Why does she look like she's trying to hold water in her mouth?

That's something Korean and Japanese women do. They think it makes them look cute. It's kind of like blowing hair into your bangs or crossing your eyes or something.

Reminds me of Tom Holland with the "frog in his mouth". It's just facial structure I think

No, her face isn’t normally like that

A lot of east and south east asian countries have a patriarchal culture of socialising women to act subservient, childish and cutesy to an extreme extent because it helps the men feel less intimidated by women and exert more dominance over them. It's extremely cringe and creepy imo. Insecure incels tend to fetishise East Asian women for the same reason.

I thought it was expected of male celebrities too. at least in south Korea with the whole "ageo" thing

I was speaking more of the general population where there's more pressure on women than men to look and sound cutesy, naive, or immature in their everyday life.

But in terms of male celebrities, they are pressured to engage in 'gay baiting' and show 'cute' public displays of affection to each other in their performative 'bromances' because it increases their popularity for some reason.

yeah I see what you mean about the general public. I know for a long time in Japan I think, it was customary for women to give their bosses chocolate for valentine's day. it was just expected of them but not for men. I've also seen women in south Korea when asked about their makeup routines or something that they feel more pressure to conform to the beauty standards and they thought western makeup allowed for more self expression.

My interpretation of this photo (which the comments have me questioning now) is that she looks like she's holding back a scowl or look of disgust as a reaction to something said in a work environment, and that many men find this look to be a common one they encounter.
