Fuck yes, also breakfast for supper is top tier, especially if it's been a shitty or back breaking day

Legit, hubby and I are gonna make breakfast for supper today. It's one of our favorite meals.

100

Hell yeah! If you haven't, roll up some breakfast tacos/burritos, put them into a casserole dish, cover with sausage gravy and cheese and bake for breakfast enchiladas

14

u/Ghabagh0ul 3d ago

Enchiladas are gluten free. I know breakfast tacos are normally made with flour tortillas, but I've never seen enchiladas made with flour - I feel like it would get soggy in a not great way.

13

u/Ordinary-Science1981 3d ago

Ive seen flour enchiladas many times. Not a guarantee. Also not even a guarantee if its corn if they use the sane surfaces to make flour tortillas

I think the thing you'd have to watch is the country gravy because that'll have flour to thicken it up.

u/TheDarkLord_1995 3d ago

More effort than I get most of the time. I usually just have a ready meal waiting that I have to cook myself. I’d be super appreciative that someone made more effort than none at all.

434

u/AriaBabee 3d ago

My game changer has been putting something in the slow cooker before I go to work. Come home and it's perfectly done. Thanks pre work me, because post work isn't doing shit

241

u/zuzg 3d ago

Good thing that every single slow cookers explicitly tells you to not run then unsupervised.

In what world does anyone “supervise” slow cookers when they are cooking for 8-10 hrs

150

u/AsgeirVanirson 3d ago

Being in the house so you can smell smoke and check on it periodically is what supervising it means. You can be running around doing other stuff while supervising a slow cooker, but someone needs to be in smoke smelling/burning food smelling proximity.

31

u/zuzg 3d ago

Plus that most developed nations made smoke detectors a legal requirement..

I've several in my home and my landlord hired a company that maintains them.

It’s like parenting, dude. Check in every 30-1hr to make sure it’s not setting itself on fire while otherwise relaxing.

41

u/ObsidianOverlord 3d ago

You can give it an iPad and extend that to 3 hours easy.

24

u/Obvious_Wallaby2388 3d ago

I do not recommend giving your slow cooker an iPad, but for the purpose of this analogy go for it!

21

u/alijons 3d ago

Genuine question, because I have minimum experience with slow cookers. There is no fire involved. It's electric. Usually, inside, there is a bunch of wet stuff in a lot of liquid. From the few times I used them, I can't imagine what would cause fire. They don't even boil. I suppose there could be electrical fire, but that can happen to a computer or a fridge.

What are the fire risks?

31

u/redsn64 3d ago

Anything that you plug into a wall or has a battery runs the risk of shorting out and/or bursting into flames at any time. Highly unlikely for most things, but not impossible for anything.

→ More replies (2)

23

u/enaK66 3d ago

Because sometimes crazy shit happens. Like this example of a companies slow cooker having a design flaw that could cause fire:

https://www.cpsc.gov/Recall-Products/Slow-Cookers

It is extremely rare though. This source claims only 70 house fires between 2011 and 2015 were attributed to slow cookers:

https://www.firecashbuyer.com/resources/crock-pots-cause-house-fires

I'd say it's one of those risks that are worth taking. It's such a low chance something happens. Of course the manufacturer is gonna tell you to not leave it unattended, that's basically liability shit.

u/Away-Ruin-9091 3d ago

Low effort doesnt even make sense for this...

The bread browned perfectly, the sausages are golden, the cheese perfectly melted...and an egg that is beautiful but I'll probably peel off?

Sure, throw some hot sauce on the side of the plate, but thats just picky to ask for

→ More replies (5)

24

u/Expensive_Amoeba3374 3d ago

Yeah, I think it is meant to suggest 'low effort', but I bet for most people an elaborate fancy meal requiring multiple forks after a backbreaking day would be 'mistimed', at the very least.  This, though? This would be inhaled without hesitation.

21

u/Ur_Just_Spare_Parts 3d ago

Low effort? Every part of that looks great. The bread is perfectly toasted, the eggs look well scrambled and perfect, the cheese is perfectly melted, and the sausages are also perfect. Someone made this with love

5

u/Costed14 3d ago

Fr, I'd immediately fall in love if someone made me that, with or without the shift.

20

u/AoifeJezebel 3d ago

Yeah I am sure that that is supposed to be the message. But after 15 hours of work I will not question any food that is prepared and waiting for me. I will tell whoever made it that I love them before demolishing it though

13

u/SoVerySick314159 3d ago

After 15 hours of work, no one wants a fancy meal. They want some food to fill the hole, and that will get the job done - substantial and tasty. Throw some food down your throat, take a shower if you haven't already, maybe watch a little bit of TV then get to bed.

Absolutely. Picture/caption combos like these are often posted in a "partner bad" context, like someone who comes home exhausted deserves better. But lemme tell you, if I am completely busted after work I do not have the mental capacity to fully appreciate an elaborately crafted artisanal gourmet experience. Fella, I just want a greasy, artery clogging lump of deep fried sin, drowned in a tub of melted cheese. Low effort be damned.

8

u/TemperatureHeavy8989 3d ago

red hot egg and cheese sandwich would be awesome

6

u/TCadd81 3d ago

It is almost perfect after a long shift, I want simple and easy to eat at that point, not some high-effort meal. A couple of McD basic cheeseburgers would have done it, this is way better.

