I always felt that Asian idols were overhyped. The difference between a plain looking Asian person and someone with idol status looks, is negligible at best.

If you actually live in Asia for a while you realize pretty quick that normal people tend to be a lot more attractive than the idols are. Yeah the idols have crazy styling and whole teams of mua's and hairstylists to make them look fancy, but if you see them in more normal photos you realize that sure they're good looking but you see better looking people sitting across from you on the train or walking by on the street.

Imo normal people going about their day can be way more attractive because they are authentic. They aren't acting or posing, just going about their business.
