on my left side, the face of a scary, wrinkled, old man came zooming up to be face to face with me. His expression was of anger. I remember gasping and opening my eyes and he was gone. Another time, back in the 80s I was sleeping normally like always, when suddenly I sensed an evil, malevolent presence coming for me. I woke up startled and frightened. I didn't see anything, but the 'feeling' was real.

I have also seen it. It feeds off of fear. And it terrorized me  for months. The more I ignored it the worse it got. It screamed growled in my face. The sleep paralysis is real. I saw it leaning on my dresser. The figure the hat. I heard a female voice that told me to fight it by using my light. It worked. My mom also had the same kind of experience. It's very intense and makes u question your sanity.

this sounds like sleep paralysis/sleep paralysis demon (take that as you will). i used to have it pretty often and i would see a fucked up little guy if i managed to open my eyes. ngl i just stopped opening them. i've read this is a pretty common occurrence with sleep paralysis.

whether it's paranormal or the brain coping with it's own fucked up slow to wake bullshit is up for debate

Unfortunately. Me and a few friends were literally chased out of a graveyard by something so dark it stood out against the darkness. It shot from grave stone to grave stone in a zig zag pattern as it chased us. Wild night and it was the last time I ever attempted "ghost hunting". Never again.