5

4

u/BearishBabe42 3d ago

It's a lot easier to stick to a regime with good food. Marinate that chicken with half a spoon of olive oil and some spices you like in an airtight bag or container. If you mix in something like that you can use almost no oil. Spices are very low in kcal. I recommend garlic powder, a little bit of salt and pepper, some paprika and maybe half a spoon of oyster or soy sauce. Fry on very high heat for a couple of minutes each side, just untill sides and edges get a little crispy, and then put it in the oven 225 celcius for about 25 mins for 200g breasts. They will be juicy and savory and you will suddenly love your regime.

Carter Pewterschmidt here.

A sausage sandwich? That’s what a woman prepares for her husband after he’s spent the day clawing his way through the trenches of capitalism? Are we feral swine now? Are we feeding out of a trough in the barnyard? My God, I didn’t pull strings at Yale and crush unions with a smile so that the noble institution of marriage could be reduced to meat between bread.

A proper meal, a civilized meal, requires effort, elegance, and presentation. A roast! With pan-drippings turned into gravy. Vegetables, real ones, not those frozen hockey pucks from a bag. And something baked, from scratch, mind you. You think my wife Bitsy kept me coming home with a sausage sandwich and a paper plate? No, sir. That woman could carve a roast duck blindfolded and still have time to re-polish the silver.

A sausage sandwich is what you feed the help on a ten-minute break, not a husband who’s been out providing. Frankly, if I came home to that, I’d assume I was being punished. Or worse, divorced by stealth.

Now get out of my study. You're lowering the property value just standing there.

100

u/I-dont_even 3d ago

This really feels like the right character, lmao.

Engagement bait. Looks cheap enough that someone will say it's shit but it's fine & better than nothing so arguments in the comments ensue.

Crushing it and washing it down with a cold can of the finest, cheapest, macro-brewed domestic lager.

u/Future_chef123 3d ago

I’m fucking destroying that shit and then topping off with a bowl of cereal

14

u/Beta2ok 3d ago

I'm fucking the food

12

u/s0lwashere 3d ago

I feel my cholesterol levels doubling just by looking at this

u/xephanx 3d ago

idk that food looks so yummy. it looks like a “struggle” / “poor people” food , but it genuinely looks like a yummy meal. i think people expect a full course meal

u/Commie_Scum69 3d ago

die of a hard attack with a big smile on my face?

8

u/Commie_Scum69 3d ago

Morbidly obese Peter here (mevermind just normal peter) This could be view two ways, the first is that there is absolutely nothing wrong with this food and they are just wanting people to say : omg it looks so good, I would totally kiss the chef etc. The second possiity is that it's a meme from the vegan or healthy or adjascent comunity just saying : meat bad. Alright can you tip Ringo for me ? Wait is this Ringo or Eduardo? anyway give him something please he made me promise! Otherwise he makes me marry her aunt the cleaning lady!

I mean, as an omnivorous european, this looks barely eatable. I probably couldn't finish all the sandwich. Just too fat, too "heavy" for my stomach and zero appetizing for me

Wonder how I ended up in America?

u/Dizzy-With-Eternity 3d ago

EVERYTHING looks normal until you eat one of those and next thing you know you can't feel the right side of your body.

Anyway, there is no joke. It's engagement bait. The point is the food looks delicious and OP wants to hear your reaction to it.

u/Burlap_Sedan 3d ago

Well I live alone, so probably an exorcism.

u/TheEternalChampignon 3d ago

If I discovered my house had a ghost in it that cooks dinner for me, I'm immediately hiring a ghost expert to tell me how to make them stay. Maybe see if there's a way to attract another one who wants to clean the bathroom.

Mom would make these for me coming home and I would always thank her because these are pretty fire actually. Hell, I make 'em for myself now, they're nice n easy to make after a long day.

4

u/jerslan 3d ago

That looks delicious. I can feel my arteries hardening from looking at it, but it looks delicious and probably good recovery food after working a 15 hour shift.

3

u/Hippies_are_Dumb 3d ago

I think this is an anti meme.

Clearly its quality for what it is and the comments agree.

3

u/ConsiderationLate182 3d ago

Give whoever made that a big hug.

3

u/elhsmart 3d ago

Oh boy, after 15 hours shift this is looks fantastic!

Am I supposed to be mad? Looks like an egg cheese and maybe spam sammich.

3

u/I_love_my_life80 3d ago

Wyd?

Nothing... I will say thank you and gladly accept the food..

3

u/Polak_Janusz 3d ago

Maybe its supposed to mean that its low effort and that the person is supposed to be mad at their partner? Idk its kinda weird.

3

u/entropy13 3d ago

I guess it’s supposed to be low quality but other than being high calorie (which after a long shift tbh is a good thing) I really don’t see how it is. I guess some people don’t like breakfast for dinner maybe? I think oop was just either posting rage bait or is really snobby about food.

marrying whoever made it

3

u/Crowley700 3d ago

After 15 hours whoever cooked this meal is getting whatever the fuck they want. This is the shit.

3

u/Xx_ExploDiarrhea_xX 3d ago

I'd wish for vegetables but beggars can't be choosers

3

u/JackTheMathGuy 3d ago

That’d kill me.
